CITY Beautiful is living up to its name, especially when it comes to churning beauty queens.
Make way for effervescent and chirpy Kulraj Randhawa, city lass who is all set to step towards stardom. "It was an instant decision to sign this movie," explains the debutante who is in city for the shoot of Sikander Bharti's forthcoming film Shriman Chanakya.
"I started with modelling assignments and compeering stage shows," adds this management graduate from Bangalore who eventually could not resist "so many" movie offers. "The film is neat and clean apart from a good storyline. I mean there is no so called shedding off," comes a stock reply from the newcomer. "It was also a big chance to work with brilliant actors like Amrish Puri, who plays the title role and Ashish Vidyarthi," beams the young lady.
Switching over from books to Bollywood was not easy though. "I never wanted to be in glam biz. In fact, I was very tomboyish and wanted to join the army at one time. I also got a scholarship to do journalism abroad but Bollywood calling proved stronger," explains Kulraj who underwent acting classes from Kishore Namit in Mumbai.
"I want to do performance-oriented roles yet the ones that people will accept me in. I do not even want to follow role models because there so many trendsetting personalities in the industry but they all have their share of the good and the bad points," philosophises the actor who is inspired by Madhubala.
