well mahen and alok r bestfriends. mahen is rich while alok is not. mahen brings a proposal for gauri, alok's daughter. gauri's marriage gets fixed with shashank. then enters mahen's son Shiv Kapoor, lot of misunderstandings happen between shiv and gauri, and on the day before her marriage, gauri gets arrested with manchan(shiv's bestfriend) in a hotel room, gauri thinks it was a trap by shiv as shiv tolf gauri tht he wud never let her marry shashank. due to this on the day of the weddin shashank runs way. and mahen asks shiv to marry gauri or tht he will disown shiv and ipshitha. in the end shiv agrees, but he goes to gauri and gives her car keys and ask her to escape. and she runs away and she goes to a park, and is wonderin wht to do, there she meets a man(hiten) who after listenin to her asks her to marry Shiv and advices her. Gauri goes back to the mandap and shiv gets even more angry, and walks away, but later comes back and marries her. durin the weddin shashank comes there and gauri sees him leavin a letter for her, but later when she looks for the later she cudn't find it and she thought it was just her imagination.
after marriage shiv is always rude to gauriand keeps insultin her. Now enters shiv's childhood friend ipshitha and shiv's another friend ANupam who is more like a brother and guru to shiv. Anupam is in love with Ipshitha. meanwhile a lady devika(gayathri from ksbkbt) keeps tryin to break shivgauri marriage but she is never successful. Later gauri decides to work and she gets a job in devika's ngo. after sometime she deviks goes abroad and leaves gauri in charge of everythin. meanwhile shiv finds out tht the piece of land they require is in devika's name and shiv goes to talk to her and finds out tht gauri is in charge. so he decides to take her on a honeymoon and tht time manchan wud get the land as the lease period on the land was gettin over.
shiv takes gauri to some jungle type place. but there they get kidnapped by some docoits. and they kill one man and later when they try to take shiv, gauri tries to stop them when shiv sees this she gets shcoked and but they tell shiv away and tellhim tht he will be killed the next day,later shiv comes back and shiv shows gauri a potrait of a girl who he is in love with. he tells her tht he met the girl once and he loves this potrait the most in his life and if anythin happens to him to hang his potrait in his room. later gauri convices shiv to escape from there, but they get caught again, the leader tells them tht both of them will be killed, they r given five minutes, shiv and gauri have a heart to heart talk and shiv tells her sorry for his behaviour, and he starts realizin tht how nice gauri is. when they r taken away to be killed, the hug for the first time,but at the last minute cops saves them, and major shoot out is happenin with shivgauri runnin around, and in the end gauri gets shot.
she is taken to the hospital and later to the hotel and shv takes care of her the entire night. and durin the night manchan calls up shiv to tell him tht they r gonna beak down the place, but shiv looksat gauri who is sleepin and tells him not to break down the place. next day they go back home. gauri hangs the potrait in their room, and shiv is really nice to gauri and then gauri finds out tht the place is broken down, and devika asks gauri to file a case, and gauri not realizin tht she was filin a case against shiv, signs the papers. later shiv is shocked to realize tht gauri filed a case against him.later gauri realizes tht she can't go against shiv, she goes to devika and tells her tht, and devika makes a deal with her tht, if gauri files for divorce she will take back the case against shiv and also give him the land free of cost. gauri files for a divorce, after alot of drama, doublecrossin by shiv, it is revealed tht devika is gauri's nani, and alok tells gauri tht shiv saved his marriage. shivgauri becomes friends. then shiv starts carin for gauri and gauri falls in love with shiv. shiv thinkin tht gauri still loves shashank brings him back, and tells him to tell gauri the truth behind shivgauri's marriage which was actually planned. but gauri refuse to listen to shashank, and goes to shiv and tells him tht she loves him.
then it is alot of scenes with a guilt driven shiv cryin,and shiv tries to warn gauri abt gettin hurt in the end. but gauri keeps tellin shiv tht she loves him. in the end, they show tht nikhila(shiv's mom) was behind all the plannin and she gets shashank kidnapped inroder to stop gauri from findin out the truth. on gauri;s birthday, devika lits gauri's room in fire and shiv saves gauri and ask her to leave and tells her the truth behind their marriage. shiv;s kundali has a dosh tht his first wife wud die with in the first eight months of their marriage and it was a planand all. mahen who was not aware of all this is also blamed along with shiv and nikhila.
alok breaks off all relation with mahen and shiv asks gauri to leave from there and gauri leaves. it is then revealed tht there is more to the raaz. and the second part of the raaz, is not told to gauri.
gauri starts missin shiv and shiv feels really guilty of wht he did to gauri. and the guruji(who told nikhila to get shiv and gauri married) tells her tht shivgauri haveto live together, and they have to consumate their marriage. nikhila vows to bring back gauri.
gauri realizes tht she can't live with shiv and goes back to him, shiv tries to make her go back, but in the end he takes her home. and alok breaks off all relation with gauri, gauri decides to keep karwachaut wrath for shiv, shiv starts feelin even more guilty, in the end he decides to tell gauri everythin, and records the second part of the raaz in a tape, and tells nikhila tht he is gonna tell her the truth, butat the last minute nikhila attempts to kill herself, and is saved, and makes shiv promisetht gauri wud never find out abtthe second part of the raaz, shiv decides not to tell gauri the truth.
on the karwachaut it is revealed tht shiv is in love with ipshitha his childhood friend.and he wanted to marry her, but due to his problem in the kundali, her mother doesn;t allow, and nikhila and her mother comes up with this plan, one reason shiv agreed was 'coz he never believed in kundali, but now he does.
meanwhile ipshitha;s mother suguna comes down. and nikhila and suguna r talkin and maya-mahen's sis(played by apo*na of kzk, she is a grey character and hates gauri) overhears them and starts blackmailin them.
later shivgauri goes to kolkatta for gauri's mom's barsi, and shiv gets kidnapped and after alot of drama shiv comes back(now played by yash tonk). its ipshitha's birthday, and she comes down to kolkatta, and shiv goes to see her and gauri thinkin tht shiv can;t sleep without a/c leaves his things there and asks him to stay in the hotel.this increases shiv;s guilt. meanwhile they hear some ppl fightin and goes to see, and a gril is cryin and her boyfirend is tellin her tht he wanted her money and thts y he had an affair with her and now the girl is pregnant and he starts to hit her, and shiv interferes and the reception manager comes and stops the fight, and addresses ipshitha as mrs shiv kapoor.
next day gauri goes to pick up shiv, but again misses ipshitha. later aguy is comin to see kaya,gauri's younger sister and even though first she refuses to see the guy, shiv convices her. and the guy is the same person whom shiv had a fight with. shiv asks him to go away, but the guy starts blackmailin shiv abt ippy. ;later shiv is talkin to ippy on the phone and gauri comes and tells him tht both kaya and tht guy said yes. after she leaves shiv tells ippy tht even if he has to reveal his relation with ipshitha, he wont let tht guy ruin kaya's life.
shiv goes and slaps tht guy and tells every1 abt the guy, and then the guy tells every1 abt shiv and ipshitha(he doesn't know her name, says tht he can recognize the girl if he sees her again.)alok slaps shiv, but gauri tells the guy "sari duniya galat ho sakthi hai, lekin meri shiv kabhi galat nahi ho sakthi". shiv feels even more guilty. shiv, alok, debo-gauri's brother and the guy goes to the hotel, but ipshitha bribes the manager and all to lie.
when alok gets back home gauri tells him abt how she asked her to runaway be4 marriage and how he always gave her a chance to divorce him and laso tells him tht it was her decision to go back to shiv, and she cant leave without him.shiv tells ippy tht he wants to tell gauri the truth, and ippy emotionally blackmails him by tellin him tht gauri will die if she finds out the truth.
ipshitha goes back to mumbai, and shiv is also packin to leave, when kanan(tht guy's girlfriend) comes into his room and starts tearin her clothes and screams for help, and shiv is arrested for attempted rape. this time alok also stands up for shiv,and gauri goes to meet shiv, and, when shiv sees gauri's blind trust in shiv again, tries to warn her tht he cud be wrong, but gauir brushes it off with her emotional dialogues.
gauri goes to see kanan and overhears her talkin with her boyfriend abt trappin shiv, and how she is feelin guilty, gauri gives one of her bashans and goes. meanwhile ippy reaches mumbai and anupam goes to pick her up and takes her to a beach restaurant as a birthday gift, and therehe tells her tht how the potrait in shiv's room reminds him of her and later anupam switches on the tv there and they see in the news tht shiv is arrested.
next day in the court, kanan syss tht shiv tried to rape her, but at tht time ippy and anupam comesnad ippy testifies in tht court tht she and shiv r havin an affair and tells them abt the affair and when kanan came to the room, she thought it was gauri and hid behind the curtains, and saw kanan tearin her own clothes and how she trapped shiv.hearin this gauri goes from the court.
after shiv is declared not guilty, alok goes and slaps shiv, but then anupam goes and tells them tht ippy lied. and there is nothin between shiv and ippy. later anupam realises tht gauri is not there.
meanwhile gauri is in her room and cryin and she breaks her pic with shiv. and anupam comes, and gauri tells him tht she won't blame ippy, but how cud shiv do it to me and someother dialogues. anupam tells her tht ippy lied to save shiv. and gauri feels guilty of doubtin shiv and ippy. she decides to meet ippy.
meanwhile in the haveli, ippy and shiv r talkin, and in the end shiv andippy hug, and this time gauri comes there and sees them huggin.

some points i missed r:
* mahen's brother daksh is havin an affair with his secretary, and when gauri and shiv finds out abt it, gauri tells shyla(daksh;s wife), even after shiv tells her not to do it, as he didn;t want daksh-shyla marriage to break. and he proves gauri wrong in the end, and shyla kinda become rude to gauri(shyla is a positive char, who always stood up for gauri).shiv warns daksh to break off his relation with shyla, and the next time he won;t help her.
*after shivgauri becomes friend, gauri finds out tht daksh is still continuin his affair, and she finds out tht the girl is actually cheatin daksh and she is behind him only for money, this time shiv goes and tells shyla abt this, but she doesn;t believe him, she tells him tht he loves gauri and thts y he is doin all this(this was be4 the raaz was out)
*gauri's bro and wife r money-minded ppl.
*vivan(daksh'son) is very closed to shiv(butdoesn't know abt shiv and ippy), he is very frank and is in love with kaya and but was not able to tell her abt his feelings.
* there was netesh(amit tandon) who was brought by shiv mistakin him to be gauri's old boyfriend, so he can throw her out, but in the end it turns out to be kaya's boyfriend.
*shiv sis, palak, was engaged to prasanjeeth, ipshitha's borther, but the marriage didn't take place palak didnt want to marry prasanjeeth.
*maya and her husband stays with mahen.
* after the first part of the raaz is revealed, anupam is angry with shiv.
