Continuation: Part 27:

Heading back to his room, after a lil chat with Vivan... , he is lost in thoughts , yet again, but this time , about his pending tasks at office, that were left unfinished, for he couldnt make it back in time... not that really wished, thinking of the good time he had earlier that afternoon.... smiling at the thought... he opens the door to his room... to find her fast asleep, surprisingly the bed lamp next to her glowing..bright.... the AC on .... as she snuggled up.. with the cold ...

Almost expressionless, he walks over , to her side... noiselessly switches off the lamp, and pulls the covers , as she snuggles up under the covers..and walking over to other side, increases the temp of the room.... and settles down with a magazine ...

A few minutes into flipping pages of the magazine... recklessly..... Shiv decides to get some work done.... and starts with his work on his laptop... loosing track of time.... totally immersed in his work.... only to be distracted for a moment as Gauri turns over in her sleep... to face him... as he turns to see her.... noticing a loose strand of hair on her face... making her look so vulnerable... a faint smile... on her lips.. like she was in a wonderful dream.... her face looking angelic..in. the dim light of the bed lamp...

Smiling, he quickly returns back to his work....

Another hour passes by, with Shiv totally immersed in his work , when his body giving away... he notices the clock on his bed side , showing half past one and decides to call it a night... and quickly wraps up and hits the bed.... closing his eyes , waiting for sleep to come over......

A few minutes in dark, and his tired body gives away, as he finally drifts into sleep....and asleep for a mere half hour, he jerks awake hearing a scream.....

Muttering irritably... half asleep.. he fumbles for the bed lamp in the dark and switches it on....turning around to see Gauri, looking petrified... almost in trance... sweating profusely... clinging on to the bed covers ... with a tight grip, making her knuckles go white.... breathing heavily...

Quickly .... getting to her side..... placing his hand on her shoulder.... in a low voice..."Gauri...."...noticing her cold body shivering.... a lil louder .realizing she had seen a bad dream.now..."Gauri... ".."Gauri..."..."its awwright...."... trying desperately to calm her.. as she gets more hazzled by the minute , her face contorting in pain and fear.... as she finally mumbles..."badi ma...."..."main...."... when he slowly... holding her face in hands... and turning her towards him... "Gauri... listen to me..."... "its ok...".. "kuch nahin... hoga...... bura sapna tha...."... as she breaks down.... sobbing.....mumbling.. incoherently... "shashaa.. main... andhera... "... sobbing.... "ma... badi.. ma..."... as he , apparently worried... holding her by the shoulders now... "Gauri...."... "its ok.... kuch nahin hoga... shashaank ko... wo theek hoga... Gauri.. listen to me...."... as she mumbles.... "sach tha... main .....".... glimpes of the all that happned the previous night, making her shudder.... the fire, shiv's outburst... "main marne waali hoon..." echoing in her head... now visibly shivering......as a pained shiv.... noticing her... trying in vain to calm..... when only she breaks down even more... half asleep half concious.... not really... realizing his presence... as he in a final , desperate attempt, on the spur... takes her in his arms....as she sobs into his arms... its ok..patting gently her on her head, and shoulders... as she mumbles in between ...her muffled sobs..."marna nahin chaahti......".... her painful cries tearing into his heart..... "shivvvv..."... she sobs... breaking down completely.....sobbing uncontrollably...as he managing to grab a glass of water.... holding her .... "Gauri... yeh .. please pani piyo... .. "..as she in a trance, breathing heavy ... doesnt comprehend... when he helps her , holding the glass as she drinks it , calming a little... but sobbing uncontrollably... as he holding her now... "Gauri...".. idhar dekho...".... kuch nahin.... tha.. sapna tha... "... So jao...."........and seeing she was too shaken from it all... takes her in his arms....muttering... without him realizing..."main hoon yahaan... its ok....."....as she continues to sob.... in his arms... and finally after a while ... slowly drifts into sleep and he realizing she has, as her grip on his hand eases, slowly... helps her back on to the bed... adjusting the covers.... and finally settles down ...

Staring at the ceiling in the dark, thoughts fill his mind...."itni dari hui hai... aur main kya kar rahaa hoon.... what do I do....?"... her voice echoing..."Meri khushiyon ki wajah , aap ho... koi aur nahin...", "Maine Shiv ko apni Zindagi maana hai.....isiliye inpe sabse zyaada yakeen karti hoon..."... sudden fear gripping him.... closes his eyes shut... the gripping fear, sending a buring feeling through his body....removing the covers , jumps out of the bed and walks towards the shower... and splashing cold icy water over his face... stands there, breathing heavy, not daring to look into the mirror........ his heart pounding heavy.... hoping in vain that the burning would ebb, as he continues to splash cold water his face.... his face feeling numb with the cold water..... his tears .... washed away along with the cold .. icy water... dripping over his face.....as a thought strikes him.... and calming down almost immediately... as his restlessness ebbs...... shaken but determined.... he slowly walks out... and gets back to bed.... closing his eyes.... a sudden sense of peace... and calm... settling over him... as he drifts into sleep.....
