"Sir, you have a meeting with Mr Abhimanyu Singhal " I heard Alya's voice. " Yup sure " i replied keeping down my drink as I popped in a stick of gum so as to prevent the stench of alcohol to linger of. " This way sir " I followed the lady to my hall.
Sat there a man with specs and formal clothes in deep thoughts as he ruffled through the pages in his file." Mr Abhimanyu Singhal? " I asked coming near him. " oh...oh yes sir I am " I got my response. We had a formal handshake as I sat down over the couch opposite him. " Sir I have come to you from the trust " Last Wish..." He informed. Last Wish? peculiar name.
" Sir our trust helps those people who are severly ill and on the last stage of thier life in fulfilling thier last wish..." He told adjusting his specs and rumbling off again into his files. " Sir as i said we fulfill every patients last wishes...Sir one of our patient has requested to meet you ...actually spend one whole day with you sir. I hope you will agree sir as it is that patients last wish." He said handing me some papers.
" Here is the reports sir to clarify that the patient suffers from last stage Bulimia, though there are 20% chances of recovery , but 70% chances of death therefore the patient has denied taking the risk of operation and has only 6 more months to live sir, plss sir we request, do meet her " He explained me.
He removed his specs and waited for an answer. " I am really sorry for your patient, but I cannot make it i really apologize but i am really busy " I replied. " Sir ...sir plss just once meet her sir Just once " He requested. Don't know why but I could see some hidden pain his eyes which he was trying to bury " I am really sorry but I am very busy " I replied.
" Sir the patient really desires to meet you , Even we understand that you are busy but it's the matter of life sir " He told. He readjusted his specs and got up with all his files. " Here is a photo and plane tickets sir, with a letter from the patient, You know just in case if you change your mind " He told removing a blank white envelope from this pocket and keeping it over the table.
" I better leave now sir Thank you " Telling this he went away leaving me in a miff. I picked up tthat envelope and turned it to find " To M.M " Written of it in a sprawlly handwriting. I placed it back in my bowl and went out...
2 months later...
I was reading my morning newspaper when Alya came. " Sir a parcel for you " She told placing down a small box neatly covered in brown paper with a letter attached to it , I have been eagerly waiting for it. I placed away the newspaper and plucked it out and read it.
" Cookies for you, hope you like it...
Ps - I made them for you..."
I immediately recognized the handwriting, the same sprwally letter in slant with a lime blue ink and with one more piece of a velvet red puzzle.I picked it and saw it as i fumbled around with it. I took the box and neatly opened it, careful not to tear the paper.
A strong aroma of chocolate filled the atmosphere. A small pink box with a red polka dots. I removed the ribbon and opened the box to find one more chit.
" Smile Please "
I saw the cookies and immediately had a sly grin plastered over my face. I picked one and saw it more closely. All of them had cute smiley faces made over them. I took one bite and immediately felt the cookie melt and dissolve in my mouth leaving behind its sweet and chocolatey taste which was seriously out of this world.
In few minutes I emptied the whole box. I was licking the chocolate off from my fingers when my mind again lingered in her thoughts. This was her 9th gift till now. Every new gift came...it came with a velvet puzzle piece. I picked up that piece and went towards my wardrobe. I removed a box filled with red pieces.
I sat down over my desk and started joining them together. It was a difficult task but i somehow managed to complete it. I completed it yo find a red heart but its middle piece was missing
I spent whole hour trying to find out why had she not sent the last piece. It looked incomplete without that piece. I turned the puzzle around and saw again that sprwally handwriting.
" It's looking incomplete right? well if you need that piece then you have to come and take it from me because I really want to meet you plss come on take the tickets I am tired of cooking so many delicacies for you "
I smiled as I read that. That girl's crazy. Nobody has persuaded me this much. Everyone gives up hope and goes away but she , she just won't stop at any cost. I smiled at that heart and went to the hall or I say literally ran toqards the hall.
Tumbling over the stairs, banging into the staff. When did I ever act so impulsively before? Never. But that girl...
She made me smile...
Taught me to laugh...
Made me see everything positively...
Never have I ever changed this much in my life. I reached the hall and pulled out that envelope.
" To M.M "
I literally tore open the letter.A photo fell down from it which I picked and My heart beat pounded harder...
She was a fairy...
hazel eyes...
Light skin...
Beautiful sunkissed hairs...
Highly kissable pink lips...
& Chubby cheeks...
Indirectly it was a perfect picture. Don't know but my heart was now as if starting to yearn for her. I really wanted to see her. Meet her. I never felt these weird reactions before. I have seen more beautiful women but nobody made my heart beat this fast.
But what has shocked my mind that I have only seen this girl's photo only. When I will meet her in real life I may end removing my heart out from my mouth. Wait a min...why will my heart come out of my mouth? I don't love her...or do I?
I went towards my wardrobe and started packing my bags. I need my answers now. What has happened to me? Why am I behaving like a love sick puppy? Why is she so important to me? I need my answers and only she can give them.

" Umm.m..Mrs Nandini Murthy? " I asked as I opened the ward door. But all I found was a empty hospital bed. I walked in and looked around. It was a room with all the machines beeping but not patient. " Nandini how many times do I hav- " I turned and saw Abhimanyu. " Sir? " He saw me with confusion. Suddenly his face glowed like sun.
" Sir have you come here to meet Nandini? " He asked all excited. " yes I have come to meet her " I replied with a smile. He asked me to wait and immediately rushed out. I was going through some reports of her lying when I noticed a small book hidden beneath the pillow. I removed it to find that it was a recipe book. I flipped through the pages and found that every delicacy in the book.
I smiled seeing that. She cooked for me. Donno why but the thought just made me so happy. " So at last you came to meet me Mr Manik Malhotra " I heard a soft honey glazed voice. I turned to find her. There she was standing in front of me.
She looked much beautiful in reality than pictures. " Hi " I greeted her. " Keep your greetings to yourself, I am not talking with you " She told making a cute pout. " but i came now to meet you " i said
" You know i am a really big fan of your " she told dreamily. " Yeah your hope on me clearly showed it " I replied her. " You never replied to me that how my dishes were made? " she asked excitedly. " Now what can I tell you they were really bad , I didn't like them at all " I joked around with her.
" oh I am so sorry " She told. " I will never cook again " She told. I like as if a rocket, my head shot up towards her.Her eyes were brimming with tears which were threatening to come out any moment. " Hey " I immediately told and hugged her.
She started sobbing against my chest. " Hey " I tried catching her attention. I took caught her chin and pulled her face up. " I have not come all the way from India to see you cry here " I told her stroking her hairs. " You won't believe but those delicacies were the best every I eaten. " I told her
" That really was mean you know " She told between her sobs. " Hey come on I was just kidding " I consoled her. When suddenly the door opened and in came a nurse with the tray of food. " Maam you have to have your medicines , plss can you have your food " She requested. " No i am not hungry " Nandini told.
" Nandini come on you need to have medicines " I told her trying to feed her. " That food tastes blah ! " She told sticking out her tongue at that tray of food. " Will you eat it if I feed you? " I asked her. " You will feed me? " She asked in a silent whisper. " Sure. If you will eat " I told her...
