CHAPTER 7 A
I came out of the classroom and found Naina and Cabir are still standing and chatting at the same place where they were before. I came there and stood still as I didn't knew what to even say at this point of time.
"So my princess ...where is your so called prince?", Cabir asked me while giggling.
Even before I could I answer, the person himself came there. He came and stood beside me. We both gazed each other with an unknown emotion. Our trance was broken as usual by our greatest friends, who finds everything funny in this world and really...it's really hard to stop their giggles.
"Sweety we are waiting", Naina asked me in a mellow tone.
"Huh...for what", I asked in return being perplexed.
"Aree for the enlightenment of the day...so how many slaps was there today??", Cabir answered instead of her and the stupid comment made me smile, although I wasn't willing to.
"Shut up you both...like seriously how Cabir you always manage to come up with shitty jokes like these all the time", Manik replied while making a disgusted face. Oh ayippa...Manik's face is looking more funnier than the Cabir's comment...his face forced me to let out a giggle to which Manik passed a perplexed look and I shook my head instantly.
"Manik it's not a joke yar ...I am concerned for my brother and his cheeks...leave it... you won't understand", Cabir again commented him dramatically with gestures.
Now this was enough...I just couldn't controlled myself and guffawed, which grabbed the attention of all three of them towards me.
"Enough guys yar it's too much for today", I said while smiling and giggling whole heartedly to which the duo accompanied me but Manik just passed a smiled and instantly looked away trying to hide it but I had already caught him...and this made me smile more widely. I wonder why he always wants to keep the persona of typical Mr.A2 but nevertheless I have started understanding him well.
"Guys we should leave now, already we have missed classes on the very first day of our college", I said pulling Naina towards me.
"Ok princess as you order..will meet soon", Cabir came beside me and gave a dramatic salute.
"Handle the damage control of friends as you know you both didn't get a chance to speak to Nyonika aunty", I whispered him while giving a side hug to which he blinked his eyes in assurance.
"Bye guys", Naina and I waved them and turned around to go.
"Bye and be ready with your sorry miss crazy", I heard Manik's voice as I walked ahead two steps.
The duo was clueless about the situation and looked us curiously. I nodded my head in disbelief and without turning back dragged Naina with me towards the way of our class. I can bet that his famous smirk must be back on his face..stupid moron.
I hastily took steps ahead and reached to our classroom. Thank god the next class was not started yet. We took our seats before the professor came.
On the other hand Manik and Cabir immediately went towards the canteen. As soon as they reached there, their friends were ready to pounce on them, with anger clearly visible on their face.
"Manik be ready to become their morsel", cabir whispered him while looking at the faces of their friends, which he reciprocated with a glare and went ahead.
"Manik and Cabir where the hell were you both from that time", Mukti asked them like a hungry lioness.
"Nothing was just talking to mom yar ...about the morning incidents", Manik replied her in a calm tone as he was busy thinking how to satisfy them with appropriate answers.
"So what she told..", Dhruv asked him with his all time mellow tone. "We can use the jam room ...everything is sorted na", Alya stated next.
"Nothing much...aahh", Manik tried to get some some answer but it was like his mind was betraying him badly in it. But he didn't knew that I had already anticipated the situation and was ready like always.
Thus, Cabir interrupted in between to save his friend, "Wait yar ..actually guys we didn't spoke to Nyonika aunty much...we didn't get a chance only", he said while remembering my words.
"Whatt??", Mukti shouted and Manik looked at him inquisitively.
"I mean yar she was busy in attending some important calls and we were just waiting there and then...then... ya ya we didn't wanted her to stress much now so we just talked randomly and came back", Cabir tried to pacify them by giving justifications. Listening him, a calm appeared on Manik's face and he thanked him through eyes.
"Yes guys so Let's go ...there is no point of sitting here as we cannot even practice music also...we should go somewhere and enjoy and don't worry I will try to talk to mom about it", Manik tried to cheer up them.
"Ok but what's the plan Manik for now?", Alya asked him
"Let's go have lunch and then we can go pub for sometime", Manik replied her while looking at others. Everyone nodded in assurance and moved ahead.
I and Naina were attending back to back classes. This was the third class now and on top of that its the first time that I wasn't paying any heed to the classes ...well how could I when my brain is busy in the thoughts of Mr.A2. I wonder what will he do now to win the challenge... I will have to be ready with every stupidest possibility.
I know Naina had been observing me keenly ..definitely she would have guessed by now that I was in deep thoughts and will soon start her blabbering once the class is finished.
As expected she was ready with her question as soon as the professor moved out, "tell me what's happening..what is going on in your mind my sweety", she asked with sarcasm.
There is no point of hiding anything from this type of crazy best friend, I inhaled a deep breath and narrated her about the challenge between Manik and me. After completing, I looked at her. She was calm and was as casual as if we were discussing about some random movie...this girl na.
"Don't you wanna say something", I asked her.
"Why ...what's there to say? I know you ...and well if you have forgotten then let me tell you that it's not the first time you'll be kissing him but it's just that the spectators will be increased", she replied me nonchalantly and started laughing. How could I be sane when I am surrounded by all insanes in my life..ha Ayippa?
Finally after one more hour the class was over and I just wanted to go home as soon as possible. I dropped Naina home first and went home immediately. I crashed in my bed and took a nap for about two hours.
In Evening...
On the other side, Manik and Cabir was returning back home from pub.
"So Manik do you want to throw some lights on sorry card which you were talking about in college", Cabir enquired
"Whattt...what are you talking...I am not getting anything" he replied being flabbergasted.
"As you wish but now you should know that you have someone above you that can answer me", Cabir told him calmly
"What are you saying?", Manik asked being clueless.
"I mean the princess!!! See if you'll not tell me I'll ask her and you know and I know that's she will have the answer", he replied while giggling.
"Fine !!! Shut up !!! I'll only tell", Manik answered him unwillingly and told him the details about the challenge.
One side Naina was too calm to even react a bit whereas the case was completely opposite in case of Cabir.
"Whatt???! have you gone mad Manik...like seriously what were you thinking?, Cabir chided him being berserk.
"What's wrong with you Cabir ? Why you are overreacting??", Manik asked him.
"You are putting your hand in the mouth of tigress and asking me why am I overreacting ", he replied with sarcasm.
Manik immediately pulled the brake and shouted - "Get out".
"What?? Why you are getting angry so much?", he asked with concern.
"Cabir get out and go inside the house...I have some work", he replied sternly
"And what's that work?", Cabir moved out and questioned him again.
"I need to get the number right now", he spoke and started driving immediately to the destination known to himself.
It was seven by now. I came down, instructed the servants about dinner and went back to my room to change the clothes. I wore white shorts and pink tank top and made myself comfortable in the bed.
I was still little tired. I was half laying in my bed, with my eyes closed. I was again lost in the thoughts of Manik. It's been only a few days that I have met him but it feels good to be with him. He is a bit weird but by far he and Cabir are the best persons I had come across in this new college. I am comfortable with both of them, which is definitely a rare thing but Manik, his presence gives a different kind of feeling to me always. There is something that I am being dragged towards him. I am always attracted towards his lips..his touch...
My thought process was disturbed with the buzz of my phone. I opened my eyes and looked at the side table where my phone was kept.
Well no wonder ...it was him !!! Though I didn't wanted to pick it but then just to avoid any over concern from his side, I lifted the call.
"How come my Bhai has got so much time that he is calling his sweety ha"
"Bacha there is nothing like that and you know I was really busy otherwise it never happens..please"
"Oh please Bhai don't start all these at this hour...I don't want to talk to you...and before you ask me I am fine"
"Sweety don't be angry on me ...I am coming back in two days..please forgive me...and you know like always I will be ready to have any punishment ...but please...
"Fine then we will see at that time...bye for now and ya take care of yourself and good night Bhai"
I was just so much pissed on him...how dare he...first he goes without informing, then he doesn't have enough time to call in these days and now apologising like its a small thing. This time I am not forgiving you Bhai so easily...I will make sure you regret for what you have done. I was determined for a bad revenge...but how ...what should I do that he realises...
I was thinking all the nasty types of revenge which I could give but it was hampered as there was a constant sound of car horn coming from outside. I tried to ignore it but the sound increased hastily. Finally being miffed, I got up and went towards the balcony.
My eyes dilated after seeing the view near the entrance of my gate...I don't know whether it's real or am I dreaming. Manik was there sitting in his car near the entrance and was honking continuously. Ok ...may be for a second I would have given a thought that it was a dream but no after hearing the horrible continuous shrill sound of his car horn, there was not even a chance of thinking like that.
I hastily walked down the stairs and moved out towards the main gate. I asked the watchman to open the door and went towards his car. I leaned down to knock on his window.
"Manik come out right now", I kind of ordered him. He gave one sided smile and came out of the car with his full time attitude. Only Ayippa knows when will his attitude come down to earth.
"Nandini wo...", he tried to speak something but I intervened saying - "Let's go inside first then we'll talk."
I walked ahead and he followed me quietly without arguing, which is definitely a rare thing. I walked towards the swing in the garden and gestured him to sit along with me.
Five minutes were crossed and still none of us spoke anything. I was waiting for him to say something atleast. Speaking was far away, infact he was not even looking at me...god knows why he came also.
"Manik how you came here?", I tried to start a conversation.
"Wo actually...ha I came by car!", he replied trying to look at me.
"What??", like seriously how he always comes with these kind of answers.
"Actually I wanted to ask you something that's why I came here", he said after seeing my perplexed face.
"So you could have called na Manik...you came till here just to ask me something?", I asked being astonished.
"Yes I came here so that I don't have to come again if I have to ask you something", he answered softly while looking intensely in my eyes.
"Manik I am not understanding even a bit", I asked him while making faces.
"I wanted to ask you something but then I remembered that how will I ask when I don't have your number so I came here to ask your number so that I don't have to come again and again here just to ask you something", he replied still keeping an intense gaze at me.
A smile appeared on my face after hearing his so called reason. I looked down in order to hide my blush.
"9708745510", I answered still looking down.
"Nandini", I heard him calling very softly but I didn't looked up and just "hummed" as a reply.
"Since I am here I want to ask you now only", I looked up towards him. He was having a different look on his face...an honest look which I had not seen till now.
"Go ahead Manik", I replied looking deep in his eyes.
"Are you comfortable? I mean I know we have become friends but then this challenge and closeness...I mean to say that are you enough comfortable with me", he asked me while scrunching his eyes. This was the first time that I was finding him very sweet. He was caring about my opinion in spite of knowing that somewhere I have initiated it.
"Even if I wasn't ...but now I am definitely comfortable...you need not to worry", I replied him lovingly, trying to clear all his doubts. Finally he smiled...and I too reciprocated with a warm smile.
There was silence for about ten minutes and we both were gazing stars. There was so much peace in this silence. I so wanted to kiss him ... I wanted him to hold me kiss me like he had before...o god ...I am fed up of lusty thoughts about him...we are just friends and I should show some respect towards it.
"So miss crazy be ready to loose tomorrow...you know Manik Malhotra never loses", his voice brought me out of reverie.
"Then I think you should get to know Nandini Murthy...your belief will come to an end", I replied with sarcasm and he let out a chuckle.
"I should leave now ...its late", he said and we got up and went outside.
"Shyamlal ...call me immediately next time if you see him here otherwise our neighbours will complain about the horrible sound very soon", I said to the watchman while looking at Manik.
He smiled at me and replied - "good night and sweet dreams ...the horrible sound will not disturb you more tonight".
He moved ahead and sat in the car. We waved bye to each other and he went away.
@ps angel- I know you are going to tell me kya di challenge k bare me kch nahi dikhaya but what to do...this was a needed chapter...so next chapter me pakka pata chal jayega that who is going to win.😛
