Chapter 61
Kiss of friendship😳
'Miss Smart Nandini Murthy...one day...these lips will be mine forever and even your Amms won't stop you from kissing me' those words echoed in Nandini's ears as she lay down on her bed trying to close her eyes to sleep.
It was a beautiful evening. Nandini never thought that the night of Diwali would be this beautiful. 😳
'The way he gazed at me...Ayyappa...why did my heart tremble so much?' Nandini remembered the intense look in his eyes as he placed his finger on her lips and a smirk appeared on his lips.😛
Nandini looked away as she noticed the little smirk that appeared on his lips as he took his finger off her lips and placed his hand on her shoulder. He got closer as his palm travelled up her shoulder onto her neck and touched her cheeks cupping her cheeks and his eyes continued to look intensely at her.
'M..Manik' Nandini mumbled looking with a confused look at his face.
'Hmm?' Manik responded as his eyes continued to look deeply into hers.
'Tumne mujhe college se baahar kyon bulaaye? Why did you bring me here?' Nandini asked with a questioning look in her eyes. He gently traced his finger on her forehead tucking a lock of hair behind her ear.
'Because...I wanted to speak to you...I wanted you alone for myself' Manik said looking into her eyes.
'But kyon? Kya baat karna chahte ho tum mujhse?' Nandini asked with a questioning look in her eyes. 😕
Manik got closer to her as he planted a kiss on her forehead and Nandini never expected him to kiss her that way suddenly. He continued to stand with his eyes closed and his lips pressed against her forehead.
'M..Manik..ye tum kya kar rahe ho?' Nandini mumbled as she stood with her eyes closed.
Manik moved back and suddenly cupped both her cheeks and looked lovingly at her.
'Kissing you...can't I?' A smirk appeared on his lips as he said those words and a blush appeared on her cheeks as she looked away😳
'But kyon?' Nandini asked as she pressed her lips together nervously. Manik's eyes travelled to those lips that were pressed together and he realized that he is making her feel more awkward.
'Hmm...ok...let's be friends' Manik suggested looking at her with a smile on his face.
A huge smile appeared on Nandini's face as she heard those words. Nandini looked with a smile at Manik.
'This was the kiss of friendship.' Manik said with a smile on his face. That smile was genuine..that of a friend.
'Kiss of friendship?' Nandini asked with a questioning look in her eyes.
'Hmm..ya! I named it the kiss of friendship...do U want it to be something else?' Manik asked with a naughty shine in his eyes.
'N..No! It's kiss of friendship' Nandini said trying to save the situation.
'You know...friendship is give and take. We share...just like I shared my story with you...I gave my kiss of friendship to you'
'Haan' Nandini said with a smile on her face as she realized that indeed he did share his story with her.
'Ok now its your turn' Manik said with a smirk on his face.😛
'My turn?' Nandini asked her eyes widening.
'Ya..I mean I shared my story with you..so you share your story with me..and I need a kiss of friendship' 😛
'M..Manik..its getting late' Nandini mumbled looking away 'Aur chacha-chachi wait kar rahe honge'
'Ya..that's true..give me your phone' Manik said stretching his hand.
'Kyon?' Nandini asked with a confused look on her face as she stretched her phone towards him.
Manik took the phone from her hand and dialed a number.
'Ya Chachi..Manik here'
Nandini's eyes widened with shock as she realized that Manik has called up her chachi. Nandini tried to stop Manik and to snatch the phone away from him and turned away from her.
'Ya Chachi..wo kya hai..ke we are having a special midnight event which we friends are doing. Fab 5 and with us there is Nandini. Is it ok..if I drop Nandini off at home a bit late?' Manik asked as he looked with a smirk at Nandini. Nandini had a huge frown on her face as she pouted her lips in anger😛
'Haan Manik beta..kyon nahi? Nandu ko phone de na!' Chachi said to Manik.
'Haan chachi' Manik said obediently and stretched the phone towards Nandini 'Chachi wants to speak to you'
Nandini took the phone licking her lips a bit nervously as she whispered into the mouth piece 'Chachi..'
'Haan Nandu..tu kya ghar wapas aane ki jaldi kar rahi thi? Tu abhi college main hai aur Diwali party hai..tere saath Manik jaisa ek bahut hi sona munda hai aur tu ghar wapas aane ki soch rahi hai?'
'Wo chachi..main zyaada late ho jaaoongi tho chacha..' Nandini paused midway.
'Arre tere chacha ko tho main samjhaa doongi. Tujhe na Mumbai main apni pehli Diwali achche se enjoy karne chahiye. Aur Manik ne bola hai ke wo tujhe yahan safe pahuncha denge..tho tu enjoy karke aana, ok?' Chachi said with a huge smile.
'O..Ok chachi..' Nandini mumbled with a confused gaze in her eyes.
Nandini cut the call and looked at Manik with a frown on her face.
'Manik..why did you call chachi?'
'Tumne hi tho kaha tha..ke der ho rahi hai. I just stretched the night out time longer so that I can have you with me longer' Manik said with a smirk on his face.
'But kal classes haina..tho aaj jaldi sone haina' Nandini tried to make up an excuse.
'Hmm..you want to go back home now?' Manik suddenly asked as his tone changed and a frown appeared on his face.
'Hmm...no..' Nandini mumbled as she realized that she was again making Manik angry.
'So..my friend...let me take you somewhere'
'Kahan?' Nandini asked with a questioning look in her eyes.
'You'll know soon..and a surprise awaits you' Manik said with a little smirk on his face. 'Now get into the car'
Manik and Nandini got into the car as they resumed the drive.
'Tum mujhe kahan leke jaa rahe ho, Manik?' Nandini asked with a questioning look in her eyes.
'Hm...its a surprise' Manik said with a smile. 😛
The drive was not too long and all through the drive Manik and Nandini stole secret glances at each other. There were a few smirks and blushes here and there..but Nandini felt the most secure with Manik. They reached the destination and it was all dark.
'Ok..come out' Manik said as he got out of the car. Nandini also got out of the car and she realized that they were outside a gate and Nandini wondered if it was his house.
Manik suddenly took his phone out of his pocket and spoke into the phone.
'Yes..we are outside. Do as I instructed' Manik ordered suddenly. A few minutes passed in silence and suddenly the whole place lighted up. Nandini could now see the entire place. Nandini walked closer to gate and suddenly the gate opened automatically. The view within was beautiful. It's a beautiful garden with a stony pathway stretched out in front of them.
'Wowww Manik..this is sooo beautiful!!!!!' Nandini said as a huge smile spread over her face. 'Ye kahan hai??' 😃
Manik took her hand in his as he invited her to walk with him.
'Come..' Manik invited. Nandini entwined her fingers around his palm as she looked up at his face. He smiled back at her and looked at the hands that were now held together. Nandini and Manik walked in through the open gate into the beautiful garden. The pathway was wide enough for two people to walk through and Nandini looked around at the beautiful flowers that were blooming and the lights made the flowers have an entirely different glow. The beautiful fountain in the garden felt like golden water flowing in from it. They continued to walk inside and Nandini saw light everywhere. It felt like there were multi-coloured fireflies everywhere.
'These look like multi-coloured fireflires Manik..' Nandini said with a smile as she looked around. Manik smiled as he looked at her.
'You like fireflies?' Manik asked with a smile on his face.
'Yes I love fireflies..you know they glow in the night. They are my favourite'
'Hmm..' Manik said with a little sad pout on his face.
Nandini noticed the sad pout on his face and said 'But its ok na Manik..its Diwali aur Diwali pe fireflies nahi...lights hote hai!' Nandini said in a chirpy voice. 😃
Manik smiled back at her as they walked further and in front of them suddenly there was a single pathway with lights glowing on both sides which curved and they continued to walk through it. There was a beautifully decorated archway through which they walked ahead.
'Manik..where is this place?' Nandini asked with a questioning look on her face.
'This is my second home' Manik said as he smiled back at her.
'Second home?' Nandini asked with a questioning look on her face.
'Yes...this is where I come along with Fab 5 members to relax. This beautiful garden was made by my dadaji when he was alive. He was very interested in gardening and he started off with making this little garden. He was a very hardworking man. Unhone apne efforts se Malhotra Industries banaaye and after his death it got passed onto my dad and dadi always supported him in everything. But a lot was lost..after the death of my mom...' Manik said looking away.
'I know Manik...wo chodo..ye bataao ke ye sab tumne mere liye kiya?' Nandini asked with a huge smile on her face.
'It's the surprise I spoke of..' Manik said with a little smirk.
'Wow I'm impressed Mr. Manik Malhotra...' Nandini said with a smile.
'But more is there for you to see..Ms. Nandini Murthy' Manik said with a smirk.
'There is more?' Nandini asked her eyes widening.
'Hmm...come with me..you'll see soon' Manik said with a huge smile on his face.
'Ayyappa..this place looks like heaven on earth. Am I in heaven?' 😕😳
Nandini and Manik walked towards an open space and in front of them was a beautiful glowing tent and the floor was wooden. The tent was lighted up and glowing in the dark. There were pillows placed over the cushioned seats and in the centre was a teepoy placed.
Manik and Nandini together climbed the steps of the raised platform and reached the beautiful spot.
'Manik...all this is so beautiful!'
'I always wanted to bring a girl to this place. I always wanted her to as beautiful as this garden...as beautiful as this secret spot in my garden..where even Fab 5 members have not travelled to. This is a deviation from the main garden which stretches to my house.'
Manik made Nandini sit on the cushioned seat and sat next to her and held her hand in his. The night stars were shining brightly and so were Manik and Nandini.
'Now...we are together...just me and you...won't you want to take our friendship to a next level?' Manik asked caressing Nandini's cheeks.
'Next level?' Nandini asked with a confused look on her face.
Manik smiled and took her hand in his. He gazed into her eyes and she gazed into his.
'Ayyappa...what did he mean by next level? What will he say now?'😕😆
