"Don't come near me Manik!! I swear I will shoot", I pointed the gun at him and he swayed in front of me nonchalantly.
"Oh come on Nandu you know its not your cup of tea so stop being stupid and give it to me", he flapped his palm for me to hand over the gun to him.
"Sadly Mr Malhotra I am not that stupid...its over for you Manik..Appa and the cops are going to be here anytime and soon you will be where you should be"
The chuckle on his lips vanished in no time and now I could sense aggression in his movements.
"So you lied??...to me", Manik looked more shocked than angry. It was hard for him to digest that I could lie to him.
"Why do you look so surprised?? You only are my mentor in this lying business.. Its called being fair...Tit for Tat", I don't know how but I had sort of built in a sort of confidence in me may be because I had the gun or may be because for the first time I was seeing the victimized expression on the face of the culprit.
"Enough Nandini you have basically done everything that I had warned you not to", Manik gritted his jaws together bidding goodbye to the last ounce of patience in him and stepped closer to me.
"Stay where you are Manik or you will be sorry"
"Now I really want to be sorry..you want to shoot me na ..come on aim and shoot", he challenged me, "Come on shoot if you have the guts", he almost charged at me dismissing all my capabilities.
I tightened my grip over the gun to overcome my trembling state. A zillion things were running across my mind. I had thought I would be able to scare him and wouldn't need to go thus far but I was forced to do things I didn't intend. I jerked the gun in my hands once again to make him notice that I was dead serious about it. Manik came forward briskly and tried to grab the gun. Helpless I closed my eyes and just fired.
The impact was so massive that my whole body shook and was pushed backwards. I lost balance and fell on the floor with the gun slipping out if my grip. I was so scared that I couldn't help myself open my eyes and see what destruction it had caused.
"I shot him...I shot him", I muttered in my trembling state on the floor. I had hurt him or may be killed him because he didn't give me one sign that he was alive. I opened my eyes slowly to see in the direction where I had shot but he wasn't there.
