Chapter 11 Talk like a boy, Act like a girl😆
'Haan' Nandini whispered looking at Harshad with a shy smile on her face.
'Yayyy!' Harshad said with a victorious smile on his face. 'I'm so happy! So tomorrow evening be ready...we're going on a date'
Nandini couldn't sleep that whole night...she kept twisting and turning in her bed at the thought of going out with a guy.
The next day was a busy day but evening seemed to be going really fast. She never thought that the evening would come so fast and it did arrive. Nandini looked through the clothes in her cupboard and chose a pink coloured salwar kameez. She dressed up for the first time in her life trying to look her best and looked at herself in the mirror. 😳
Nandini liked the image she saw and smiled at herself as she got out of her room hanging her bag around her shoulder.
'Maa..main thodi der ke liye baahar jaa rahi hoon' Nandini said to her mother.
'Bete kahan jaa rahi ho?' her mother asked as she came inside and couldn't believe her eyes.
'Tu bahut sundar lag rahi hai...' her mother smiled at her touching her cheeks.
'Achcha maa...main thodi der ke liye jaa rahi hoon..bahut jaldi wapas aaoongi' Nandini said as she got out through the door. Her mother smiled thinking that finally Nandini has started to take care of her looks.
Harshad was waiting outside the restaurant where he had promised to meet her.
'Hii Nanduu...' Harshad waved to her as he gazed at her from top to bottom. 'Looking beautiful' he suddenly exclaimed.
Nandini shyly tucked her hair behind her ears as she smiled looking down for a moment.
'Chalo..andar chale?' Harshad asked and started to walk to the restaurant. Nandini followed him and both of them entered the restaurant. The restaurant was a high class restaurant and there were all rich people sitting everywhere. The girls were all in mini-skirts and she was the only one wearing pink salwar kameez. Nandini felt embarrassed that she was the only one looking a bit old-fashioned.
'Come sit' Harshad invited as he walked over and sat on one of the chair. Nandini walked up to him and then pulled the nearby chair and sat down.
Suddenly a waiter walked up to them.
'Tho tum kya logi?' Harshad asked looking at Nandini with a smile on his face.
'Main...kuch bhi...' Nandini mumbled nervously as she fidgeted a bit.
'Hmm...ok, waiter hamare liye do coffee aur do plate cutlets laao!' Harshad said to the waiter.
'Yes sir' the waiter said as he left from there.
'Hmm...tumhe restaurant dhoondne main takleef tho nahi hui na?' Harshad asked with a smile on his face.
'Nahi...' Nandini said with a shy smile on her face.
Harshad suddenly stretched his hand and caught hers over the table.
'Nandini...tum bahut sundar lag rahi ho aaj...' he said gazing at her.
'Ji...thanks' Nandini said with a little smile on her lips.
'Tho poore raat mere baare main soch rahi thi?' Harshad asked with a little smirk on his face.
'Ji?' Nandini asked looking up at him her eyes widening.
'JI ji kya? Comeon girl! Modern zamaana hai..U can speak freely! Aise hi shy baithi rahogi kya? Did U dream about me?' Harshad asked with a smile on his face.
'Ji...aise kuch nahi' Nandini said looking away shyly.
'Aise kuch nahi? Yaar U disappoint me! Main tumpe koi impact nahi banaa raha?' Harshad asked tracing his finger on her palm.
Nandini didn't know what to answer him. She looked nervously at him.
'Nahi...aise kuch nahi'
'Tho bolo...kya main tumhe pasand hoon?' Harshad asked with a little smile on his face.
'Hmm...' Nandini said nodding her head with a little smile on her face.
Suddenly two guys walked over to them and tapped him on his shoulder.
'Here's 200 rupees! Tune bet jeet liya!' one of the guys said to Harshad. 'Hum imagine bhi nahi kar sakte the..ke tu isko...iss behenji ko date pe laayega!' they laughed together.
Nandini looked with a shocked expression on her face.
'Tu dekh na yaar! Bahut aasaan tha! Isne tho mujhe pasand bhi kar liya' Harshad said with a smirk on his face.
Nandini couldn't believe her ears that the guy whom she liked all these days..admired all these days had such a face. 🤢
'Nanduu..thanks for coming on this date with me! Because of you..maine ye bet jeet liya' Harshad said with a victorious smile on his face.
'Tumne mere saath aise kyon kiya?' Nandini asked tears brimming in her eyes.
'Tu kitni bhi saje sawre..tu meri nazar main hamesha behenji type hi rahegi! Tujh jaisi ladki ko main khaas bhi nahi daalta...magar ye baat tu secret hi rakhna. Tune kabhi dekhe hai ke kis type ke girls mere irt girt ghoomte hai? They are hot, sexy girls...not behenji types like U!' Harshad said in a sarcastic tone.
Nandini tried to close her eyes tight and gulp in the insult that was being thrown at her.
'Waise bhi..tere paas paise bhi nahi hai! Tune kya socha tujh jaisi ladki jiske paas na style hai..na paisa hai..aisi ladki ke saath main pyaar karoonga? In your dreams!'
Suddenly one of the guys handed over the 200 rupees to him. Harshad smiled victoriously as he said 'Tere looks pe koi nahi marega jab tak U don't have the money! Money and looks...both hote..then I would've dated you! Ok...till you find someone who go for your looks...keep waiting, Nandu' Harshad crooned into her ears as he placed a 50 rupees note in front of her and left.
Nandini got up with tears in her eyes and shouted. 'Sunn, ruk jaa!!'
Harshad turned back and looked at her. Nandini walked over to him and gave him a tight slap. Harshad couldn't believe that he would get such a tight slap on his cheeks.
'Maine socha tha ke jitne tum achche dikhte ho...utne achche tum dilse honge! Isliye main tumhaare saath aayi! Magar agar pata hota ke tum jitne baahar se achche dikhte ho..andar se utne hi khokle ho..tho main tumhaare liye itne time waste nahi karti! Mujhe apne oopar hi gussa a rahi hai..ke main tujh jaise kameene ke liye itni der lagaayi..aise sajne sawarne ke liye! Tujh jaisa ladka jo ladkiyon ke respect nahi karta...pyaar ka respect nahi karta...usko koi haq nahi ladkiyon pe comment karne ke. Aur tune sahi bola! Paisa hi sab kuch hota hai! Tu dekh lena..ek din aisa aayega...ke mere paas paisa ho na ho..koi dilwala mujhe milega..aur wo mujhe chahega...meri looks like nahi...mere dil ke liye! Uss din main tujhse uski mulaqat karvaaoongi! Ye tamacha tab tak ke liye tum yaad rakhna' Nandini said and walked out of the restaurant as Harshad and his chamchas looked with shocked expression on their faces.😆
Nandini walked back into her home with tears in her eyes which she wiped away with the tip of her pallu. She ran into her room and felt her whole body and face boiling with anger and pain. She wiped her face and wanted to freshen herself up. As she stood under the running water from the shower..she took a vow.
'Aage se...kisike liye bhi aise hi main sajoongi nahi..jab tak poori tareeke se mujhe ye pata na lage ke wo mujhse sachcha pyaar karta ho. Aisi duniya jo ladkiyon aur ladkon main farak karte hai..unko main dikhaaoongi ke ladkiyon aur ladkon main koi farak nahi. Jab tak mujhe sachche pyaar karnewala nahi milta..jo mere dil se pyaar karenge...main ek ladke ke tarah dress pehnoongi...ek ladke ke tarah chaloongi phiroongi aur paisa kamaaoongi...itna paisa ke koi bhi ladka mujhpe ungli na uthaa paaye'
Nandini felt tears once again welling in her eyes as she opened her eyes. The present...once again made her stand in a place where she has to go on a date. A date which is not one where she will dress up like a beautiful girl. But now she must dress up like a boy to go on a date.
'Ayyappa...pata nahi meri zindagi main aise tests kyon aate hai...' Nandini thought as she closed the shower and got out wiping herself with a towel. Nandini didn't take much time to dress up, as she didn't have to wear any jewelry or make up..the way she did for her date with Harshad. Afterall, she is not going on a date as a girl. She wore a compression vest and upon it wore a brown coloured hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans and covered her head with the hoodie. 😳 Nandini called up at the 'Pizza Delivery hut' and informed her boss that she is unable to come for work today as she has some important matters at home. The boss was shouting over the phone, but Nandini just cut the call. 😆
'Jo bhi sunne hai..kal tho wahan jaake sunne hi hai...tho aaj trailer kyon sune?' Nandini thought to herself as she placed the phone in her pocket. 😆
Suddenly the phone started ringing and Nandini picked up the call.
'Hello? Tum aaye kyon nahi ab tak? Shopping nahi karne hai kya? I'm standing outside Oberoi Mall!' Manik said with a frown on his face.
Nandini couldn't believe her ears. 'He is so fast! How did he get ready so fast? Or perhaps I spent more time in shower..'
'Sir...I'm on my way...I'll reach there in another 5 minutes' Nandini said as she cut the call and rushed outside and kickstarted her bike. Nandini didn't know what is the speed at which she drove the bike, but it surely was the fastest😆
Suddenly Nandini's phone rang once again and it was Manik once again.
'Yaar, tum mujhe wait karvaa rahe ho? Main tumhaare payment se kaatoonga' Manik warned as he fidgeted impatiently.
'No sirrr noo!!' Nandini shouted into the phone as she realized that this new temporary boss is more irritating than her pizza delivery hut boss and suddenly cut the call.
'Hello??? Hellooo?' Manik shouted out into the phone as he looked angrily at the phone and muttered 'Mera phone kaatta hai?'😡
'Ayyappa pata nahi mere saare boss aise kyon hai!'😕 Nandini thought as she swerved her bike to park it in front of Oberoi Mall. Manik was standing right there in front of the mall and he was looking impatiently at the phone. Suddenly he started pushing the buttons of the phone. Nandini ran upto her and her phone started ringing.
'Hello!!' Nandini took the phone and shouted breathlessly into the phone.
'Haan UUU!! Tum mere phone kaatte ho? How dare you?' Manik shouted a bit angrily into the phone.
'Sir main yahan hoon..aapke peeche' Nandini said bending down trying to hold her breath as she looked up at Manik. Manik was looking at her and suddenly said. 'Ok, let's go! This dress cannot do!' 😛
'Sir fake date pe hi tho jaane hai..tho iss dress main kya kharaabi hai?' Nandini said suddenly.
'Nahi yaar...tu bilkul gay type nahi dikh raha' Manik said looking at her.
'M..Matlab? Aap mere look gay type ke banaaoge?' Nandini asked her eyes widening.
'Nahi yaar..hum dono matching colour dress pehnenge..like lovers do and tujhe thode zyaada girlish dikhne padenge..warna Indian concept ke gay nahi honge' Manik said suddenly. 😛
'Indian concept ke gay?' Nandini repeated after him.
'Tujhe na...thode se aur cute dikhne hai..I mean thodi si aur girlish..tabhi baat jamegi. Teri thodi si makeup karwaaoonga aur hum dono matching dress pehenne padenge..aur tujhe girlish actions dikhaane padenge! Tune wo waali movie tho dekhi hogi na...Dostana! Usmein yaad hai..kis tarah John Abraham act kar rahe the..aur wo boss act kar raha tha..uss tarah ke girlish actions dene padenge!' Manik explained to her.
'Matlab..mujhe ladki ke tarah behave karne padenge?' Nandini asked her eyes widening.
'Haan yaar..don't worry! Tujhe ladki ke tarah dress nahi pehenne hai..bas girlish act karne hai and talk like a boy. So U must talk like a boy, act like a girl! Aur main boyfriend ke tarah act karoonga..poore rehearse karke hi jaayenge' Manik said as they both reached in front of a boutique.
'Chal andar chalte hai..aur hum dono ke liye matching dress khareedenge' Manik said as he entered the boutique.
Nandini entered after him into the boutique as she looked with a perplexed look and said to herself 'Ayyappa...main kya karoongi? He think I'm a boy when really I'm a girl. Now he wants me to act girlish and talk like a boy...aur rehearse bhi karvaana chahta hai..pata nahi main kya karoongi..please mujhe bachaana' 😕
