Manik & Nandini - Stars & Fireflies 109
They say love never dies; true when you care for someone, when you love someone with every inch of your existence you just can't stop loving them for their mistakes. They might break your heart into thousand pieces but you still love them with every broken piece of your heart.
Manik woke up again without Nandini by his side. "unbelievable! I am head over heels in love with her and she runs off every morning like this ughh." And before he could shout her name he found a note. "I know you are pissed cause I am leaving but if you remember DJ has hired me to work for her so I need to be at Mansion early in the morning. Your and Cabir's breakfast is on the table and coffee in the machine. Pick me up from the Malhotra Mansion for college. - Nandini" Manik smiled at the note and thought "One day she will drive me crazy." He smiled and walked down to check on Cabir but found him already enjoying his morning coffee and sun on the terrace. Manik took his cup and joined Cabir "Good morning dude. How are you and you are up early." Manik asked. Cabir smiled and said "well firstly I am doing awesome and secondly benefits of early rising get to spend time with a beautiful girl when her boy friend is still sleeping like kumbhkaran."Cabir burst out laughing. Manik rolled his eyes and asked "Nandini spoke to you?" Cabir smiled and said "yes we spoke for some 45 minutes when you were sleeping." Manik made a mental note to get up early to spend some time with her.
"good morning DJ!" Nandini enetered her room with her favorite tea and a huge smile. Getting infected by her smile DJ too smiled back and asked "good morning beta. You seem very happy what's the reason?" Nandini handed her the cup and said "Manik. He was asking about you last night and even thanked me for taking care of you." Nandini gave the piece of news to Dj which was her medicine infusing life into her. They saw every cloud has a silver lining and today DJ was found that silver lining. Finally there was hope for her and Manik. "Dj I even asked him to come to Mansion to pick me up so you can meet him then." Nandini's words were sounding music to DJ. She couldn't ait to meet Manik; she felt herself recovering even with the thought of Manik being there with her. She soon called the butler and asked them to prepare manik's favourite breakfast.
Manik and Cabir were having breakfast when the other three barged into the pent house. "good morning guys." Fab3 greeted them. "hey guys!" Manik and Cabir greeted them and all of them settled down for breakfast when "good morning lil bro." Abhi's voice broke their chats. "Abhi!" Mukti got up and hugged him and Manik followed her with a smile and hugged Abhi. After settling himself down he said "You didn't call me so I self invited me to your house." Abhi said. Manik felt bad for not asking him or Damini to visit "Aaa who.." he was looking for a valid excuse when Abhi chipped in and said "Chill I was kidding. I came here to discuss the concert with you 5. We have spoken to principal and he has agreed for the full support." His information brought happiness on everyone's face.
Abhi continued "I have approached few event management companies and a few sponsors also for underwriting the event. Since it will be a charitable event we have to keep the ticket prices low and market it as much as possible so that the turnout is huge." Everyone nodded in agreement. "We can bank on heavily on online publicity." Cabir informed "We have our own Fab5 fan account pages which can be used to reach out for the right audience." Cabir said. "That's great Cabir you and Nandini sit and finalize the details. Meanwhile I will go and talk to few charitable organizations and hospitals who will support us and our cause."
Having said that Abhi got up and pecked Mukti and took leave from everyone. Just as he was about to leave he turned back and said "and yes guys you don't have to come to SPACE you can compose your music right here I took permission from princi. Just occasional visits are ok." "wow!" as fab4 reslished on the news Manik was in a dilemma that Nandini would be waiting for him at the Mansion to pick her up and also he wanted to see DJ once.
Manik picked up his keys and started to go out when Dhruv stopped him saying "buddy where are you going?" "Who Dhruv I have to pick Nandini for college." Manik explained. "Oh hoo." Fab4 said in chorus and Manik rolled his eyes. "oye romeo Nandini khud college ja sakti hai.. tujhe milne se pehle who khud his ja sakti hai." Muktichuckled winking at Abhi and Abhi joined in trolling Manik "Are lil bro I will drop Nandini you focus on music in fact we will meet the NGOs together." Saying this Abhi made him sit on the couch and walked out winking at him as fab4 were laughing at his plight.
Nandini and DJ were waiting for Manik at the breakfast table. DJ kept looking at her waych every now and then; she was getting impatient to see Manik. She had made sure that every single dish Manik loved in breakfast was prepared on her instructions. Nandini smiled on seeing her excitement and decided to call Manik. Just as she was about to dial his number she got a call from him. "hey Manik." She said getting DJ's attention. "umm princess I won't be able to come and pick you up. I am stuck up with the practice so Abhi is coming to pick you up. I will see you in the evening. Bye." Manik informed her and disconnected the call. Nandini looked at DJ who was looking at her with much anticipation. "When is he coming Nandini?" she asked; Nandini lowerd her eyes and replied "he is not coming DJ." DJ smiled sadly and said "I knew he won't come." And she asked the servant to take her to her room. Soon Abhi came in and explained Nandini that Manik was nowhere at fault as it was everyone's decision and he in fact wanted to come and pick her up. "but Abhi DJ is heart broken." Nandini expressed her displeasure. "But Nandini it was the need of the hour." Both agreed and went for their meetings.
It was around noon and fab5 were still working on their music. They had made some excellent progress in composing a new song for the concert. But one person who was restless the whole time was Manik; he hadn't seen Nandini since last night forget seeing he even didn't hear her voice. Everytime he picked up his phone to call her anyone from fab4 would drog him with them and everytime she called Cabir or Dhruv answered the call; they all had great fun trolling the love birds and both Manik & Nandini sighed as they will have to wait to wait till evening to meet each other and the time also seemed to be againat them by moving at snail's pace.
"I am hungry." Announced Mukti. "Me too guys let's order something." Alya seconded her. "Cool so what do you guys wanna eat?" Dhruv took out his phone and all them sat deciding or rather fighting on what to order. Just then the door bell rand and Manik anticipating Nandini ran at lightning speed opened the door to find Damini. "badi ma!" he hugged her and welcomed her to his house. "Wow it's a beautiful house." She said coming inside "hey kids." She greeted them and Mukti ran to her and hugged her "hey mom." And everyone went aww at the cute saas bahu scene. "I brought lunch for you guys. Its afternoon and you must be hungry." Cabir said "thanks aunty you are a savior." Damini smiled and proceeded to the kitchen to serve the lunch. Manik walked in saying he wanted to help her. "um..badi maa woh.." manik tried to ask something but was hesitant. Damini understood and said "DJ is fine. She misses you a lot and today also was waiting for you in the morning." Manik didn't reply anything and walked out of the kitchen saying all are waiting for lunch.
Once the lunch was over all of them were sitting enjoying their desert when Manik asked Damini "Badi ma can I ask for a favor?" Damini replied "of course beta anything for you." Manik smiled and said to fab4 "guys what I am gonna tell you guys should stay between us Nandini should not know." All of them got curious as to what could be the thing that Manik wants to keep as a secret. He then turned to Damini and continued "badi maa its Nandini's birthday in 5 days. She has forgotten it in all this drama so I wanted to plan a special surprise party for her at our Madh Island beach house; the same place where she planned a party for me. If you don't mind can you please plan it" Manik's information brought a smile on everyon'e face as after days of gloom they all found a reason to celebrate. "Wow its Nandini's birthday." Damini exclaimed "I will plan the best ever birthday party for her." She assured Manik making him smile. After a little discussion on the theme and rest of the details Damini bid them good bye and Manik came to drop her to the car. "Badi maa there is one more favor I want from you. Can you come for shopping with me?" saying this he whispered something in her ear making her go all smiles; she nodded in agreement and left.
It was almost evening when everyone left Manik's pad. Mukti went to meet Damini to help her in Nandini's party; Dhruv and Alya went for a dinner date and it was just Manik and Cabir who were sitting on the terrace looking at the setting sun. "Manik!" Nandini's voice made him feel alive. He turned to see her smiling face "Nandini." He said as if he started breathing again. They both ran to each other and hugged each other as if they were waiting to be each other's arms for years. She hid herself in him and he hid her in him as if they both wanted to vanish together and not be found.
Love is not about being together all the time; its about when you are away from each other but still together in love. Love is all about when you see your beloved after a long time and when you hug them as if it is the first time; when you kiss them as if it is the last time.
