People say that it is difficult to find true love, and when it is found, it is difficult to let go. So was in the case of Manik and Nandini - To be more precise, The Manik Malhotra, and a small town commoner, Nandini Murthy.
Manik Malhotra, the most handsome guy any one could ever see in this whole century. Aah, those Greek God looks could kill anybody. Leave girls, he didn't even let the guys go! He was the guy whom girls hated to love. He was a criminal, a heartless criminal. He had the most rude and arrogant persona. Who could think that one day he himself will fall in love with girl, opposite to his character - opposite to him?
He fell irrevocably and madly in love with her. He could lift mountains high above the skies for her. He could die a thousand deaths for her and he did die a thousand and one.
He was the one who didn't believe in love and he was the one who was trapped in it, with no way out. He couldn't let go of her. But he did.
He did let go of her, but for her own happiness.
The girl who shined for him, brought him out his darkness, he left that girl. He left her, forever, hamesha!
He was the villain of his own story.
True love is not only about going on dates and hugs and kisses. It is about understanding without words, drinking the pain, giving without any expectations, and... sacrifices.
He did sacrifice his love, for her. For her happiness!
It is not true that love happens only once. It can happen twice, thrice and many more times. But who said with different people? It can happen again and again with that one person. And Our Manik Malhotra fell in love with our Nandini Murthy for a thousand times.
He knew that he was a monster. He knew that he was a drunkard retard and he knew that he would never be able to keep her happy. He was going through an incurable lung disease which could be the cause of his death soon.
He didn't have time. He was already dying and after letting her go, he died a thousand times more.
Love is the only strength and weakness of a person. And that strength and that weakness which we call love, was Nandini Murthy, for him.
He left her. She fought and cried and then again fought for her love. But his love was more powerful than hers. He broke her hopes with his broken heart and went away. Far away, from her! For her!
And today, when he is back to her world. He couldn't see her happy, happy with another person.
Yes, it was his mistake, his mistake to let go of his strength, of his love, of his Nandini.
He being blindly overpowered by love, left her.
Only because he didn't have time. Time to fulfill her wishes, to see her happy with him.
Only because he wanted to see her happy, forever. He wanted to see her happy from above the skies.
But God wanted him to pay for his bad deeds. He was left alive. He was left alive to live alone.
His incurable liver disease magically got cured. But it left him with a fatal heart disease. A disease of pain and hatred.
The girl, Nandini Murthy, whom he loved, whom he loved with all his heart and soul, hated him. She was in love with someone else. In love with someone whose love was her strength and not her weakness.
He was weak enough to let her go. He was weak... too weak...
He finally lost her. He finally lost her seeing her marrying someone else under the dim moonlight amidst a loud thunderous applaud from his friends.
And his heart lost all the little hopes when he saw her happy with him.
His friends, who no longer were his, made her fall in love with a right person.
The only thing they did right since they met her.
He finally understood what he was.
A heartless coward, for his heart was with Nandini Murthy, and her heart was of no longer within his reach.
He smiled amidst crying, he smiled seeing her happy. But he cried, seeing her happy with someone else.
The Manik Malhotra, finally died inside, losing his hope, his love, Nandini Murthy.
She taught him to love nature, to love what she loved with her dear heart, to love fireflies -the most precious thing in her life. Her mother said that fireflies glow when there is true love. And they glowed in their love. And they are still glowing for Manik Malhotra.
But to him, the most precious thing was Nandini.
Nandini, who hated stars, because of a mere incident, started loving them. Why?
Only because of him.
Only because of the person who broke her into pieces.
She called him her star as he named her, his firefly.
They shone for each other.
But now, the story of her star and his firefly is no more.
He was no longer her star, but she was still, and would always be his firefly!
