I know i promised a long update but I experienced my famous brain freeze so ended up writing a short only.. Sorry

Manik & Nandini - Stars & Fireflies 73

It is said when we are often thrown in the darkest corners of life we choose the brightest way out.. Manik and Nandini both were in the darkest hour.. as a mater of fact Manik always has been in the darkness he kinda owns the darkness but nandini she's the starlight, the goddess of light spreading light and love... but today she wanted to be in he darkness.. But a wise guy said "it is in the darkest of hours we see the brightest of stars" so now manik decided to shine for his star, to shine for both of them...

Manik sneaked in nandini's room.. he saw chachi sleeping on couch blissfully. manik turned his attention towards nandini.. "hello stranger.." he caressed nandini's cheeks.. she was pale, weak with dark circles under her eyes and her pain pierced manik's heart like an ice dipped dagger which kills us without us feeling anything... he stood there numbed by her condition.."what did i do?" this line manik might have spoken maybe for the Nth time to himself since nandini's accident... he felt week on his knees and unable to stand any more and letting his urge to snuggle her manik carefully laid next her.. he was careful enough not to disturb her peaceful sleep..

he slowly cuddled her in his arms very delicately... he pecked her nose softly and smiled "itna gussa.. height mein mujhse aadhi but look at you anger double my height.." manik smiled at his lover boy talk.. "wow manik malhotra! i never thought i would talk like this one day.. smile like an idiot.." manik blushed as he thought the changes in his behaviour... he looked at the petite girl sleeping next to him and turned towards her and smiled and whispered "thanks for coming in my life my angel.." he took her in his embrace and drifted in sleep...

It was 5 am when nandini slowly tried to wake up cause she was feeling thirsty... she wanted to call out for chachi but she was too weak and under influence of drugs.. suddenly she felt a nuzzle under her neck and looked to find manik hugging her close to his heart and sleeping with a smile.. nandini could not stop herself from admiring his cute face.. he was holding her as if his life depended on her touch... she ruffled his hair with all her love cause even though nandini was angry on him but still at the end of the day she wanted to be in his embrace which would just vanish all her pain and suffering by just holding her together..

her touch brought a smile on his face... even in deep sleep he knew her touch...she smiled and said "godzilla.." but then suddenly like the dark clouds overshadowing a beautiful shining sun memories of that dreadful canteen day came running back to haunt her.. tears swelled her eyes.. she felt choked by his touch and in a jerk she pushed him away with whatever strength she had...

"Thud.." a huge sound echoed in the room and manik woke up baffled.. he was shocked to find himself on floor.. "are manik beta.." chachi came running to him.. manik who was in deep sleep was too shocked to understand how he landed up on floor.. "how did you end up here manik?" chachi asked trying to get him up and failing... "exactly! I was up there sleeping next to nandini and then here.." manik spoke rubbing his eyes and yawning.. "manik what are you doing in my room.." nandini's voice broke his sleep.. "why did come back again?" nandini was raging in anger..

"nandini you could have asked me that nicely also why push me?" manik's question made nandini more angry.. "manik please don't do this anymore?" she said in pleading voice.. "i am hurt and broken so please stop it..and you are not getting forgiveness from me.." nandini said with tears swelling and she was fighting hard not to let them flow.. manik looked at her with teary eyes and said "nandini.." he walked near her as chachi walked out to get some coffee and give them some privacy... "go away manik.." nandini kept mumbling it softly while not looking at him... manik sat close to her held her hands and kept his head on her shoulder and said "this life is for you nandini.. i exist cause you exist.. i breath cause you breath..you are my life nandini.." he took her in his embrace and started crying like a baby...

nandini too couldn't hold it back for long and held his arms, rested her head on them and cried... their sobs filled the silence of night.. these were the tears of two people deeply and madly in love with each other.. one was crying cause she wanted to go back to what it was but could't as she was broken badly while the other cried for breaking her this way.. the night didn't seem to end nor their tears... hearing a cries a nurse came running and witnessed the entire scene.. just as she was admiring manik and nandini chachi came and patted her back.. the nurse wiped her tears and said "i have been working here for 25 years and have seen all kinds of people in here.. angry, sad, soft, hard..people in love..people not in love but they.. they are something else..." She said..

"that love is something else.." chachi sighed hearing this "god knows kiski nazar lag gayi inko.." the nurse smile and said "don't worry they have found their way back to each other..." pointing towards the way manik and nandini were holding each other and crying.. meanwhile manik and nandini satyed in that position for some time and then manik finally broke the hug realizing that nandini is still a patient and it wasn't even 24 hours had had that dreadful surgery..

by the time manik broke the hug even nandini was feeling dizzy and was fainting.. manik panicked and called for the nurse.. she came running as manik made her lie on the bed.. she checked nandini and said "she's fatigued due to crying.." she gave her drip and manik a assuring node to manik.. soon nandini slipped into sleep while manik sat holding her hand with tears flowing non stop..

chachi patted his back and wiped his tears and said "where's the confident manik who came to me and asked for a chance with my daughter.. i want that manik for my daughter not this one.." hearing her soothing words manik hugged her and again sobbed.. after a while he let go of chachi... chachi asked manik to sleep on couch as she would go home and come back later... Manik agreed and chachi left... "i'll fight for us nandini cause what you and i have is worth fighting for.." he kissed her forehead and went to couch for a sleep with his eyes just gazing her...
