You are not that bad
"Wake up honey bee! You'll get late." Aliya threw an apple on me. I catched at it and threw it away. She was waking me up from the past 10 minutes and I was in no mood to get up from my deep slumber.
"Aliya 5 more minutes, please." I pleaded. I wanted to sleep more, as I was too tired and this was going to be a hectic day, no doubt. And I didn't even sleep well last night.
"No baby you will get late. It's almost time for your bus." She said from her bed and I jerked up.
"Jesus! I will get late." I jumped out of the bed and ran into the washroom.
"Haha, don't you know, Nandini Murthy never gets late!" Aliya mimicked me and I threw the toothpaste at her. Yes, my name is Nandini. Nandini Murthy. (James bond styleee 😆)
"I so miss college. I also want to go." She said from the bed. She sounded upset. Actually, she was really not well and that's why she had to miss college.
"Aww. Two more days left and you will rejoin." I shouted from inside the bathroom. She just hmmed and I think, again drifted to sleep as I didn't hear her reply.
I got ready in 10 minutes and ran towards the bus stop to catch my bus. In no time, I was in the bus, pushing through the crowd to do my daily chore, i.e., find myself a seat which I couldn't find, again.
I sighed and stood at my daily place and went through my half gone novel. The bus stopped at a stop and 3 more students pushed themselves inside. A guy came and stood beside me, I thought I had seen that jacket before. NO! He is the same guy!
"Are you following me?" I asked, a bit loudly.
He looked up from his phone, towards me. He was surely a thing to drool over. Extraordinarily handsome, brown chocolaty eyes, perfect lips and aah that jawline. Wait, what was I thinking.
"It's not your private bus, miss." He spoke, mildly amused by my behavior.
"So what? This can't be a coincidence! I will file a complain against you." I said pouting angrily.
He narrowed his eyes and replied, "Excuse me?!"
"What excuse me? Stay away okay!" I replied almost tearing off his face with my eyes and maintaining a safe distance from him.
"Oh hello! I am going to my college. Nothing else okay!" He said with equal anger in his eyes. He was kind of annoyed already.
"Oh really? If you live here then why didn't you step off here yesterday? Why did you come till my stop?" I asked with more anger and curiousity. Of course,I was too curious to know the reason. It didn't let me sleep the whole night.
"I wa... Leave! You would never understand." He spoke rudely and drifted his attention towards his phone.
"How..." I trailed off but was stopped by the sudden pushing of students. Uh oh, it was my stop. I stepped off without saying a word.
"Okay, you are not going in that bus anymore. Aryamann is going to drop you from now!" Mukti ordered as soon as she listened to my story.
"No. It will take him double time. My place is opposite to his way." I told him and changed the page of the book.
"No Nandini! What if he is really following you?" She said and put her hand on my shoulder.
"I will manage. Nothing's gonna happen. I think I am just thinking too much." I said and smiled at her.
"Yah maybe. Give me a call if anything wrong happens. Hmm?" She asked me and I nodded.
"You two! Get out of my class, right now!" The professor's shouted throwing a chalk at our side.
"Easy man! We are going." Mukti replied and grabbed my hand to go.
"No we can't Mukti. This topic is too important." I said shoving off her hand.
"I said out!" He shouted again and all the eyes of the classroom drifted towards us. Mukti looked at me with pleading eyes.
"You owe me for this." I said to Mukti as I sprinted across the room to the door.
"Sorry, chotti!" She shouted from behind and ran towards me. I was out of the class but still could listen to the humiliating giggling of the students of my class.
"How many times are we going to miss our classes like this, Mukti?" I asked her as we started walking towards the canteen.
"Chill na! We will cover up, don't worry. I was getting suffocated in there." She put his hand around my shoulder and we chit chatted on our way towards the canteen.
"Aryamann, call Cabir na! He is too much busy nowadays. I haven't seen him in college since weeks." Mukti elbowed Aryamann and spoke.
"Wo kal ayega. He called in the morning." He said and opened his laptop.
"Guys, meri class hai. I am going. Bye!" I hugged them and went to my class.
"Nandini wait!" The music teacher called me from the back.
"Yes sir?" I spoke as he jogged and stood beside me.
"Actually, the Eastern and Western Universities are having a group ceremony for some official thingy. So, some of their students and some of ours will be grouped together for a performance. Please don't say no. Your voice is magic." He spoke in one single breathe and waited for my reply.
"Sir... Umm fine, I will." I hesistated but then agreed.
"Okay cool then, meet me at 5 tomorrow after college." He spoke and smiled.
"Yup, of course." I smiled back and went away cursing under my breathe. I was already too much stressed and now this function. Moreover, the Eastern students. I hated them all, except Aliya.
The rest of the day went a bit too chaotic that I couldn't spare a single moment to think about him. I got late again and it was 7 which meant that I had to take the same bus and would probably face that stranger again.
"Take care! And call us if anything happens, okay?" Aryamann said hugging me.
"Yup. I will take care. Bye!" I see off-ed them and went towards my bust.
I entered inside the bus and found that the same guy was too much busy, talking with... Wait, was it Cabir? What was he doing with him? He knows him? No, Jesus!
"What are you doing here?" I asked Cabir, shouting. I haven't seen him properly since last one week and now when I see him, he is busy talking with that stranger!
"Oh hey chottu, actually I came to give him Navya's watch. She left it at my place." He spoke and hugged me. "I will see you at the college tomorrow, take care." He got off the bus and went inside the college.
"How do you know him and Navya?" I asked him as he sat beside me in the bus. I didn't really ask him to go away from there nor did I went away. Maybe I just wanted to talk to him.
"Chottu" He muttered and smiled. He smiled, maybe, his most charming smile ever.
Maybe I got lost into his smile when he clicked his fingers, embarrassing me. "Navya's my cousin and Cabir is her boyfriend" He stopped and asked. "How do you know him?"
"He is my best friend and Navya is his girlfriend." I said and smiled. And he, too, smiled.
We didn't speak anything to each other after that. Just smiled.
"By the way, what's your real name chottu?" He asked, giggling a little.
I glared at him. "Don't call me that! It's Nandini."
"Nandini! Nice name." He praised and smiled again causing his dimple to sink against his cheeks.
"What's yours?" I asked, still looking into my book.
"For me to know and you to find out." He said and winked at me. "Get off, it's your stop." He spoke and stood up.
I gave him a confused look and he helped me to step out of the bus. He waited there till I went inside my aparment and then crossed the road to the opposite bus stop.
I went outside at my balcony and smiled at him, he too smiled and waved me and went away.
"You are not that bad." I whispered to myself while seeing the bus retreating.
