CHAPTER-7

BUSINESS TRIP ?!?!?!

In the flight:

Manik and Nandini boarded in their flight. They had adjacent seats, Manik sat near the window and Nandini sat next to him. It was a three seater, and the seat next to Nandini was empty. Within a few seconds, a man came and sat near her on the other side. He gave some kind of ugly looks to Nandini and she felt uncomfortable on this. She didn't say anything but Manik understood it by her expressions.

Manik: So Nandini, do you like the window seat??

Nandini nodded her head in a "yes".

Manik: Really?? Actually I don't like. So can we exchange our seats??

Nandini: Okay sir, if you want.

Nandini understood the reason why he was exchanging the seats. She felt good seeing his protective nature. Then they exchanged the seats. That man was still staring at Nandini. After exchanging the seats, Manik gave him a deadly glare and after that he didn't dare to look at her again. The airhostess announced the departure of the flight. Both Manik and Nandini fastened their seatbelts. Nandini closed her eyes and murmured "Aiyappa please be with me". Manik heard this and laughed.

Manik: What happened??

Nandini: Sir, promise me you won't laugh.

Manik: Ok promise, I won't.

Nandini: Actually I am little bit afraid of flights.

Manik: (trying to control his laughter) Well seriously?? But why?? Let me guess, are you afraid that the plane will fall off from the sky?

Nandini made a cute angry pout and turned her face towards the window. She then felt something in her hand, it was Manik's hand holding her hand.

Manik: Don't worry. Nothing will happen. I am there na.

Nandini: I know you will never let anything happen to me.

Saying this both smiled at each other and had a cute eye-lock. They were interrupted by the airhostess who served them something to drink. While both were taking a sip they were like "why did I even tell that??". They had a calm and good journey for the next two hours and finally reached Goa.

@ The arrivals:

Both of them walked out of the airport and were waiting for their car. They waited long but no one turned up. Nandini sat on her suitcase and was looking here and there as if a lost kid was looking for his parents. Manik now couldn't stop himself from admiring her. She noticed Manik and gave him a "what" look. He smiled at the face she made and nodded gesturing "nothing". Then there came their car.

Driver: Mr and Mrs Malhotra??

Manik and Nandini immediately nodded sideways hearing that. The driver gave them a questioning look.

Manik: I got it! The driver mentioned my parents name, as my mom and dad often come to goa.

Nandini: oh... That's ok.

Then both of them sat in the car and the driver dropped them to the hotel. Throughout the journey Nandini was looking out through the window and enjoying the sight of goa, unaware of someone's intense gaze on her. It was our own Manik, he didn't even bother to look out even for a second. He felt content by just looking at her face.

@ The hotel:

Both of them reached the hotel and Nandini was so tired and she went and sat on the couch in the reception area. Manik went to the reception and a guy who looked like the manager of the hotel greeted them.

Manager: Welcome sir, we were waiting for you. Here is the key to your resort.

Manik was confused as he didn't book any resort. Then he thought that it must have been booked by Sharma uncle. He wanted to enquire about this, but seeing Nandini yawning he decided to go to the resort. Both of them walked to the resort.

@ The resort:

Manik checked the tag on the keys and found that the resorted allotted to them was in the last. They walked through the footpath in the middle, and there were a dozen of resorts lined one after another. All of them allotted to couples who were newly married and had come to Goa for honeymoon. Manik figured out that something was fishy. They reached their resort. Manik opened the door and both of them went inside. It was a beautiful resort with a living room, a small kitchen and a bedroom with a beautiful balcony attached to it. Nandini threw herself on the sofa and Manik ordered some dinner for them. Then he carried the luggage to the bedroom. As soon as he opened the door he saw that the room was decorated with flowers and candles. He understood that there were some misunderstandings. He didn't know what to do and slammed the door immediately before Nandini could see it.

Nandini: (getting up from the couch) What happened sir??

Manik: Nothing ...(giving her a fake smile).

Nandini got up and walked towards the bedroom. Manik did not know what to do. He wanted to stop her before she sees those decorations.

Manik: (blocking Nandini's way) Where are you going??

Nandini: Sir?? I am going to the bedroom to fresh up.

Manik: fre...freshup??? For what?

Nandini gave him a confused look.

Manik: (stammers) I mean the room... The room is not clean. I think they forgot to clean the room before giving to us. You wait here, I will talk to the manager and come. And yeah, don't go inside.

Nandini was now sure that something is wrong with the bedroom and was curious to know what it was.

Nandini: Okay... I won't go in, if you don't want me to.

Manik nodded his head and he went out to meet the manager. As soon as he went out, she went towards the room and opened it. She was shocked to see the decorations and understood why Manik didn't allow her to see the room. But she loved the arrangements, it was simple yet very beautiful. She then slowly moved towards the bed, it was decorated with roses. In the center of the bed, a big heart was made with red roses and there was heart shaped pillow with wordings "Just Married". She took the pillow in her hand and was blushing. Suddenly Manik came and shocked to see Nandini inside the room.

Manik: (little irritated) Nandini, I told you not to enter na.

Nandini: (understanding everything) Sir, so this the the reason why you stopped me? (pointing toward the whole room)

Manik: (giving her a fake smile) well actually...

Both felt awkward by the situation. There was a complete silence in the room. Both didn't know what to say.

Manik: I went to check for the availability of other rooms, but there are no rooms in the hotel for three days. And the couple for whom the resort was booked, cancelled it. And they misunderstood us to be the couple.

Manik felt bad for making such excuses in front of her. He cursed himself for not booking the room in advance. Nandini saw him, he was feeling little guilty.

Nandini: That's ok sir, I don't mind to stay here. We have a beautiful balcony over here, and who will not love to stay here.

Manik felt somewhat better after hearing it. Then she walked towards the balcony and was admiring the beautiful waves of the sea. He also went and stood beside her. She then closed her eyes and felt the beautiful atmosphere and the cold air around them. As usual Manik's glare was on Nandini, but this time Nandini opened her eyes and saw him glaring at her. She felt weak by his intense glare on her. She also got drowned in his ever charming brown eyes. Manik came a little closer and held her waist. He bought his face close to her. She started breathing heavily and closed her eyes. He came more close to her and he was about to kiss her, but the doorbell rang breaking their moment. They stepped back from each other and both felt extremely embarrassed by the situation. The doorbell rang again, Manik went and opened the door and it was the waiter with their dinner.

Manik came inside with the dinner and placed the plates in the table. He looked inside the bedroom, waiting for Nandini to come. But she didn't come out. As each moment passed he became more worried. He was looking at the door constantly. Finally she came. She changed herself in her night suit and came and sat opposite to him. She behaved as if nothing happened. Manik didn't utter a word. She served for him and also herself. She started to eat and gestured him to eat, he nodded like an obedient boy and had his dinner. An awkward silence prevailed throughout the dinner. They completed their dinner. He saw Nandini and she looked very tired because of the travelling. Finally Manik gathered courage and spoke, breaking the silence.

Manik: Nandini, I think you should go and sleep.

She just nodded her head. Manik was worried as she didn't utter a single word after that moment.

Manik: So you sleep in the bedroom and I'll sleep here on the couch.

Nandini: But sir it's okay. I'll sleep over here, you go and sleep on the bed.

Manik: No, you sleep in the bed. It won't look good if I sleep in the bed, letting you sleep in the couch.

Nandini: (smiled) Good night sir.

Manik: Good night Nandini.

Manik felt relieved that Nandini finally spoke and even smiled. Then Manik went towards the balcony area, which was attached to the living room, and was looking at some files required for the next day's presentation. He then started to think why he behaved in such a way with Nandini. He never felt attracted to any girl like the way he was attracted to Nandini, something was dragging him towards her. Her glowing face, her twinkling eyes, her cute smile something was dragging him so much. He fell asleep like that, thinking about her.

Nandini went to the bedroom and sat on the bed. She then called her Amms to inform about her arrival. Then she texted her friends, as she was too tired to call and talk to them. She arranged her clothes in the cupboard and was thinking about the same thing happened before sometime. Her thoughts were broken as her phone beeped. It was a text from Aryaman saying "Did you have your medicine Nandu??". She then remembered that she did not have her tablets. She then replied him saying " Sorry, forgot. Will have it now" and looked for water.

Nandini: (to herself) Uff... There is no water here in the jug...I should go to the kitchen and get some water.

She opened the door and saw that Manik was asleep in the balcony. She smiled seeing him sleeping like a baby. She then took a blanket and headed towards him. She went near him and covered him with the blanket. She then arranged the files which Manik had messed up and went to the kitchen for water. She ate her tablets and went to her room to sleep.

The next morning:

The bright sunrays woke up Manik as he was sitting in the balcony. He opened his eyes and stretched his hands. He noticed the blanket on him. He smiled as he knew who had put the blanket on him. He checked his phone and it was only 6.30. He then received a message from Sharma uncle about the venue and timings of the meeting. He was relieved to see that the meeting was only by 10. They had a lot of time. Then he went to the kitchen and made some coffee for him and Nandini as he was sure that Nandini would be still asleep. He took the coffee mugs in his hands and went to the bedroom and opened the door. As assumed, Nandini was still sleeping. He kept the coffee mug in the side table and sat on the bed near her and took a sip. Nandini was facing the other side and sleeping hugging the "Just Married" pillow. This made Manik blush. He did not want to wake her up. So he was just sitting and adoring the sleeping beauty.

Manik: (tapping her shoulders) Nandini get up, It's already 7.

Nandini: (in her sleep) 5 minutes please.

Manik didn't say anything and took another sip of his coffee. Nandini turned and now she was facing Manik. Her face was covered with her hair. Manik slowly caressed her hair and tucked it behind her ears.

Manik: (after 5 minutes) Nandini, 5 minutes over.

Nandini: (still closing her eyes) No, not yet. I have two minutes more.

Manik: Nandini get up, we have our meeting at 10.

Nandini: (rubbing her eyes) What meeting ?

Manik: (whispering to her) Do you remember that you are in Goa with me for a business meeting?

She opened her eyes and found Manik in front of her. For a moment she thought it was a dream.

Nandini: (widening her eyes) Sorry sir I thought...

Manik: (handing her the coffee mug) You needn't be sorry for anything. You have 2 hours to get ready. Meeting is at 10 only.

Nandini: (after taking a sip) Ok sir.

Manik: By the way how is the coffee??

Nandini: (giving Manik a thumbs up) Perfect!

Manik smiled at her and went to fresh up. Meanwhile Nandini drank the coffee and started going through the presentation and some files again, as there shouldn't be any mistake. She made her hair into a bun and secured it with her pen. She examined a file for a few minutes and wanted to make notes on that. Then she started to search her pen but found it nowhere. Meanwhile Manik came out of the bathroom after taking bath. He only had tied a towel around his waist. He saw Nandini turning the other side and searching for something.

Nandini: (to herself) Aiyoo! Where did I keep my pen?? It was here now.

Manik smiled to himself. He went near her and tapped on her shoulders. Nandini turned back and was shocked to see Manik only with his towel. She didn't know how to react and started to look here and there avoiding his gaze. Manik on the other hand came close to her and she was just sitting still. She tried hard not to look at him. He was only few centimeters away from her. He bent down and came more closer to her making her more nervous, and she closed her eyes tightly. Manik smirked seeing his effect on her and extended his hand and removed the pen from her hair. Nandini opened her eyes slowly and saw the pen in his hand. Manik gave the pen to Nandini.

Manik: So Nandini you need this only right?

Nandini: (stammering) Ye... yes sir.

Then Manik took his clothes and went out of the room.

Nandini: (to herself) How can I mistake him like that? I thought he was about to kiss me. Chi Chi Nandini, what are you thinking?

Breaking her own thoughts, she went to take get ready.

Aww loving this manan more, stretch this goa track for few more updates, i really liked it. Waiting eagerly for next part, has this sharma uncle a main part in this story, i mean by bringing manan together or has a link with any of their past, waiting to know that.
