Chapter - AADAT HAI VOH
As he entered the room he saw nandini sleeping with slight frown on her face.
He moved closer and placed his hand in her forehead and hot worried as she was still burning with high fever.
"What should I do now" manik said worriedly running his hands in his hairs roughly.
"Yes!! That can help" exclaimed manik as he walked out of the room
he quickly fetched a cold bowl of water and some cloth strips before climbing on the bed cautiously from the other bed. Hesitantly, he swiped her hair back from her forehead with a gentle touch and place the first strip gingerly, holding his breath.

Nandini scrunched his eyes slightly with a disturbed look on his face but didn't wake up and manik let go of her breath with a small whooshing sound. When he felt that the strip had been there long enough, he switched it with another.
He continued doing that for about half an hour, checking her temperature every five minutes and getting more anxious as the time ticked by and his temperature remained the same. A sudden feeling of extreme helplessness and worry enveloped him with such a strong ferocity that made his eyes welled.
Few some water drops quickly escaped from the strip and rested on her hand. Those cold drops made her shivered and she woke up.

"What the hell in the world you think you are doing in my room, on my bed at this hour of night" said shocked nandini.

(Ughh!!! Can't she have a normal talk with me... When ever we take we start with being sarcastic or almost yelling which brings us back to square one... Srsly this girl can speak this loud in thus state too... So be it like this... Be calm manik!!!! ) manik thought signing heaven wards.
"Earth to manik!! Explain please... I don't have energy to ask a simple question again and again unless u are suffering from some hearing aid" whispered nandini closing her eyes due to severe headache.
Actually when I dropped you back here. You were sleeping like a log in my car even after my several attempts you don't get up. So I Had to pick you up and bring you to your room.I was about to move out when you decided to cling completely with me And the I realised you are having fever so I was just trying to help you out" said manik cutting off all the torturous part which he has gone through with determination to get back on this with her some other day.
"So that explains my head tearing headache. But what in the world you just dropped on my head. It was damn irritating" said nandini pressing her head.
"Just few scary cold cotten strips" said manik smirking
"You could have given me some medicine or something and went back to your place. I don't want you to suffer because of me"
"I should have just opened your mouth and shove the tablets in you so that you can chock till death" said manik rolling his eyes completely ignoring the last lines.
"Wasn't prospect damn tempting for you to grab" said nandini pressing her head to avoid manik to place cold wet strips.
"Very" said manik attempting to remove nandini

"Please no!!! Just give me the damn medicines otherwise my head is going to blast any moment"
"Fine!" Said manik giving her tablet and water.
"Have this cough medicine too"
"Manik! I don't want it ... It makes me feel puckish" said nandini making a disgusting face.
"Stop bing a stubborn kid... Have it otherwise I have other ways too to make you have it..."said manik with smuek making nandini's eyes go wide and she hurriedly had it.
"Manik! I want to sleep"said nandini with a pout.
Manik smiled while helping her in lying down back. And kept another cold water strip.

The cold touch on her burning skin felt so good & soothing to her.She closed her eyes & sighed a lil bit manik had already covered her in an extra duvet & switched off the AC.She felt the heat decreasing slowly & a warm sensation enveloped her to drift her to the sleep. Manik did his task till he was sure that she had slept.Then he wiped her exposed body with water soaked cloth in order to decrease her temperature.She was adamant at times.He knew.But now he came to know that she was difficult to handle when unwell but not more than her drunk state.He gazed at her face which looked relaxed than earlier & angelic.He placed an kiss on her forehead & patted her cheek lovingly.An smile of content adorned his lips.

She wriggled in sleep & dashed softly towards him.He raised his hands with a tint of surprise & smiled looking down at her.She murmured his name & burried her face into his chest & clutched his shirt tightly.He felt an surge of pride,possessiveness & protectiveness towards her.He loved her more than anything in his life.She was still warm but less than sometimes back.He had kept a dry & clean towel ready to wipe the sweat off her.He was wide awake still holding her close to his heart.After an hour her temperature faded & sweat appeared on her forehead & face.He carefully wiped all the sweat off her without disturbing her.
Her temperature was getting lower.He tried to move back but she had his arms around him much tightly.He was afraid to disturb her.So he hugged her back even tighter securely.He didn't know when sleep engulfed him in its charm as well.

The first rays of the morning light entered the hut and blessed the couple who were snuggled up in each other's arms. Nandini half-opened her eyes as the sun rays directly hit her.She tried to move but was unable to do so.Her eyes wide-opened in realization as she noticed a pair of muscular arms holding her tightly.She looked at manik whose head was buried under neck.Her heart skipped a beat as she felt his hot breaths on her neck.She attempted to remove his arms after getting off her own arms from his back but he pulled her more closer to him.She got stunned when something wet on her collar bone.Her sari had slid off a little from her shoulder during the sleep exposing her soft creamy skin near the Shoulder.She realized that manik had placed a soft kiss on her collar bone in his sleep.
A blush formed upon her face but she soon came back to reality.She remembered the last night events and turned more crimson thinking how manik took care of her.The way he tried to revive her back from her worse health by maintaining her and his own dignity made her respect him even more.She didn't know when her hand lifted up and caressed his cheeks.
Her eyes welled up with unshed tears and hear with so many unsaid and unexplained emotions seeing manik by her side.
She covered manik completely with the covers and placed a kiss on his forehead while caressing his hairs lovingly.
She went to have shower and came back finding manik him still sleeping.
She went to make breakfast. She placed a Croustade and Cranberry Almond Caramel Pancake with a cup of tea. She placed the tray at the side table of her bed and kept a note written by her.
Manik wake up and saw nandini missing by her side he jerked up from the bed and went to bathroom and got tense. He called her out and search for her all over the house. While entering the room back he noticed a breakfast tray with a note beside it.
Manik took the note and read it out.
Hi!! Sorry i had to leave because I have a very important meeting at 10.
I didn't had heart to wake you up so I have left breakfast for you. Mukti will be helping you with what all you require.

A smile crept his lips reading and re- reading hmthe note when he was interrupted by a harsh throat clearing sound deliberately made by mukti.
"Manik! May I ask what brought smile at your face early in the morning"
As slight Blush crept on manik's face.
Mukti saw tray in manik's hand "oh!! Now that explains me the reason ...
"Ohky here you go... Freshen up and wear them " said mukti handing him clothes.
"Wow! Where did you get them from... Whose are these"
Surprised manik said while checking them out.
"These are of abhimanyu" said mukti looking content with smile.which made manik froze at that very instant and looked straight in mukti's eyes with lot of questions welding in it.
Mukti took a deep breath and exhaled it sharply before speaking .
" I know what you want to ask... Yes, abhimanyu passed away a month after you left for London. Nandini's chacha and chachi went to Sydney for rishabh's treatment even before abhimanyu's death. They insisted to take nandini with her but nandini stayed their for half year and came back to India. I promised abhimanyu that I will guard and protect his baby sister from all the odds of the world. I love nandini a lot because she is the last thing I have to call it mine and abhimanyu's. And now it has been 7 long years that I and nandini are staying together supporting each other at every step "said mukti trying heard not to chock while speaking and keeping a constant smile on her face.
Manik felt a lump in his throat knowing that mukti suffered all this alone while I was oblivious of this all these years. He moved forward and took mukti in a warm hug trying to take all the pain out of her and that was the time when mukti couldn't stay strong anymore and finally broke down in his arms.
"I am so sorry mukti... I wasn't beside you when you needed me the most... I was not there to hug you and ensure you that everything is gonna be alright... I couldn't be a best friend to you..." Said manik letting tears flow down his eyes freely and response to it mukti hugged him even more tighter letting out audible sobs now .she was crying her heart out as if letting manik feel all the pain and what all she went through when he was not there for her.
"When I had to support you being your family I couldn't fulfil that mukti ... I failed yet again mukti ..." Said manik hugging her securely.
No manik, its wasn't you but the circumstances... As you too had to rush to London to takeover your falling empire due to sudden Demise of your dad. Your life took a complete U turn which was next to impossible to handle the situation. You survived it all alone when you needed a your family that's us. But here I had everyone around me which made easy for me and nandini to recover. U never failed manik... You have always been and will always be bestest friend I can ever have with whom I can cry with open heart while being strong for outside world" said mukti breaking the hug, wiping manik's tears off and giving him brightest smile.
Manik ruffed his hairs with affection and smiled. As words didn't came out of him seeing mukti's maturity towards the situations. his chest swelled up in proud to have friend like her seeing mukti smiling even when she wanted to cry more.
"Mukti, you still smiled through all the situations what ever life threw at you"
Manik asked caressing her back head
"Abhimanyu's wish was that whenever I remember him I should with a smile. And when ever I want to cry, just remember best moments in your life that makes you happy, makes you feel special. But her before you I couldn't keep that smile intact" said mukti resting her head against his chest.
You know what manik, nandini has been a great support for me. Nandini's presence around me reminds me of abhimanyu being close to me. I always keep her close to my heart as she is the only thing abhimanyu left with me as ours. When I should have supported nandini, she became the shoulder to all my miseries" mukti speaking her heart out to which manik listened with heavy heart. But another question wandered his mind that why nandini lied to him about not staying with mukti he growled in frustration
When he heard mukti speakiing.
"Manik it isn't nandini's mistake, it was aliya who asked nandini not to tell you about nandini staying at my place" said mukti which shock written on manik's face.
Phew that was it... Sleep has taken all over me... I only know how I am updating it...
I was literally crying while writing the update...
