I am a Malayali, so its mundu in Malayalam and veshti in Tamil(I grew u in Chennai), my dad wears a lungi at home at night and mundu is the one people wear outside but even my dad wears it only for weddings, temples and festivities, so for me realistically a teenage boy wearing a mundu is making it a stereotype about South Indians considering no one really wears it nowadays.
