chapter-4
it was 6 pm in the evening. manik entered his cabin and found nandini sleeping on the desk. her heads rested on her hands and she was benting over the desk. infront of her were piles of papers, it was clear she had fallen asleep while working. manik came near her. he was about to bang with the files in his hand but stopped remembering cabir's words "agar tu uske sath acchese behave nahi karsakta to kamsekam usse hurt mat kar" . he stopped and silently kept the files on the desk. his eyes went on her arm, on her wounds. he remembered how harshly he pushed her on the floor last night. she didnt apply any medicine he thought. he forwaded his hand to wake her up but something was stopping him to disturb her, he wasnt feeling to wake her up from her peaceful dream. so instead of waking her up by movement he cleared his throat. nandini immediately woke up like a jerk and saw manik standing infront of her and all the messy papers infront of her. she was scared thinking manik will scold her hard for not finishing the work on time. she stood up and put her dupatta properly around her neck.
n=um...um sorry sir.. woh sare papers ready ha... just..
m=5 minutes ke andar niche ajaw, main parking lot me tumhara wait karraha hu.
manik took his mobile from his desk and left the cabin leaving behind a speechless nandini.nandini was just looking at the door. her thoughts were broken when she remembered manik had given her only 5 minutes. she quickly arranged the messy desk in a proper manner, took her bag and mobile and ran downstairs. as soon as she came to the parking lot she saw manik was sitting inside the car. it seemed that he was waiting for her to sit and they will leave. nandini opened the door and sat inside the car. as soon as she closed the door manik started the car and began to drive.the drive to home was silent. manik was looking straight towards the road while nandini was looking outside the window or playing with the corner of her dupatta. there was complete silence in the car. none of them were looking at eachother or even saying anything.
manik parked the car in malhotra mansion. both of them got down and entered together. when they entered the house they saw the servants were decorating the hall for pooja, pandit was sitting and saying mantras. manik and nandini exchanged looks and came to the hall.
m=ramesh , dadi kaha ha???
ramesh=sir woh room me ha, apka hi wait karrahithi. apko andar janeko kaha ha jaise hi ap ghar aye
m=theek ha, main jata hu
manik went to dadi's room while nandini went upstairs
m=dadi...
manik knocked and entered the room.
d=manik..aja beta.
manik came and sat infront of her. it was his daily routine. after returning home the first thing he did was spending some quality time with his dadi. sometimes dadi would apply oil in his hair.
da=kaisa tha ajka din
m=nothing new dadi, kaam, meetings and all that
da=pagal kahika, shadi ke dusrehi din koi itna kaam karta ha kya. tujhe to aj

da=accha ek bat bata... tu mujhse gussa ha ??
m=dadi, ap kaise baat karraheho?? apse gussa ??? yeh kabhi hosakta ha
da=kyu nahi.. tujhe toa mujhse gussa hona chahiye,
m=ap esa kyu soch raheho ke ma apse naraz honga??? apse kisine kuch kaha
da=ha kaha na, yeh jo tere chehrepas udasi ha yeh kehrahiha ke yeh mujhse naraz ha
m=nahi dadi, ma apse gussa nahi hu .
da=dekh manik, main janta hu ke tu mere faisle se khush nahi ha par ek baat tu yakeen karta ha na? ke teri dadi jo tere lie sochti ha woh accha sochti ha..
manik was quiet.
da=ma tujhe khush dekhna chahti hu beta, aur iske lie shayed ma swarthi hogayi thi..par teri khushi keliye main kuch bhi karungi
m=dadi, ma janta hu apko aliya acchi nahi lagti ha. par ap usse ek mauka deti.. woh zarur apka dil jeet leti
da=manik ma janti hu ke tu usse chahta ha, par ma yeh janti hu ke tera dil usse sirf pasand karta ha par pyar nahi... aur yeh pyar kisi aurka ka haa. tu mere lie ek bar is rishte ko mauka de, ek mauka. phirbhi agar tera dil nahi mana phir ma kuch nahi kahungi
m=dadi... apkelie sirf apki khushi keliye ma usse abhi apni life se nahi nikalunga. lekin dadi.. sirf 6 months, uske baad usse jana parega
da=par manik...
m=please dadi, ma aliya se pyar karta hu. aur meri khushi keliye kya aap usse nahi apna sakti??
da=theek ha beta, jisme teri khushi ha par tu dekhna , 6 mahine bad tu mere pass ayega aur kahega ap sahi thi dadi, humesha ki tarah
manik didnt say anything and stood up
da=ab jakar tayyar hoja pooja keliye
m=ji dadi.
manik came to his room and saw nandini was ready. she was wearing a yellow salwar kameez with her hair tied in a ponytail. he passed by her and went to the washroom. nandini took out clothes for manik and kept them on the bed and left the room. manik came outside the washroom and saw that his clothes were kept on the bed
nandini was arranging the dining table when manik came downstairs. she became sad when she saw manik didnt wear the clothes which she had taken out for him. manik throwed a look on her and sat on the mandap of pooja. after sometime nandini also joined him and both performed the arti together .
da=nandini beta kitchen me prasad ha lekar ayegi ??
n=jii..
nandini came to the kitchen to take the big thali of prasad. as soon as she picked the thalii her arm began to pain. she was about to drop the full thali when two big strong hands supported her to hold the thali. she looked up and saw manik staring at her. he took the thali and kept it on the table
n=sir woh..
m=listen tumhari problem kya ha?? kya sabit karna chahti ho?? meri dadi ne yeh pooja bohot maan se rakha ha..aur prasad girakar kya unka dil torna chahti thi???
n=nahi sir..um sorry woh galtise.
m=just shut up... ramesh!! ramesh
ramesh=yes sir
m=yeh lekar jaw bahar
ramesh=yes sir.
m=ab chupchap bahar ao.
manik was going out of the kitchen when he turned around
m=aur ha, apne hath me dawai laga lo..warna dard bar jayega
saying he left the kitchen. nandini smiled seeing her wound
n=ma janti hu sir, ap dilke bohot acche ha. ap agar chot dete ha toa apko uska dard bhi hota ha. ap kitne acche insaan ha yeh isise pata chalta ha. koi rishta nahi ha phirbhi apko parwa ha meri. thank u sir, sirf isi wajase apka har gussa ma sehnekeliye tayyar hu. apko accha lage na lage ma har woh responsibility nibhaungi jo mujhe nibhana chahiye.

chapter-5
once the dinner was over, manik was in his study room playing his guitar his favourite pastime. his phone rang. it was cabir
m=ha cabir bol
c=woh.. much relaxed voice than morning. lagta ha dadi ka pamper mila ha
m=shut up..kya kam ha ??
c=are.. ab sirf kam se hi tujhe call karsakta hu??? accha chor tu abhi stress ha abhi keliye nahi pareshan karta. sun college ka reunion ha. princi ka call aya ha. tera phone lag nahi raha tha..so.. mujhe bola gaya ha tujhe kehneko
m=kab ha?? dekhta hu..if possible
c=tere yeh sab bahane nahi chalenge...is sunday ko.aur ha manik, princi ka order ha tujhe ana hi ha along with nandini
m=what???nandini par kyu???
c=dude, ur on front page everyday. the manik malhotra. aur tu space ka hissa tha. to obviously tere shadi ke bad tujhe with wife hi invitation denge... and u have to come
m=cabir..please waha par aliya..
c=we'll handle her, look jo mane samjhaya tha usse mind me rakhna and i think dadi ne bhi tujhe mere jaisa hi kuch kaha hoga
m=hmm..sort of
c=so ...ur coming with her on sunday. okay?

c=bye
manik put down the phone and was thinking what is all these happening around him, why so much of complications. he looked at the time, it was 11.30. he decided to head towards his room.
manik came inside his room and saw nandini was arranging the bed for him. seeing him she stood a bit far from his bed.manik went up to the bed and took a pillow and was moving towards nandini. seeing him walking towards her nandini was scared. she thought again he would push her and hurt her. when manik was right infront of her she closed her eyes but manik passed by her and lied down on the couch. after a moment she opened her eyes and saw manik lying on the couch.
n-sir...ap yaha ?? ap bed pe sojayiye
m=nahi.tum sojaw bed par... ma yahi theek hu
n=sir ma bolrahihu ap bed pe sojayi... apko adat nahi ha
m=will u just shut up??? sir ma hu..so jo main bolunga wahi hoga. abhi chupchap sojaw aur lights off karo. mujhe neend arahiha.

Nandini smiled and went to the bed. She lied down taking one last glance of manik and then she switched the lights off. Manik was facing trouble while sleeping on the couch. Nandini was right he wasn't used to of it. He was tossing in the couch . finally being fed up he got up and switched the lamp beside of the couch on. He saw nandini was sleeping peacefully. Her small body was curled up in a corner of the bed. She was feeling cold as she had covered herself tightly with the blanket. Manik saw that the ac was too high and was directly hitting her. He took the remote and increased the temperature. Taking a deep breath he again lied down on the couch and this time he fell asleep.

Once manik was in deep sleep, nandini got up. She was feeling thirsty. She drank some water and found herself warm instead of being ice cold. She looked at the ac and understood that manik had increased the temperature.

N=sir ko adat nahi ha, unhe garmi lagrahi hogi.

She took the remote and decreased the temperature and rested herself on the bed again

Next morning.

Manik opened his eyes and found the sun shining brightly on his face. The room was ice cold the way he liked. He got up rubbing his eyes and his gaze fell on the ac.

M=what the.. mane toa temperature high kia tha..to phir isse low kisne kia???

He got up and looked at the bed, it was tied up and nandini came in the room with a cup of coffee

N=good morning sir.

She wished him and kept the coffee on the table. Nandini was about to leave when manik stopped her

M=mane ac ka temperature high kiya tha, tumne low kia??

Nandini looked at him and nodded in the positive. Manik rolled his eyes

M=kyu??

N=sir apko garmi lagti ha, apko adat nahi ha ac kam karke sone ki. Isiliye mane socha

M=tumse kisine kaha sochne ko?? Nahi na?? so please agese mujhse puche begar kuch mat karna

Nandini didn't say anything just looked down.

M=ma shower lene jarahahu, breakfast neeche rakhdo

He was about to move when nandini gave him a medicine

M=what??

N=sir apko back pain hojayega, medicine lelijiye, kal raat ko ap couch me soye, severe pain hojayega.

She kept the medicine beside the coffee and left the room leaving manik speechless

M=why does she do all this?? Iske sath jitna rough behave karu yeh utna hi normal rehti ha... why doesn't she react anything??

N(standing outside the room)= sir ap jaan buchkar bure banna chahte ha par ma janti hu ke ap kitne acche ha, isiliye apki kisi bhi bat ka mujhe bura nahi lagta ha aur nahi lagega.

At breakfast table

Nandini was helping dadi to take her medicines, manik was coming downstairs when he saw both dadi and nandu smiling laughing. Unknowingly manik also smiled seeing his dadi so much happy. His smile went off when he heard the door bell. Nandini went to check. It was aliya. Aliya gave nandini a disgusted look and passed by her as if nandu didn't exist. Nandini also didn't say anything. Seeing aliya manik came downstairs

A=manikk...

Aliya ran upto him and hugged him without caring of dadi. Manik was about to hug her back when he saw infront of his eyes nandini standing. Nandini quickly moved from there and went to the kitchen. Manik broke the hug

A=what happenede babe??

M=aliya tum yaha ?? matlab itni subhah ??

A=ma aj hi farmhouse se wapas ayi hu and I couldn't resist myself from seeing u, I missed u so much manik

She kissed him on his cheeks. Dadi was observing all this and also the awkwardness in maniks face. She smiled and went inside the kitchen. Behind aliya druv cabir mukti entered. Manik gave aliya a small smile.

Mu=manik, kaisa ha tu??

M=um okkk.

Cabir was searching for nandini, he knew seeing aliya nandini must have hidden her somewhere

C=guys ill be back

He went in search of nandin.

In the kitchen

N=dadi, ma theek hu aur mujhe bura nahi laga. Ma janti hu ke manik sir aliya se pyaar karte ha aur phir

Da=dekh nandini, ma bass itna janti hu ke aj mere manik ke chehrepar mane wo khushi nahi dekhi jo humesha hoti ha jab aliya usse hug karti ha. Jab aliya ne usse hug kiya toa uski akhen tujhpar thi, usse kadar ha teri is rishte ki isi wajase usne khud ko rokh liya

Cabir entered the kitchen, took blessings from dadi

C=dadi, ur right.i agree with u. manik bahar ekdam chupchap betha ha. Wo aliya ke sath thora uncomfort feel karraha ha kyuki... kyuki.. janti ho kyu nandini ??

N=nahi sir...

C=cause unknowingly he has understood that he is married and he shouldn't do all this infront of u. dekho I know, ke manik thora rude ha, aggressive ha but dil ka accha ha.

N=sir ma janti hu.. aur ap dono meri chinta mat kijiye ma theek hu

C=are u sure???

N=yaa

Da=cabir tujhe pata ha, nandu aur manik dono ek jaise ha... humesha kehte ha ke ma thek hu

N=dadi ma...

M=cabir

Manik came in search of cabir and saw three of them in the kitchen. He was confused seeing them together

C=kya hua?? Chilla kyu raha arahahu... dadi ka pamper leraha tha

M=shut up... chal

C=coming. Okk dadi. See u

While leaving cabir winked at nandini and gestured her with his hand to smile. Nandini smiled back.

Cabir and manik sat inside the car. Cabir was putting the seat belt on

M=kya chal raha tha kitchen me??

C=kya?? Kuch nahi.. main to bass nandini bhabi ko hi kehne gaya tha

Manik gave cabir a killing look which made cabir giggle

C=accha chal abhi late horaha ha.. mujhe jate waqt radio station chor dena.aj special show ha mera

M=theek ha.

C=waiittt.

M=kya hua???

Cabir pointed through the side mirror of the car . manik saw nadini was standing and looking for auto. Cabir looked at manik who was seeing here there , cabir got his answer and got down from the car

C=nandinii

He called her. Nandini smiled and walked upto him

N=jee sir

C=tum waha kya khari ho?? Tumhara patidev aur uski gari yaha ha...

Nandini blushed and looked down

C=ab chalo, hum teeno, tum , tumhara pati aur tumhara devar ek sath aj chalte ha

M=cabirrr

Manik yelled at him from the car

C=chalo chalo.. betho..

He opened the front seat for her. Nandini sat inside and cabir managed himself in the back seat

C=ha toa manik, chal...

Manik started the car and headed for his office.

i liked it

to be very honest, i have started to dislike this nandini but your manik is ok, he isn't so terrible, he seems more real but nandu seems like those female charaters who accept everything without any complain

Cabir well he is ALWAYS the best, he has this pull that makes us love him and YOU showed him brilliantly

Anyway thanks for two chapters

i can understand what u r trying to say, but nandu is a bit diff in the story that is why her charctr is also diff :)
