Chapter 24
Scene1 --*--*---( competition venue, back gate 10 pm )---*-----*--
Manik and Nandini had reached the back gate of college.. Nandini was damn tired..
Manik " door is closed.. Sooo.."
Nandini with a tired face "jump krna pdega?" Manik playfully " Do u have second option?" Nandini making a sad face " nooo.."
Manik hiding his smirk "okay then.. Jump kro."
Nandini with a lame smile " Maniiikkk... Jump.. How would I jump .. I mean.."
Manik with a fake serious expression " Kyu.? Jab tum utar skti ho to chad b skti ho wall pe.."
Nandini being embarrassed looked away. She thought " aaiappa . How embarrassing.. How to ask him to.." Manik was smiling playfully. Nandini " Manik.. Woo.." stealing her looks. Manik sighed and nodded his head disbelieving her shyness.. Nandini turned towards the wall. Her back was facing him. She had taken a step just then she felt his hands on her shoulders. She was confused. And before she could understand he picked her up from her thighs.. Nandini immediately clenched his collar being afraid and looked at Manik. Manik smiled and said " What.. This is not the first time m picking u up. Its just that.."
Nandini was astonished at his behavior. She cut him in the middle "it's just that the way is DIFFERENT". She smiled. Manik's smile grew wider. They had an eyelock.
Scene 2---*----(aaliya's room 10 pm pm)---*------------
Aaliya was sitting on the sofa massaging mukti's head who was sitting on the floor when Harshad arrived there..
Aaliya to Mukti " now u fine?.. Headache gone?"
Mukti saw Harshad and said " headache gya nhi.. aaya" while giving stern looks to Harshad.. Aaliya followed her gaze that ended on Harshad.. Harshad was pissed off seeing Mukti.. Harshad " Aaliya.. I want to talk to u.." And he looked at Mukti saying " akele me". Mukti irked and stood up to go. But aaliya stopped her.
Aaliya firmly " wait mukti.. U r not going anywhere. This is my room and u r my best friend. Jise jo kehna h yahi kahe.."
Harshad couldn't believe his ears and he left being annoyed .. Mukti " this is the reason why I hate him so much.. Everytime he is at fault and side effects tu jhelti h.. Don't mind aaliya but I wonder tu iski sister hai. I really want u to stay away from his problems."
Aaliya " Mukti calm down.. Let's PARTY" . Mukti surprisingly " What?"
Scene3 --*----( competition venue 10.10 pm)---*----*----
Manik had jumped to the other side of wall and Nandini was sitting on the wall.
Manik playfully " I know ..u don't need my help but u seem TIRED so haath de rha hun " while making a cute face and forwarding his hands to held her.
She smiled at his cuteness and leaned towards him.. Manik held her from arms and got her down.. Both had little smiles on their faces and were lost for a moment. Their trance was broken by Raghav's voice.
Raghav "so.. Yaha bhi Manik Malhotra ko rules ki fikr nhi h.."
Manik and Nandini were shocked.. Nandini uttered " sir.. wo front gate pe rush tha so.."
Raghav " Nandini.. I thought sirf Manik disobedient h.. But u also.. U guys did'nt ask me before going out" . Manik gave himself a mental slap for his wrong timing. Nandini being shocked turned her head to look at Manik but Manik who was seeing her through the corner of his eyes had not dared to look at her. Manik thought " phoolan will kill u dude".
Raghav " this kind of behavior is pathetic ". Nandini being embarrassed uttered " Sir.. WE. WE r really SORRY.. Woh...". Manik to himself " WE? Seriously.. m not sorry."
Suddenly Raghav chuckled saying "panditji hote to yahi kehte.." Manik and Nandini were confused and surprised. Raghav " I also used to do such things during my college days.. " Nandini sighed with relief.
Raghav continued " waise I appreciate that u guys r TRYING TO BE FRIENDS keeping ur egos aside."
Manik smirked and turned his head to look at Nandini but she was annoyed at Manik so she didn't look at him.. Manik's smirk vanished and he thought "Manik Malhotra u r so dead today."
Raghav " well.. U should have asked me.. Bcz this is not our SPACE academy."
Nandini still being sorry " sir.. m really SORRY.. Aage se kbhi..."
Raghav smiled and said " today I won't scold u bcz ... Bcz u guys made me so proud today.. U WON.." leaving Manik and Nandini surprised.
Nandini disbelieving him " what.. We .. We won?" narrowing her eyes.
Raghav smiled nodding in yes and said " dinner has been served.. Jaldi aao" and he left with a big smile on his face.. Nandini was lost in her own world still not believing that they had won murmuring to herself. Manik smiled and waved his hand in front of her eyes " hello.. Ain't u happy?" She turned to him and shouted loud " ohhh manik .. M so happpiiieee".. Manik smiled. Nandini " WE WON" . Being excited she jumped high at her place but felt pain and winced. Nandini " ouuchhh" while kneeling down and touching her leg..
Manik laughed.. Nandini looked at him being confused.. Manik " have u heard that wolf and shepherd boy story.." He smirked and said " u can't fool me anymore.."
Nandini " U liar. U don't talk to me.." while clenching her teeth.. And then she straighten up and walked away.. Manik being surprised" aree.. Wait.ruko.."
Scene 4--*--(inside the bus 12.35 am)---*---*--
Bus was moving with an average speed.. Nandini was sitting at the window side with a frowny face.. Manik was sitting next to her thinking how to make her talk. Suddenly an idea came to his mind and he smirked.. He took out his phone and called Dhruv.
Manik "buddy.. What's up.. (pause ) Manik Malhotra never loses.. (laughed) of course PARTY hogi (pause) yaaa bus me (pause)" . He turned his face towards Nandini and said on phone " waise weather is awesome.. AC ki toh zarrorat hi nahi h.."
Nandini recalled her conversation with Navya and couldn't stop herself from smiling. She turned her face to see him.. Manik (phone) " hmm.. bye.." he hung up and making a fake serious face said to her " seriously.. AC ki ..."
Nandini making an annoyed face "u r such a liar manik.. U said tumne permission le lia h.. U know how embarrassed I was.."
Manik " Relax.. U r so boring.. Acha tell me..."
Suddenly Nandini's phone rang..
Driver turned off the lights except one of his chamber. Nandini received the call and screamed in a low voice " maddieee.. We won.. We won.." And she giggled.
Manik was irked.. Nandini " PARTY hogi naa.. (pause) Probably 7o' clock.. (pause)... Shut up... ( blushing).. Ha ha ha .very funny (giggled).. Hmmm.. Goodnight.."
She looked at Manik saying " Aryamann naa.. "
Manik who was tapping his foot couldn't control and asked "Why did u go with me for WALK?"
Nandini disbelieving him "What? U only had asked me.. U made so many efforts... And now u r saying.."
Manik annoyingly " okay.. Fine.. Tell me one more thing.. Jungle me Why did u tell me that u TRUST me ."
Nandini was speechless. She uttered being confused "all of a sudden. Ye sb.. "
Manik " I want an answer.. That day also u did'nt tell me.."
Nandini annoyingly "why did u tell me that I shouldn't trust u?" Now manik was dumbstruck.
Suddenly kamini who was sitting ahead of them said " aapki baatein ho gai ho to hum so jaein"
Nandini felt embarrassed and said " SORRY ma'am" in a low voice.
Manik sighed and said to himself "stop being IMPULSIVE man"..
Nandini " manik it's all because of u. Sir ko bhi muje tumhari wajah se SORRY..."
Manik leaned closer to her and said in a low voice " Nandini Murti said SORRY . Woh b jo galti usne ki hi nahi.." leaving her mouth open.. She hit on his chest.. Manik winced and Nandini immediately put her finger on his lips.. Nandini "shhh".. Manik was awestruck.. And so was Nandini. They had an eyelock for a few seconds.. Later Nandini removed her finger and being shy looked away. Manik in a low voice " okay. No more fights.. Let's talk about something else."
Nandini looked at him raising her right eyebrow. Manik in a low voice " Tell me about yourself". Nandini smiled. And then for a long time Manik and Nandini were talking about their friends , their likes, dislikes, interests etc etc.. Nandini told him about her chacha and chachi.
Nandini "chachi chacha Ki love marriage h.. She is a Punjabi."
Manik "they love u a lot.. right." Nandini "yaa. But amms loves me the most.. " Manik was a bit uncomfortable hearing AMMS from her mouth.. Nandini "amms . meri grandmother" Manik faked a smile on his face.. Then there was a silence for some time..
Manik hesitantly "acha Nandini.. ahh.. Wo." She looked at him. Manik continued "What about... What about ur fear of thunder." There was a little doubt in his voice. He doubted if she would tell him the reason. Nandini was a bit uncomfortable. She looked down and didn't speak a word for few seconds.
Manik "It's okay.. If u don't want to share then..."
Nandini cut him in middle saying "It was raining heavily.. that night.." leaving Manik surprised.
She continued recalling the scene "there was loud sound of thunder.. Me, mom and appa.. We.. we were coming back from a cul.. cultural event." She fumbled while saying that.. Manik became serious and placed his hand over her.. Her throat was paining but she continued " My mom was a singer and.. Us event me.. unka performance bahut.. Bahut appreciate hua tha.. we were so happy.. I was smiling and laughing all the way, suddenly..suddenly.. ek truck ne hamari car ko." . Tears welled in her eyes.. Her hands were trembling..
Nandini "I was only nine Manik.. when I.. I lost my.. my..." While telling this she had choked and a tear fell down from her eye on manik's hand.. He felt as if someone had stabbed his heart. Manik tightly clenched her hand..
Nandini with teary eyes and frowny face "I.. I miss My parents.. I wish wo raat kbhi.." And she choked. Manik shushed her and immediately pulled into a side hug.. Nandini closed her eyes tightly just to let her tears fall and rested her head on his shoulder.. Manik had caressed her head for a long time thinking about Nandini, her PAIN and her TRUST on him..He felt as if all of a sudden his heart had become too heavy.. The frown on nandini's forehead was gone.. Her heart had become light..
After a long time Manik uttered "Nandini.. I.. I want to confess something .. Plz don't judge me wrong.." He took a pause and said " When we were sort of enemies, that time somehow I came to know that.. that ur amms is against of your music. And I.. I called her.. to .. to see ur performance ". Manik stopped being afraid. His heart was racing so fast. But to his surprise she didn't speak..
Manik moved his head to see her face and found that she was asleep.. She was sleeping so peacefully in his arm with her both hands tightly clenching his one hand.. This scene was a bliss for Manik.. He tightened his grip on her and rested his head on the seat head , gulped his saliva and sighed..
Scene 5----*----(space academy, near the lawns 7.30 am)---*----*----*----
Cabir bumped into Navya who was in a hurry to get into the bus that had just arrived from the competition.. Cabir giving a fake smile " wow.. Subeh subeh MADHUBALA k darshan ho gye. Aaj to poora din full DRAMA hoga.." Navya eyeing him angrily" humare pas tumhari faltu baato k lie time nhi h.. Hato yaha se." clenching her teeth..
Cabir coming in her way " Why... Tumhari friend kya bahar nhi aaegi..? See.. Everyone is coming out.. Why r u in so much hurry.."
Navya " tumse matlab. huh.. " and she turned her face away.. Cabir also turned his face away.
They waited for Manik Nandini to come out but to their surprise they didn't get down.. Navya and cabir together rushed towards the bus and bumped again.. Navya " hum pehle jaeeinn..."
Cabir mocking her in a girl's voice " hum pehle jaenge.." And with that he pushed her aside.. Navya was shocked.. Cabir immediately rushed inside the bus and was shocked seeing the scenario.. Navya came inside and her eyes got widened seeing Nandini sleeping on Manik's shoulder, wrapped in his arm and clenching his hand tightly..
Meanwhile Cabir had taken out his phone and he captured the scene.. Navya was shocked at this but before she could say something Cabir put his hand on her mouth and shushed her.. Cabir in a low voice " kabbab me haddi mt bno .."
Navya removed his hand and said in a loud voice " kya bak rhe ho..". This made Manik and Nandini wake up from their beauty sleep.. They saw Cabir and Navya and were shocked.. Nandini immediately stood up caressing her hair.. Manik also stood up gulping his saliva and was avoiding Cabir's gaze.
Cabir cleared his throat and changing his expression from shocked to happy shouted " hey dude.. Congrats bro.. U won.." And he leaned forward to hug manik.. They hugged and Manik sighed with relief..
Navya gritted her teeth saying " Nandu.. Bahar nikalo.. hume baat krni h..".. Nandini couldn't say a word and innocently nodded.
Manik looked at Nandini making place for her to move.. Nandini was also looking in his eyes recalling last night incidence. Cabir who was watching the scenario with his eyes wide open sat on a seat.. Nandini moved slowly looking at Manik as if she didn't want to leave him.. Her back rubbed with his chest as she was passing by him.. Manik so wanted to pull her towards him and hug her from behind but he was helpless.. Suddenly Navya held Nandini's hand and dragged her saying " aise to kal tak yahi rahogi.." leaving everyone's mouth open.. Cabir laughed like hell.. Manik kept looking at Nandini who was looking at him till the time she had escaped from his eyes.. Cabir was still laughing.. Cabir " ohh.. Ohh.. God.. Shit.." trying to control his laughter..
Manik stealing his looks " what.. what r u doing here.."
Cabir composed himself and said " kyu.. U didn't want to wake up from your sweet dream.." And he laughed again.. Manik was caught.. He moved to get down from the bus but cabir held his hand and asked " since I caught u red handed.. Now tell me.. what's going on between you and NANDINIII... "
Manik " What.. What r u saying.. I didn't get u.."
Cabit " beta.. Ye DIALOGUE PURANA ho gya h.. naya bol"
Manik had understood that he was caught.. He gave up, sat down next to Cabir saying "u had a little hint.. right..?"
Cabir " yaa.. Just a little.." He took a pause and playfully asked "about what.."
Manik " that I LL..." And he immediately stopped there only.
Cabir freaked " damn.. So REALISATION of LOVE ho gya..? I missed it...!!shit man.." leaving manik's mouth open.. Manik uttered " LOVE...!! How can u be so sure k I.. I..."
Cabir in his ranting mode "The Manik Malhotra is going for a WALK .. That manik who doesn't even ride bikes.. uses only his personal cars .." Manik was dumbstruck.. Cabir continued " The confident.. sorry.. over confident manik fumbles.. Stammers taking about NANDINIII.. He was tapping his foot seeing NANDINIII talking to Dhruv in the jungle.." Manik couldn't believe that..
Cabir " Manik is HURT like anything knowing Aryamann is NANDINIII's boyfriend.. But see I told u boyfriends come and go.. " Manik stood up disbelieving him.. And narrowing his eyes said " So U. U knew it from the beginning.."
Cabir nodded with a broad playful smile on his face.. Manik " Can't u tell me early.. Itna time waste ho gya."
Cabir laughed seeing him like that and said" manik you have become MANIC.. Time waste..really.. Take a deep breath.. And tell me kya kya hua h teri love story me.. I know jungle me u saved her and then u went to see her in her tent. Sorry.. maine bheja tha tujhe.. Uske baad se bta.."
Manik sat down again saying " I can't believe u man.. Go and get some LOVE GURU job.." Cabir " thank u . now proceed with ur story.. LOVE STORY"
Scene 6--*--- (inside the college 7.50 am)---*---*----*----
Navya was eyeing Nandini with a questioning look on her face.. Nandini was biting her lips.. Navya " ab bologi kuch" Nandini " Navya.. Wo.. Tum yaha kaise.. Maddie nhi aaya.."
Navya" Nandini baat mt ghumao.." Nandini was smart enough to understand that she was caught.. Nandini tried to explain Navya.
Nandini " Navya... HE is a nice guy.. HE just shows that he is monster but he is not that KADVA.. Infact he is so CARING, so GOOD, so much alive ... Navya.. Jaisa koi khud ko present krta h auro k samne .. zarrori nhi h wo waisa hi ho.."
Navya uttered " sahi keh rhi ho tum. Jo jaisa dikhta h zarrori nhhh" and she stopped.. Nandini " Navya.. what happened.." Navya came out of her trance and said " Nandini.. Tum abhi aai ho.. ghar chalo.. Aryamann tume sb btaega..."
Nandini became worried" Navya. What happened.. Maddie abhi kyu nhi aaya. Kya huu ..."
Navya " Nandini.. humne mana kia tha use.."
Nandini "but why.. Tell me kya hua.. I can't wait.. Tell me right now.. Ur silence is killing me" Navya gave up seeing Nandini's worry and told her everything..
Nandini being shocked " Harshad itna cheap ho skta h.. I can't believe this." She took a pause and asked " tum theek ho..?" holding navya's hand.
Navya " sach btaein.. Soha se milne se pehle nahi the.. Par ab bahut light feel kr rhe hain.."
Nandini gave a fake smile and recalled the scene when Manik had told her about Harshad.. Nandini clenched her fist and was fuming.. Navya " ghar chalo.." Nandini " No.. I won't go home.." gritting her teeth..
Scene 6---*( inside the bus 8.00 am)---*---*-----*----
Manik was telling Cabir about Nandini.. Manik lost in his own world " SHE is DIFFERENT cabir.. SHE is INNOCENT yet NAUGHTY, she is so FRAGILE yet BOLD,.. sometimes she is cute and..." he chuckled "and sometimes she becomes PHOOLAN. She is so alive" recalling her laughter..
Cabir pretended to be sleepy and yawned.. Manik gave him a fake annoyed look..
Cabir " jo poocha wo btaya tune..? Nahi na.. Nandini.. Nandini.. Nandini.. CONFESSION hua.?.."
Manik " what confession.. I don't even know if she likes me or ..." And he stopped.
Cabir teased manik saying " She likes u.. Of course.. Dekha nhi kaise chipak k soi hui thi tujhse.."
Manik eyed him showing fake anger. Cabir shrugged his shoulders saying " what.. Look mat de.. don't u know.?. Han kaise pta hoga.. U were asleep na.. Okay I will show u.." And with that he took out his phone from his pocket and showed him the picture he had captured a few minutes back..
Manik's jaw dropped seeing his picture with Nandini.. Cabir " what a blissful moment na.." Manik gave him a u-r-so-dead look but before he could do some action cabir stood up and rushed outside.. Manik ran after him saying " Cabir.. Cabir.. Stop.. U idiot." Clenching his teeth..
Scene 7--*---(music wing 8.15 am)---*----*---
Nandini was rushing towards music room.. Navya who was following her said " Nandu.. Waha mat jao.. waha harsh..." And she stopped seeing Harshad right in front of her eyes..
Harshad made an innocent face seeing them. Nandini was giving him stern looks.. Navya looked away.. Harshad to Nandini " Nandini.. u r back.. How was the..."
Nandini almost shouted " Enough of ur acting Harshad.." Harshad looked at navya angrily.. Nandini " I have never thought tum aise hoge.."
Fab5 who were happily chit chatting about manik's success had arrived there. But listening Nandini's loud voice everyone's smile had vanished.. Manik was confused.. He had no idea why Nandini was shouting at Harshad .
Nandini continued " college competition wale din I was wondering that how did Dhruv got hurt.. Now I got answer for my question.." while giving stern looks to Harshad.. Harshad " listen Nandini.. I accept that .. I only had planned that.."
Manik fumed gritting his teeth.. Aaliya felt disgusted.. Harshad continued " But Soha.. I didn't..."
Nandini shouted loud "don't u dare take her name again.." Students had started gathering around.. Harshad saw that and said in a low voice " Nandini.. Don't create a scene.." while clenching his teeth..
Nandini in a loud voice " why Harshad.. Let others also have some FUN na... This was the word u used.. right..." . Navya was giving tough looks to Harshad.. Manik had understood a bit of situation.. Nandini " bolo na.."
Harshad was damn embarrassed and angry. He held Nandini's arm tightly and pulled her closer saying "shut up Nandini.." . Manik fumed and rushed to them.. Fab3 were surprised to see manik fuming and angrily walking towards Harshad.. Cabir hide his face with his hand and said to himself "IMPULSIVE Manik.. Ab ek aur excuse dena"
Before Manik could reach Harshad, someone came forward clearing the crowd and pushed Harshad shouting " How dare u..?" Harshad's head hit hard on the wall and he winced.
Nandini in a low voice " Maddie..". Aryamann held Nandini's hand and eyed harshad angrily.. Manik had stopped there only...
Harshad fumed and came forward to hit Aryamann.. Aryamann had left Nandini's hand when Harshad punched aryamann's face.. Aryamann gave Harshad a punch on his stomach.. Nandini and navya were horrified.. And so was Aaliya.. Aryamann pushed harshad again.. Aaliya rushed and stood between Harshad and aryamann shouting " stop it.. "
Aryamann and harshad both were fuming.. Harshad back off seeing aaliya. Aryamann also back off as Nandini had held his hand and asked him to back off...
Aryamann angrily " stay away from MY sister and MY nandini.." And he dragged Nandu from there.. Navya followed them. Harshad fumed and went inside music room.
Manik was dumbstruck.. All he could hear was " MY NANDINI"
