Chiseled hot bodies in sexy clothes .. enticing.. alluring... the rising hemlines the plunging necklines.. the shapely midriff , slender legs on stilettos... the results of dedicated long hours of exercising, restricting diet .Why shouldn't the hard work be flaunted? Why shouldn't it be cashed by being on display in ads, movies, magazines, newspapers,in car launches, product launches and other events? The eye would pop up, the mouth gape wide open and money shelled for those photographs, movies, newspapers, magazines, calendars for a better view.. Those bewitching faces , those lovely bodies are far away from the man on the street , near the influential ones.. yet both eye them.. some more.. some less..
But there are others of her gender...not that pretty.. mundanely dressed.. everyday on the street, on the bus, on the trains, on the roads, in colleges, in schools,in hospitals, in offices, in malls unsuspecting, that chikni chameli, fevicol se , munni badnam catchy tunes doesnot help her to be seen as a person with dignity but an object which can be cornered , can be overpowered for revenge ,timepass,or just as an expression of power...

We are of their ilk... we feel for both.. the one who was at the receiving end.. the one who let herself be portrayed as an object of desire for a respectable living...for the latter does launch campaign for her oppressed sisters..raises awareness at global platforms, gathers funds for charity to help the former...

Our voices grow stronger with our opinions on the right to wear short clothes as we please on the net... Yet many feel uncomfortable or embarrassed to watch KYY episodes in front of male family members...Would go for a more modest dress code than what Mukti wore if travelling by public transport or going to a crowded public place...

Peculiar are the times we live in.. vociferously wanting change but hesitant to be that instrument of change openly with conviction...

And best of all adding something to what you already wrote above
'it's far easier to preach than put in practice!'

hey thanks for your views! You hit the nail on the head. The hesitation of going forward as the road is tough often restricts many to a keyboard support. Then there are the few who take the plunge to do something and bring about a change which benefits others.Shreya Singhal comes to mind who helped repeal the draconian Sec66A giving SM users freedom to express.
