See. This is what I mean. When I came to watch this show and came here to get a jist of it, it was all roses and chocolates (as in, analyzed well). Then I watched. To me it was below par. You can take the show and make it look great on paper. I'll give you that. I liked the first few weeks of this show.
It's like a book. You didn't like it , i did. Won't be the first time, makes it a choice and perspective. Every viewer watches this show with his/her own perspective.
But then there was that Harshad character who couldn't act to save his life and he just vanished.
He couldn;t act , yes but his character did the damage. He was always grey- who used girls , showed how he trapped the naivety of this girl and left her pregnant. Now is on the run because he does n;t want to take that responsibility. i am sure we have read such cases before. We can discuss Navya's decision of keeping the baby, but thats the point- Pro Choice vs Pro life have been at it for ages.
I think. Nandini's character was just reduced to crying so much that everything else about her was flooded with the glycerin.
Well she cried when the person she loved was being operated and had a legit threat of his hand be amputated. She cried because she felt she was not respected- mind you she punched him first . And she cried because she was put in a dilemma infront of a judge which meant giving a statement unfavourable against her love. She cried when she realized that people were harsh on Navya but she collected herself as in her words she had to finish the fight. She was crying earlier too when she was being bullied , she cried even after punching him. It;s normal to cry. I would have bought your argument if she never stood up for herself.
Nandini's character is one I dislike.
Personal opinion and perspective.
She was good in the first few weeks. You know, when her life had Rishabh, science, music, trying to fix her life by working in some cafe, etc.
Umm Science was never a passion nor was music. It was evident from first episode that she was good at both but because of her circumstances she lacked the passion to pursue her interest. Just because she got 100 in science doesn't say much just like how Ams said that Nandini never lived for herself because she was thrust to take responsibility. .She never worked at the cafe to support herself , it was because she was expelled. Her Chacha and Chachi are loving and supportive.
If we have a character with perfect objective towards every aspect, love, life and studies- where is the conflict. Where is the character journey. They have never hidden, infact highlighted Nandini's lack of passion for herself. Which is her FLAW and hence the fusion concert where she is for the first time will be put under the spotlight. How she takes her talent from there on depends . But at 17, given music as a field is very abstract, not much of a stretch why this orphaned girl never had an idea about her own talent and what she wants to do.
Righteous moralist heroines whose life ONLY revolves around 1 thing which is Manik does not Impress to say the least.
Manik;s life revolves around her too. She has always been consistent about this.The person she loves, her life revolves around them, if you managed to watch the first episode - that was the point her Ams made. So the serial didn't cheat you with anything.She seems righteous because she is surrounded by people who take to grey and dark. But wait which of her decisions were not sensible? She is not preaching to the world. Heck even during Navya's track , she just asked people to state their choice and experience , didn't force her own opinion on others. Given the circumstances which of her decisions were wrong? Every story has a moral compass and she is the show's just like Healer had it;s.
Give her a focus on music , though she is still in college, then what is left to tell? Obviously they are moving towards her music journey with the fusion concert. Even though it's motivated by an ulterior factor but it will impact her music too.
You say she is too righteous but her lack of focus on herself which is her flaw is what makes her real. She is confused kid, given her background it works. She is not perfect and the writers are not trying to sell her like that. She makes mistakes, has her own fears- especially of abandonment by a loved one - which is being explored now, and given how she saw her parents die, makes sense why she is takes to guilt tripping about failing her loved one. It's her journey and dealing with this is what makes an interesting show for me- they had Cabir rebuke her on the guilt recently.Also slowly they are showing how her idealist world is full of manipulations , the reality. Manik and his mom's relationship is an eye-opener for her.
That is it.It did have a real kiss too which was not my point. Even after that real kiss, they continuef with the overdone and stupid kiss attempts. It had potential to be good.
Again your opinion. But if you haven't , then please watch where these two talk intimacy. They have been together , in a healthy relationship, obviously it will be impossible to show them kissing and making out every single time. Desi channel constraints. Also Manik was always a passionate guy who had a long past relationship and now with Nandini they are slowly easing with intimacy because that is realistic. She is also not shying away but very intune with her own desires- first for a desi show heroine.
The leads have chemistry but it went into a downwards slope not leaving me with much.
Well they keep it going for me. So I stick around and why this show is special to me. Because unlike other shows ,these two handle real issues like conflict in opinions, ideologies and still never consider the others' opinion as a reason to hate but with even with conflict they stick together and work around it. Monkeying for you, sensible for me.
It's just 2 characters monkeying around now. Thats it. They ruined the other characters along the way too.
Which other characters' , you mean Cabir- who has been amazing with the way he has dealt with his sexuality, his mom's reaction, the backlash and now finding his own feet with a job. Or Dhruv , who is now finally realizing his insecurities and how he lived under Manik all his life. Alya is learning from her experiences, has a better sense of what makes a relationship go and knows that she lived ina bubble for a long time. Mukti well , they tried working on her issues with relationship, because she was marred and disillusioned by them- didn't work but it happens in a daily show.
MaNan makes sense to me. hence I bother watching them and commenting.
I will give you that some of the acting has been all over the place, understandable because it's a young cast. Some will make sense to you , some won't. 20mins, main story will take 10 mins every day- thats how serials world
Manik's mothers character is one of the very few interesting ones but I think she shows up after 20 episodes.
You should watch now. She played her son on his trust issues. Helped Raghav . Her give and take. She is also someone who married an old man for money. Guess you are missing out a track which actually is dealing with her character. Probably the most interesting dynamics .
Going by the name of this show, I would've liked to see tracks played out well and closed well as well.

There are tracks they just left without proper closure.
State with examples. Because some are left for further storytelling. But there are some like Alya-Manik talked about their break-up, they both moved on and actually it was nice to see on desi tv people actually have a nice closure and a mature friendly bond between exes. Alya told Dhruv what she was living as a relationship with Manik, and realized how her baggage could have suffocated Dhruv
. Band-of-brothers, Nyonika connection- she is right now on the show messing with her son's issue , but he did drop the harshad connection - this is a longer arc meant for use later in the show. Raghav left Cabir and the latter is right now focused on his job and eventually winning his mom's acceptance of his sexuality.
Dhruv mentioned how there is disconnect in his friendship with Manik and his precap outburst is proof of that. Long time coming.
They are showing that inspite of their hugs and need to be together, fab5 are trying to move out and balance their personal lives with their friendship. Hear Cabir say that when Mukti kept a secret. They are aware , hence vindicating our essays.
You might not like it but they actually had Manik tell Nandini why these kids took to bullying.We might not agree with their methods but his reasoning made sense as to why they will take to it.
The title of this show should be Manik and Nandini. You can put in all the sense you want with words but onscreen, it just looks messy.

All the other characters and their connections with each other sucks and messed up and forward-worthy because "puri kaiynat" is busy milaofying Manik-Nandini. That is what the story has become.
Do you know Cabir and Nandini are friends, and how they bonded . Or how this show is trying to pull a Will and Grace with Cabir and Navya. Unfortunately more than fate now these two are always trying to be together even when they are fighting or going through a conflict because in the end they value each others' opinion and they learn from each other.
Healer misused Moon-ho, writers accepted. Fans like me felt bad but when the show makers mentioned the constraints , i respected it and understood.
Like I said , this discussion is pointless because you have reached a conclusion for a subjective matter. Hard to fathom that what doesn't click for you, does it for me?
