Part 3-

Family...he muttered softly and his expressions suddenly changed into cold again.

I think I shouldn't have said that but I said what I felt...maybe this is another touchy topic for him.

He again raised his beer bottle to take a sip but it was finished, he kept it on the table front of me and about to get up, maybe for getting another one, I stopped him and spinning the bottle at the table, it stopped on his side, I asked truth or dare? He was looking at me questioningly; I pointed at the bottle and repeated truth or dare? He smirked and replied truth...

Hummm I thought for a while to what should I ask, I have so many questions for him but he looks like a moody person, I can't take any risk, so went with a easy one, I asked...what the naughtiest thing you did in your childhood, he seems to lost in thinking then he smiled.

I m actually dying to know, what he has done.

Well when I was 10 years old, I used to go to Abhi's house in summer vacation but his Aunty was a devil and his parents usually live out, we hated her, once she has broken all the limits when she slapped Abhi, I wanted to teach her a lesson, so I emptied her shampoo bottle and filled it with hair removing cream...

My eyes were wide to hear this, anyone can guess what would have happen after that? I couldn't control myself and burst in laughter...so what she did after that?

Bought a wig I think, he shrugged but since the day she never messes with us, he replied with a wink.

I shook my head, goshhh this guys is mad.

He snatched the bottle from me and asked, have u ever stolen anything...I smiled to think about that...actually when I was in school, in a way there were a garden, it has most delicious mangoes, so me and my childhood friend Navya... used to steal it every day...he shook his head smilingly...mangoes?? Really?? Yup I replied and pulled the bottle, I asked have u ever cheated in exam? Well many times, he replied proudly...how do u think I graduated.

My turn...he asked have u ever watched blue film? My face turned tomato red, this guy is forward, koi aise sawal karta hai kya...I was feeling uncomfortable which he noticed...wohoo so miss innocent looking is not so innocent...

I glared at him, ok I have seen but it was a mistake...

Really tell me, he demanded with teasing smile...

We were kids when once we made a movie plan in Mukti's house, Me, Aliya and my other friend. Navya brought some new CDs from her elder brother's collection and we put in one, it started and suddenly...um... it was already difficult for me to tell and this Manik monster is not making it any easier by giving me teasing smile, he said, plz continue...

Well we thought movie will start soon and kept waiting for that scene to finish, we were so little that we doesn't even had idea what were we watching, but after few minutes Navya switched off the CD and replied with a pouting face, this movie is very bad, no songs or action, we all agreed with her and changed the CD...when I turned 14 or 15 I understood what we watched that day...and still sometimes we laugh on our own stupidity...

He was looking amused as if trying to control his laugh...then he started laughing like mad. Oh god Nandini u have watched it without knowing...I slapped his shoulder, ok shut up, but he kept laughing...listen I was kid ok, I folded my arms angrily but my lips involuntarily stretched into smile, it felt good to see him laughing, smiles suits him... after few minutes he sobered up... I pulled the bottle to me, my turn...truth or dare? Truth... we played like this for a while and shared some of our secrets with each other, by this game I got to know many things about him, like he lives here alone with his cousin Abhi who just moved in here, he is 22 years old and maintaining family business after completing his studies, his parents maybe live away, which he didn't tell but I guessed. He doesn't have many friends, he can't trust anybody easily rather he loves to spend time alone.

I also told him few things about me, It was weird that I opened up easily with a guy I met only two times...I felt him relaxed and fine so I took this opportunity to ask him about my curiosity...I asked...have u...have u... fell in love with someone? his cool and happy mood suddenly changed into cold and angry...it's getting late, I think u should go, he replied emotionlessly, I badly wanted to know about his love life, perhaps he is still not ready to share this part of his life...I nodded, yes I think I should go, this was a sign he doesn't want to talk anymore but I was feeling sad to leave this room, god knows when will we meet again.

I moved ahead to go but stopped in mid way and turned my head to look at him, he didn't pay attention to me, whereas looking lost in thought.

I started walking back to the party but his thoughts not leaving me, he was completely fine just a minute ago and then suddenly changed. I was little hurt by his behavior or maybe it was my mistake, just because he shared some of his secrets with me I started thinking we became friends, he doesn't know me that well, how could he tell me anything which is too personal and touchy for him...but still I wish he could share.

When I reached back, Mukti and Abhi were still engrossed in romancing, thank god, otherwise I have to answer Mukti about my disappearance again... when Mukti saw me she waved me and signaled to come, I pushed the crowd of drunk youngsters out of my way and reached to her...

Hey I looked for u but u were not here? She asked.

Umm I just went to washroom, she nodded... three of us talked for a while and then headed back to our house.

After changing in out nights gown we both parted ways to go to out separate rooms.

I lay down to my bed and starring the roof...this guy is really so confusing, the more I know about him, even more craving to know him, agrrr I gritted my teeth in frustration, why this Manik occupying my mind since I met him, what is it in him.

Next day me and Mukti walking back to our house, we liked to walk, especially Mukti as she always wanted to be slim, even an little weight gain freak her out, my phone rang I pulled it out from my hand bag but to see the name flashing on the screen make me role my eyes, hello dad...

Hello Nandu I hope u r doing fine.

Yes I m, why did u call? I m sure not for asking how I m, she asked bitterly.

Change ur attitude Nandini, this is not the way of talking to your father, anyways I wanted to inform you, tonight you are coming with us in a charitable ball, vineet Singhania who is very good friend of mind invited our whole family over there, he wanted to meet u specially, he has seen u when u were little and u played with him sometimes, he is soon going to launch a new project which I want him to make me part too, that's why this whole ball dinner is very important, I hope u will behave.

Oh so that's why u r calling me, listen dad I don't have time for your business deals...I replied sharply.

How dare u? U have to come and that's my order...understand. Then he cut the call leaving me rooted at the place.

When he called I actually thought maybe he is calling me ask if I was ok or not, or do I need anything but no he called me just because Vineet uncle wants to meet me and he will get profit by making him happy... Vineet uncle is old friend of my father, he loves me like his own daughter and used to give me chocolate every day when I was little, I too wanted to meet him but not with my devil of a step mom but my father, how could he force me to come to some ball since he knows I can't stand his wife and he expect me to behave around her.

Mukti was looking at me with worried expression? She kept one hand on my shoulder and squeezed it lightly in a comforting way, are u ok? She asked, I touched her hand and nodded, I m fine.

She is the only one person in the world who understand everything about me without asking and I m blessed to have a friend like her.

I got ready for a party and headed towards the car my father sent for me, Mukti offered to come with me but I declined she had a dinner date with Abhi, which I didn't want her to cancel because of me...

I was hurt but still he is my father, if I can be any help for him, it will be my honor and another thing is Vineet Uncle I m so excited to meet him, I spotted my father, my step mom cruella and step sis Simi, I walked to them and stood there without saying anything, Simi smiled to me which I returned with a smile...other than that no interaction with my family.

After few minutes Vineet Uncle came and gave me a hug first, ignoring my dad and cruella. Nandu u grown up so fast, I still remember the chubby, little Nandu, I smilingly replied and I still remember those Chocolates Vineet Uncle...owe but don't call me uncle here, it makes me feel old, u know I m still unmarried, I don't want women of this party hear this, he said with a wink, I laughed he is really so frank...

Talking with him always lightens my mood, Dad moved forward and shook hand with him then they both got engrossed in their business talking.

I was looking here and there to avoid cruella but I had no such luck, she came to me flaunting...show off...I muttered rolling my eyes...

I thought u will not come?

Well I came here just because of Vineet Uncle.

Yeah right, do you think u r so special and we can't get this project without you? She asked with venom in her voice.

of course that's why your husband called me and requested to come I said to piss her off, in which I succeeded, her face was red with anger but quickly it changed into a smirk.

I looked at it and my blood started boiling, this is my mother's favorite Necklace, my father gifted her on their first wedding anniversary. Cruella's eyes were on my mother's jewelry since she entered in our house. She can have everything I don't care but not the thing which is close to my mom, how could he do this? He could gift her anything but why this, I love my mom very much so everything she loves, and everything related to her is touchy for me...this necklace is made for my mother only...this cruella know this and that's why showing it off to make me angry.

I make a move to snatch it but she stepped back. Easy girl, it was your mother's, I know but now it's mine...my breathing was fast with all the rage I was feeling inside...

My father noticed the tension between us, so he interrupted our fight, what are u two doing? I told u to behave...

He roughly grabbed my elbow and dragged me out from the Party...cruella following him.

Why are u making a scene over a stupid thing? He shouted.

Stupid? It can be stupid for you but not for me, I want it back, she doesn't deserve to wear it.

Stop it Nandini, u forgot respecting your elders, she is your mother...

No I shouted back, she is not and can never be my mom...I won't let her claim what my mother loves, I angrily walked ahead to take away the necklace but my father held my hand, he slapped me hard on my cheeks, I was shocked, he never did that to me before, I looked back at my father who has a regretting expression on his face but now its too late while Cruella was smirking proudly, I stepped back...u r changed dad, u r changed...he tried to reach to me but I took another step back, u r not the same anymore I shouted with tears brimming in my eyes... I ran away, I had no idea where I was going I just wanted to go far from him...some people around giving me odd looks but I didn't care...I ran until my feet started aching, I stopped running but still walking on the road...I looked at my cell phone, wanted to call Mukti but she must be with Abhi and enjoying her date, I have no right to interrupt their nice moments, so decided to keep walking.

I felt someone calling my name but I ignored, I m not in a mood of talking to anyone right now...after a while someone tapped on my shoulder, I stopped and turned back...I was calling you since long where were u lost? Hello I m talking to you, a familiar voice snapped, I was silent and my vision was blur because of tears...I wiped them and get a better look of the person standing front of me, it was Manik. I was staring at him surprisingly, he waved his hand front of my eyes, are u listening me Nandini? He asked.

Go away...I replied and started walking again...he stopped me by holding my hand, where are u going?

I don't know...I replied and tried to make my hand free but his grip was firm, come with me he ordered and started tugging me towards his car. Sit...I shook my head, No...

He took a deep sigh, trying to control his anger...and ordered again, I said sit, his voice was intense this time, I didn't say anything and took a seat...he climbed on driver's seat and started driving.

we both were silent, I turned my head towards him while he turned his to me at the same time. I quickly turned towards the window not daring to look back but I noticed him giving me quick glances every minute.
