Hi Kashish!
I am a stalker of the forum too and some posts are amazing! While others I disagree with..Due to scarcity of time, I don't really comment.
Our mutual friend hooked me to the show and to Manik and Nandini.
Main kya kahun?I liked your post..but I am afraid we might be on slightly different roads..they go the same way, though ;)
I love both of them, and together, they kind of work perfect. Separate: he goes out of control or in self-destructive modes; and she becomes a soggy tissue paper.
I used to love nandini's character, the simplicity and frankness that Manik adored; that made him want to protect her and be a nice person: for her. Because he knew it would make her happy.
I loved it all.
But then, we saw character reversals: where Manik was once called selfish (for not giving her a choice to walk away or work on the Dhruv thing together), he only cared about her and Fab5, but mostly her.
Anything to make her happy.
And we saw Nandini, who stayed on this moral high ground, firm in her knowledge that she is right.
Not realizing that 'Right' can be hurtful, that right breaks relationships.
That both friendships and romantic relations are based on sacrifice, compromises, and understanding.
There are few times when she has acknowledged his help, his support but those few times are washed away by the times she has not..she's been callous too.
Just like he has been (unintentionally)
He has tried to give her everything he thought she wanted.
Problem is: she does not know what she wants.
Manik has worked in extremes, Nandini is mostly level headed.
Ever since I saw him in the drunk scene, I saw the child who wanted love, who wanted attention but first, got the 'this is not good for class and image' and now is getting 'this is not good because it is false'.
I feel so strongly that he needs someone to hold him. Just hold him:
ever since that first hug, all he wants when he's shocked, upset or sad is to be held by nandini- no questions asked.
His need for that is so much that sometimes, he deliberately asks for breaks: breaks from sensibility, breaks from all that.
I still think if Nandini is at all at fault it would be to make her doubts public, since Manik's life would be at stake.
I refuse to believe she does not trust him. She trusts that he will not hurt her, and if he does, he'll hurt himself more anyway.
BUT- she is the one person who can calm him down; and I have mentioned this before: she was unconscious, and Manik is very capable of beating the hell out of anyone who hurts Nandini. Agar in his attempts to reach Nandini to save her even had led to Soha's death: it would be of no big matter, as it was self-and nandu's defence.
And in fits of temper, Manik can do anything for Nandini.
But that I am not sure, I don't know and involvement are strong phrases: he was not involved in her death: involved makes it sound cold-blooded to me.
And I don't know implied to Manik that as usual, Nandini doesn't have faith in him: that he is a good person..and for someone who did so much to quite literally please her, that is painful.
The one person you admire, with all her faults, with all her issues, and love her, and respect her: to hear her say that is for her to ignore all that love. To disregard all that he's done to save her and win her back.
I agree with u when u say he really needs to see her passion. Either she should walk away for sometime and give the baby some space to cool down; or sit him down and pin his hands and get really close to him and say: I am not leaving you. Ever. I will shine for you as you shine for me. I You are always in my prayers. I trust you. And this: I love you.
All he needs is TLC, definitely not explanations..because this isn't about explanations anymore.. the first step to heal a hurt child or person is to calm them down, by tending to their wounds...not by giving preventive measures and diagnoses.
