Cabir-Manik One Shot: Of Dates and Parties

"Manik, what plans do you have for tomorrow bro? Shall we hang out?" Cabir asked him when Manik had his back towards him so that he couldn't see the wide smirk on Cabir's face. He knew all too well that he had plans which his best friend wasn't willing to tell anyone. But he was Cabir, and he was born to torture his friends in the most unlikely of ways.

"Err, Cabir, actually uh, Nyonika has some uh work for me so I can't uh come." Manik stuttered, trying hard to cover up. Of all the days, Cabir had to choose the day he had his first date.

"Manik, tell Nyonika that you'll do it till five in the evening, we can hang out after that. Come on Manik, it's been a long time since we were on our own. You know you can do it." Cabir said, his smirk just growing, but he suddenly became serious as Manik turned.

"You know Nyonika Cabir, she uh, never listens to me." Manik said, trying to get Cabir off his back but Cabir didn't seem to budge. He usually never forced him, but as Cabir said, it had been a long time. But he couldn't say no to Nandini either since he had postponed this date around five times. He didn't want to be punched again and nor did he want to break up with her so he had no choice but to tell Cabir. The date was a secret because Nandini didn't want anyone to interrupt it and she was angry because Dhruv knew so I couldn't risk it.

"I'll talk to Nyonika," Cabir said and pulled out his phone, scrolling through his contacts. Manik snatched the phone as quickly as he could before Cabir figured out the truth.

"Cabir, Nyonika will kill me, I've postponed her work long enough and you know her, she won't help me out the next time around." Manik said, still thinking of what he had to do.

"Manik, what exactly is the work?" Cabir asked him, seeing that Manik had almost reached breaking point.

"Err, voh, actually, I have to, uh, go to a party with her. Yes, a party. Nyonika is forcing me to go because her friends haven't seen me in a while and I've skipped many parties already." Manik said, sighing inside for finally finding an excuse.

"Oh, then we can hang out in the morning, right Manik?" Cabir asked him, right when the phone buzzed.

Manik saw that he had a text from Dhruv, saying that he had to meet with the organizers tomorrow morning for the final planning of the date. As soon as Cabir saw the color change on Manik's face, he knew that Dhruv texted him. They'd planned this as soon as Dhruv let it slip that Manik won't be able to come to their boys night out and they were successful.

"Cabir, actually Nyonika wants help with the arrangements since it's at home so I'm busy the whole day tomorrow man, I'm sorry." Manik told him genuinely.

"Manik, do you mean Nandini instead of Nyonika?" Cabir asked him, his phone in hand to capture the expressions on Manik's face which were priceless. He was surprised, shocked and terrified because someone was going to kill him, either Cabir or Nandini.

"No Cabir, I mean Nyonika. Why will I mean Nandini?" Manik stuttered again, wondering how Cabir had figured it out.

"You'll mean Nandini because you have a date with her tomorrow Manik." Cabir said, laughing now, seeing Manik turn red.

"Wait, what? How do you know that?" Manik asked him.

"How do you think I know that lover boy?" Cabir asked him, laughing.

"Dhruv," Manik said to himself and Cabir burst out laughing. He opened the gallery in record time and uploaded the photos he clicked in record time, tagging Manik, Dhruv and Nandini. Before Manik could delete it, he saw Dhruv calling him.

He started shouting as soon as he picked up the call and Cabir kept laughing throughout. Just then, he saw that Nandini was calling him and Cabir picked the call up, gulping. Soon, both Dhruv and Cabir were shouting at Manik and Nandini while Manik and Nandini turned silent out of guilt after shouting at their best friends.

It's been long so it's not good, but my mood was better, so yeah. Also, Cabir and Dhruv shout at them because they were keeping secrets from them. 😆
