The first significant sentence that Manik has spoken since the breakup.
Its always been others asking and Manik feinting or parrying the question.

In an Alcoholics Anonymous or any other addiction rehab, people go to, they always say the first step to recovery is to acknowledge you have a problem.
In the same vein of reference, its probably the first time since the breakup that Manik has acknowledged that the decision he took so hastily and with such reckless abandon might not be the right one. He is confused and rightfully so, we the viewers have known it, probably Cabir too but for the first time Manik has acknowledged that its not so straightforward and that Nandini has "the power to drive him crazy"

I think this acknowledgment has also led to a more playful interaction between Manik and Nandu the next day, there was a lot more playfulness in the way Manik was dealing with Nandini as opposed to the last few days.

The breakdown of Manik's stubborn stupidity has indeed begun.

I think soon after the aftermath of watching her cry in her room and with her giving up on her fireflies, he was pushed to the extreme where he took to the maddening rage for Harshad to numb everything that has happened with him.
It took Nandini's no to Dhruv to actually slow him down, because that is when things went unplanned for him. He lost control- her no brought hope , guilt, confusion and everything else.

That is why he pushed for reasons for her No because in his head Dhruv fits the bill for her happiness, a part of him is also living with hope that the reason is him. Yet his guilt towards Dhruv has prevented him to confronting all of it.

He is confused because the enormity of his mistake- the one impulsive decision is slowly dawning on him. Cabir's words , Nandini's accusations/goading and finally his need for her is all crashing on him.

He is at the ends of his struggle but he doesn't want to let go and accept the wrong he has done which to him will mean guilt towards his brother like friend. Hence his confusion .

This confusion like you said is the first step, now when he gives in to her touch - he will know just how he cannot part ... somewhere he will have to move towards acceptance.

She drives him crazy because she is all that is keeping him going.

That's the line that stood out for me in the episode. The bit about how "she was driving him crazy" and how "confused he was"
So far he's been pushing his emotions back, refusing to acknowledge they exist. He thought with a snap of his fingers, the feelings would go away. But now, when all he can do is think about her tears, when he gets so worked up that his call won't reach her, when the mere sight of Dhruvs hands on her makes him sick to the stomach... He's admitted out loud, even though it's something he knows deep down, that his decision is tearing him apart.

I wonder if he equated this to how he easily went off from Alya. Maybe subconsciously he thought like he switched off from Alya, he could do the same with Nandini. Little did he realise it's not the same thing, or maybe he knew deep down that these feelings are actually real and nothing compared to what he felt for Alya, although he thought he should be able to pushed them back. Hence the confusion and her driving him crazy.
