Why is everyone so shocked with Manik?

Like I felt that it was expected if they went with the cliche track, that he'll say everything he did was for revenge. Plus it's completely in character with Manik. Someone who doesn't think at all, when it comes to helping his friends.
Plus there were hints along the way, too.
He wasn't completely going to change his own personality/character all of a sudden...
Plus every love story on television has to show obstacles, otherwise the show will be too happy.
Plus, this is the part where they grow trust with each other. By overcoming this hurdle.

Well I don't think we were shocked with Manik doing this revenge drama because we all were aware that Cvs had chosen to go this route. People were shocked with the way Cvs handled the scene. I'm also not a fan of the too sweet and happy love stories because I'm also a sucker for angst but the whole scene today was just too CRUEL. I can't imagine anyone behaving this way with the person they love not matter what reason their reason was. Manik's taunts, his words, his laughter I really couldn't digest it at all.
I will post what I said in my other post.
I get he has to make her believe him but he actually OVER DID IT. First telling her "You should be proud of yourself because you have been the biggest challenge in my life." The way he points to her head mocking her for not understanding him. The way he laughs when she pleads him not to say it and replies to her with "mission Nandini Murthy accomplished." I felt like slapping the sh** out of him when he connected their kiss to her punch. I can picture how Nandini must have felt about herself. She probably cringed at the thought when she remembered every time he touched her and that kiss is going to be a nightmare for her now. She kept begging him to stop and he still continued with his revenge sh**and started to imitate her pleading him. I swear Nandini should have gave him one of her punches because he truly deserved it more than last time. Finally he finishes it off by putting that stupid fab5 sticker on her forehead and laughing like jerk while telling her "finally I have you Nandini" as if telling her she was just a bet that he had won and had fun wasting his time with her. Could anyone imagine how Nandini must have felt. He not only broke her completely he also humiliated her by telling her she doesn't have a class after asking her do you know what's the difference between you and me (I was like you are an a** and she's an angel that's the difference)
This is too much crap to take. If it was any other girl who wasn't as strong as Nandu then she might have though about ending her life or doing something crazy. It's never ok to mess with someone's feelings like that be it for your SON-like FRIEND or for whatever reason.
I blame it all on Cvs they OVER DID the whole thing.
Trying to act mean/rude is not the same as acting like a complete jerk and an a**hole.
I forgave them for doing that sacrifice drama even though VG told us there won't be anything clichd and then they came up with this revenge crap all of us were angry but decided to trust Cvs that they will surprise us with something different. But today was a shocker for me. I can't believe they made Manik stoop this low.
We all know that MaNan are end game but please don't ruin their character and then tell us well it doesn't matter cause they're the end game. We don't ONLY care about their love story we care about them as individual characters that we have loved and associated with real life.

See although I'm not a fan of how they did it as welI, I kind of thought they were going to be cruel anyway.
See if Nandini thought he was only being rude/mean, she wouldn't have believed it entirely. He had to be the jerk and asshole he was at the start to sell it. This was exactly how Manik would have reacted at the start.

I don't think it was fair on Nandini, and I'm not a fan of the cliche sacrifice track, I just think in a way, manik's reaction was, although not justified, predictable.

The CV's completely ruined the characters of Manik and Nandini.
Manik : How could he hurt her after he promised her that he would never hurt her again? How can he break her trust and think of passing her to his best buddy as if she is some commodity? What if she rejects Dhruv... what will he do then?
Nandini : How could Nandini believe that Manik was taking revenge on her after knowing him? He saved her many times, never took advantage of her and even shared with her his deepest secrets. His confession to her was a very touching one. He opted to go to her when he found about Cabir instead of any of his friends. He got emotional and reached her house at 3 in the morning just to see her and hugged her as if his life depended on her. She did not trust his love for her! Nandini did not even trust her fireflies! Her trust in love vanished because of just a few harsh words.
Well, I would say that the CV's murdered them literally.

I think after he said "mission Nandini Murthy accomplished" that was more than enough for him to stop the act. The girl was already in tears by then and totally broken. I don't see why he continued to break her further. Cvs needed to keep in mind that Manik supposedly STILL loves her damn it so he still can't be this CRUEL with her even if he tried. Her tears would sting him, her pleading words would stab his heart. When you really love someone you can't see them in pain let alone you become the person responsible for giving them that pain. Sorry but in my eyes, Manik was a total jerk. I don't even get what does he think Nandini will do after telling her all of this was revenge. Does he think she will run into the arms of his Dhruv??? The girl lost hope in love, trust , fireflies and every friggen thing she valued in her life. No one is going to be happy after all of this not even his 93 roses boy.

you are right..every love story sees some obstacles...but still can't see this type of track especially when the guy is fully in love but sacrificing it for the sake of his friends when he knows that the girl is equally in love with him...and Manik's character was not like that...he used to get jealous seeing Nandu and Dhruv together and he warned her too not be friends with Dhruv...now where has the possessiveness gone!!! I can understand Manik's situation but don't want to understand as I don't like separation 😔

It's all CV's plan..they are just ruining the story...though I am liking PaNi's acting but still can't tolerate this sacrificing track for too long

Manik being manik is fine. I even digested the fact that there will be revenge. But the cruelty he showed, the choice of words, punch n challenge I m not fine with that.. They wanted to show manan hating each other but manik went too over board. How will he FX this?I don't think nandini will ever love again.. I don't want to see dhurni.

Don't get me wrong but I can't digest the fact that some people out here are even defending manik, If something like this happened to me or with any friend of mine, I would just never be able to like that guy again. But since it is a show, let us hope Manik goes out of his way to make up for the blunder he has done. But then it won't be easy.
First he falls in love with girl and almost makes sure that she loves him back too and makes her feel like a princess but then the moment he gets to know about Dhruv, he takes a 360 degree turn and decides to sacrifice his love for Dhruv without thinking about Nandini's feelings. And the worst part was that right before the performance, he broke her heart in the most atrocious way possible. Damn, Nandini didn't deserve anything at all.

Plus Manik treats her like a puppet, he always does things as per his convenience. My poor little innocent Nandini.

im not defending Manik. I said from the start that I hate the sacrifice track since it's about making the girl look like a possession. His move was not justifiable but predictable.
