The point you said about him always protecting his friends from no specific enemy, so true. Harshad has caused a trouble to Mukti and the girl is still scarred. He only likes to be a monster to scare people away, he's not the "real monster". He's actually vulnerable from inside.

RK - I would've been equally surprised if a guy, this easily, accepted his feelings for someone else...but This is Manik Malhotra we are talking about. He is who he is. To the face, and there is nothing else around it. It is all an interplay of many things that have made him who he is today. Be it lacking a supportive, normal family, or finding Fab5 such early in life...He cares for those who are close to him and will go that extra mile to protect them no matter what, even if it includes destroying himself.

I think Alya and him happened because they were "just together" and Fab5 are anyway SO IN THEIR OWN BUBBLE, that he probably never ventured out. They liked each other. So they dated. And, it worked well for Fab5 as a group. "Love" was probably never there for Manik & Alya because the guy has ONLY started to experience such a feeling when Nandani came into his life. No wonder he completely "changes". For Alya, Manik was just always there. Its almost like a habit, you know. Things you don't question because they've always been there all your life. But, with Nandani coming into his life...He has begun questioning things, changing his relationships (hence, the deconstruction of Fab5 as they are all venturing out into the world)...breaking up with Alya is HUGE. 7 years is a damn long time...for him to let it go and then, fall in love with Nandani says a lot. He is clear about what he feels for Nandu, and is not shy to admit it because he knows she feels the same. I ADMIRE THIS ABOUT HIM <3.

"This" is his journey - be it protecting Cabir from the world & Harshad, Mukti from Harshad, Dhruv from his attacks...but it will be Nandani who will protect him, hug him, provide that peace, solace, stability, and love in his life. At the end of the day, he needs the same...someone to love him back.

(RK - Phirse Essay likha diya mujhe!! You just have to say "Manik" and I can just never stop...😆)
