Hi, this is my view on the issue of being a gay.

Being a gay is a person's choice just like some like fair, some dusky. Some slim so some chubby.

So some like same gender, then why should it be a big deal!

Infact one major problem I see is the lack of choice ( but if I come down to nitty gritty, even most of straight people do not end up with their choice, it is just a false illusion).

Pubic redicule:
Tell me whom doesn't public redicule!!!
You are fat your are teased...
You are thin then also...
Ugly, beautiful, rich, poor, weak, loud, eccentric, reserved no one is spared from this public eye or redicule if you allow them. It's as if their comments reflect your insecurities.

Females in our society are not spared from the teasing. Infact it's worse.

I feel that wwhether gay or straight it's how you project that reflects in other people's words or perspective. If you love and respect yourself you will find opposite person also treating in the same manner.

Cabir wanted acceptance, that's what he got from Manik. Probably if he maintains positive outlook his situation would not be bad as Raghav is trying to pproject it to be.

Big Deal not because the person is Gay it's because Gay is shown on Mainstream Indian TV probably first time... so CVs are nervous and running relevant promos 😕 Even cast is tweeting saying it's a big step and they need support

This is not an issue for people like you and me who think liberally. It's Cabir's choice and he has the right to choose his partner, be it opposite or same gender, that's his own decision.

But there are people who don't take this normaly. The society still doesn't accept it fully. They will keep taunting and teasing. They believe that it's disgusting. As Raghav said, there are no place for gays in this society, the society won't accept their relationship. Hence both Cabir and Raghav are scared to disclose about their truth.

And that's why the CVs are giving importance to this track to change the POV of the society and to encourage all the gays out there to recognize their likes and share it with the world.

Exactly. It is a very sensitive and delicate track. The CVs need to be cautious. I support this cause because I believe in liberty.

Is MTV mainstream? I am asking my friend to watch this serial for 7 days now.
She is not able to find MTV channel on her TV. But her whole family watches all other popular serials.

Till now am not able to digest the idea that someone is not able to find MTV among the channels.

That depends on the cable connection/package. MTV in Bangladesh is mainstream just like starplus, zee and sony.

Yes MTV is mainstream but not GEC (Star Plus, Colors, Zee) ... MTV makes content for youth and reaches "good amount" of households in the country. Not being able to find the channel is pretty weird because its has equal reach as GECs.

It's definitely not a big deal, or any deal, on paper.
But I don't know if you live in India, reality is quite different. Homosexuality, like Raghav says, is treated as either a joke or some disease by ordinary people here. He was so on point about the extreme amount of ridicule and shunning they face. Fair or dark, slim or fat, you will not be marginalized in your own society. But being gay, you will be shunned, ridiculed and marginalized. People will fear you, mock you- your life, your career will be in jeopardy.
One of my best friends is gay and this issue is extremely close to my heart. Because I see him everyday going through horrible issues and extreme struggle, I know how it feels much better than other people. Homosexuality is still an insult over here, people get murdered over this. It is a massive freaking deal in India. At least for now.
I am so impressed that MTV managed to bring out this extreme marginalization that some people face for who they are and who they love. This is probably why I genuinely understand Raghav when he asked Cabir to remove the rose-tinted glasses and face reality. This is a horrible place to be in.

I am from India unfortunately. And chose to live in India thinking that no other place is like your own country.
Sometimes I think of leaving. Then again I think country is made up of people, if I leave then am I not increasing the population of people with attitude that I don't approve or negative.

I am hoping for a change in my country_ positive change. Want to be present here when it happens. Want to be part of it. Currently am a passive participant in bringing positive change. 😊

But tell me whom does Indian s accept?
Marry against parents wishes- kill
People from lower caste - absolute right to torture
People from different communities - kill each other
Girl seen alone at day or night - don't want to mention what happens

Yes TV is a powerful media, that can bring about change. How it is perceived by viewers one can't control. So hoping it brings positive change.

being a gay is definitely not a big deal...people have their own choices...thn why should we oppose if some1 likes people of his own gender...love has no boundaries...so being a gay shouldn't b a big deal too...
bt though it is a very simple mater 2 u nd me bt there r many people whose thoughts r not so liberal lyk us...they dnt understand da fact...rather they make disrespectful comments,..sordid views...gay people often have 2 face da taunts of da society people...dats da worst fact abt our society...until their outlooks changes towards da gay people it will remain as a big deal 2 them...
nd moreover...I guess it is da 1st time they r showing a gay track on a TV channel...so dats why may b they r trying 2 highlight da fact..😕.
