Chapter -3

Not able figure answers to any of the questions, she left the tunnel hastily as she heard the chirping of birds marking the break of dawn. The moment she was going to step out of the door, she heard an enchanting voice echo in the fort, as mesmerizing as the dawn could be. They said beauty lies in eyes, beauty lies in thoughts, beauty lies in soul, but Mehika knew how beauty could lie in voice. A female voice, blending wonderfully with the flute's melody.

Zid yeh thi tumhe, ki hum bhi kuch kahein

Hamein yeh gila tha ki tum chup rahe

She could hear the resonance made by ghungroos and she approached towards the source, when everything grew silent all of a sudden and she could hear the Flute being played monotonously. She kept sauntering towards the harmony and she thought how incomplete the music was without words, and that is when she tried to sing along, to sing along a song which she herself had never heard of, nor did the world know about the existence of such music, such melody. The girl who had always stayed miles away from music was herself singing today, singing flawlessly with emotions prominent from each musical note.

Yeh Majbooriyan, aur yeh faasle

chah nahi te bhi badhte gaye

That is when she was interrupted by the same female voice which was singing ealier, whose voice had touched the chords of Mehika's heart already, touched her soul deep.

Ab jo yeh ehsaas hai

Yeh jo doori aas hai

Rehne de yunhi mere jo Jazbaat hai

The music led her to a huge open roof as she climbed up the stairs in the other side of the fort. The very next moment she found herself admiring the flowers of a huge tree, which seemed rather old and strong. Mehika closed her eyes as she went near the tree and she could hear myriads of voices shouting some names, speaking a language she never had spoken but she seemed to understand what they meant. The voices to familiar to her, yet too randomly said, putting her mind into. She heard a sudden shriek which brought her out of the trance. The holing grew louder with passage of time. Initially Mehika stood still, too confused to react and then she started running all of a sudden, trying to find an exit. She could no more stay here as the place which had proven itself to give her solace was causing no less than mental trauma, creating a havoc of unknown emotions and unseen incidents in her young naive mind.

She run everywhere but that door was nowhere to be found. The fort was no less than a maze, analogous to the maze of her recent life. She could see the break of dawn as the light lit her pale face up. Hastily she moved away from the constant bawl and fell down the stairs during doing the same. She fell back to the same hall where she was sometime back. As the voices approached her, she closed her eyes tight and shut her ears with both her hands and screeched furiously so that every other voice would sound faint. After sometime those voices faded out and so she put her hands down and that is when she realized how she had left the huge sword somewhere upstairs. She was terrorized by those voices undeniably, yet she wanted to keep the sword within her reach. But she knew she had to return the next day, rather that very night to take that sword as she was already running late and all her teachers would be searching for at that very moment. As she got up to move towards the door she realized that she had left her amulet up in the roof where she finally found the it near the tree. As she picked it up and was about to move, innumerable small metallic bells which were supposed to be strung together to form a ghungroo fell loose on the roof floorboards, rolling and making magnificent reverberation which turned into a creepy one soon, as they all seemed to advance towards her, endlessly and swiftly. She walked without turning back, resisting the motion of beads and that is when she saw a figure just walk past her, as fast as light, with a whoosh and she turned to find no one in sight. And that is when she heard the same magnificent voice singing the song, in a fading tone.

Rahein na kuch bhi darmiyaan

Mitey yeh saari duriyaan

Milke bhi hain adhuri si,

Yeh daastaan...

i am the first!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i read it in a one go...

i loved it,but the way the story is unfolding...i am disappointed...,

now don't call me rude, you know i am sweet..don't you?

well,i am a bit disappointed because, the story didn't unfolded as much as i expected...

but the way you portrayed the inner trauma of mehika is amazing, the way the music, gungurus and

the sword affected her...,the way that music lead her to that tree..to that flowers...

the hints you gave about past...her inner connection towards that sword...

amazing ipti,

but i hope you will let the story progress a bit more in next update...

Jiya...

I love the song lines, is it an actual song?
