I have a hard time mixing in with them bcoz of these little things. I feel like a misfit. 😕 I miss India soo much that time😭

I agree, No matter how hard we try, we can never be like them.

Easier said than done Evee, in my case I live in a prominently American community, You have to socialise with those ppl mainly bcoz you dont have a choice. I cant showcase my Indianness on my face and act like a snob!! You have to be respectful to ppl around you. None of my friends are snobs, they like to make me as comfortable as possible. its not their fault that our culture is different. I am not going to act air headed bcoz I think my culture us cooler. I feel like a misfit, Its not as if they make me feel like a misfit. Its different. hope u get what i am trying to say.

K-fan, i don't know whether evee got what you said but i sure did 😆

It's actually not that bad. My school is prominently white too. White people do have different cultures but it's still a lot of fun to hang out with them. In fact, over here, the white people are a lot more fun to hang out with than the Indians. A lot of politics going on with our brown lil community. 🤢 There are times when you feel like a misfit but overall it's actually great fun. and as Evee said, we've got the best of both cultures. we're one of the lucky few.

But all said and done, India still tugs at my heart

love,
LT

I think in America I feel like a misfit more among the Indians (not IF). They try so hard to walk/ talk/ be American, it gets annoying. I'm not saying all American Indians are that way, but a lot are.

true Selina, I have seen Indians who wont even acknowledge another Indian and try to act all American and there is a lot who almost act too rude in front of Americans, almost throwing there Indianess in the Americans face. I have friends who have told me that certain Indians are very rude. 😕They have this "I only socialise with Indians" wriiten all over them. No wonder white ppl hate them, they say if U like India that much why did U come here😕I hate both these extremes

Luckily I am in the middle. I love socialising with Indians and Americans both😃.

I'm lucky to be in the middle too. But I have experienced, like you said, a lot of Indians who wont even acknowledge other Indians. Its almost like they are ashamed of their own culture. I dont know how a person can be like that.
