The mother gets custody of the child more than 70% of the time and that is a fact. If the mother if unfit then the the child may go to the father. Usually the mother and father get equal custody, but again it varies from case to case. But because we are talking about Angad and Kripa Angad wouldn't be seen as the fittest father in front of the court.
