Actor Iqbal Khan who has been hooked and booked for over two years, has finally taken his relationship a step ahead. He has introduced his parents to the love of his life.
"I was so damn nervous," he confesses. "My parents are simple folk from Srinagar. They aren't use to the glitz and glamour of Mumbai. But I must give complete credit to Sneha for impressing them and winning their love and trust."
Iqbal's parents, who met Sneha for the first time, hadn't been aware that his son had found his ideal woman. "My parents mean the world to me and I didn't want to shock them. I wanted them to meet Sneha before I broke the news to them," says Iqbal. "I introduced them to her and eventually asked them if they liked her. Obviously the answer was 'yes.'"
Now that they've got a formal approval, the couple is soon going to tie the knot. "I'm going to get married but I need to attend to a few things before that," he says. "I want to buy a house and stabilise my bank account. I guess, by the end of this year everything will be on the right track."
Will religion be an issue in their marriage plans? "Obviously, my family was a bit apprehensive but everything is sorted out now," he replies. "Sneha has the ability to win hearts. My parents were very happy after meeting her. They agree that she is the suitable girl for me."
Professionall, Iqbal is busy with Kaisa Yeh Pyaar Hai, and now Kavyanjali. Does Sneha too harbour ambitions to get into the glamour world? "She is so very lazy," he sighs. "Sneha wants to look after our home and, eventually, the kids. That itself is a full-time job, I guess."
About his marriage he says: "I might get married next month. My parents will decide the date. My main concern was getting them to meet Sneha formally. The rest of the details will be finalised by them."
Iqbal is expected to visit his home town to meet his family and relatives. "My family has always lived in Srinagar and its difficult for them to get used to the hot Mumbai weather. However, they do like the people here."
