Hey guys – just got my GR8 magazine and theres something I'm sure u r gonna love!!!! I know the moderators will surely upload the pic and article-am typing it out for you:-
" Gurpreet is hig maintenance and arrogant!"complain Kahiin to hoga unit members.
" We miss Rajeev," the cast cries out!
" Gurpreet resembles our milkman," Rajeev's peeved fans wail.
Gurpreet Singh, the man who dared to step into Rajeev Khandelwal's shoes finds himself at odds with the cast, the crew and the Sujalians. Being Sujal seems an uphill task! Only he can tell where the shoe pinches him most!…..
When Gurpreet Singh walked into the soap factory for an audition for Kaisa yeh pyar hai, little did he know that he was in for something bigger than that ! He bagged the most coveted role that fell vacant after Rajeev walked out of kth.
Coveted it may be but the replaced guy Gurpreet is in an unenviable position.
Ever since he began shooting for kth, he has been not just under the media scrutiny, but also has been receiving harsh criticism from his peers, the cast and the crew albeit behind his back. A member of his crew on condition of anonymity says , "He is high maintenance. Everytime he walks onto the set , he orders people around. He orders for juice and tea at the same time . How the hell is he going to drink both at the same time?!" laments another , "Rajeev was so well-behaved…"
An actress close to Rajeev says, " We all miss Rajeev like hell. He was never arrogant unlike him. Gurpreet won't be able to do justice to Sujal. We want Rajeev to come back."
But the man under scrutiny was oblivious to the entire hullabaloo. It was nothing more than a storm in the tea-cup for him. " At that time I didn't know what I was getting into!"Gurpreet smiles.
Not only that , he had not even watched KTh before! Its only when he went home to delhi did he know "what is Sujal. That's the only serial that was running because of a man and everyone told me that you will face lots of pressure and people would have big expectations from you . It will be difficult. But I didn't take any pressure on me. I was cool. I was not scared nor was I too excited. I like to face camera. If I perform well then whoever sees it will be happy!"
Since he has been on air close to a month now the feedback appears to be positive. [ha hahahahaha]. " People have begun to call me. They give me wishes Everybody is happy. Rajeev is a good actor and he brought Sujal to this place, but people have started liking me!" says Gurpreet smiling away.
He's one gutsy , confident guy willing to fight back constant and inevitable comparison with Rajeev . He is convinced one day he will prove his detractors wrong. " I don't think there should be any comparison because everyone is unique. I can't be Rajeev and Rajeev can't be Gurpreet. I don't think there should be any comparison b/w him and me. I have never thought about how ppl will compare me 2 him. I am confident that those very ppl who only want to see Rajeev will start liking me as well!" he declares.
But certainly a lot of preparation must have gone into preparing for the big role! We're curios about the the much hyped nose job he got done solely because the makers wanted him to resemble Rajeev? He sighs, " It was a small rectification. I was thinking about doing it for a long time. And co-incidentally, they asked me to get one and it happened. They just wanted me to look better. They said, 'play yourself'- I was told that I was not supposd to do what he did but stick to the characteristics of Sujal !" he grins.
How has the experience been shooting with the cast ? " I'm a newcomer for them. Just like a new member in a family. They all were very cooperative," replies Gurpreet.
Poor guy, he seems to be under the impression that he's been taken into the fold by the big happy family but the truth as we discovered is something else. He's facing the firing squad just for stepping into Rajeev's shoes. How is Gurpreet going to face the pressure of being Sujal? Will he fit the bill? Will the serial continue to grab the same TRPS that it did during the Rajeev-era? We'll have to wait and watch!………
