How has it been playing Sujal for the last year?
Actually, it's been more than a year. I have not only stepped into Rajeev Khandelwal's shoes but I've also changed the shoe size. I've thrown out the old pair and got myself a new pair. The character is so popular that I got noticed in a matter of days. It was a huge challenge and I think I stood up to it.

Since when have you had issues with Aamna?
From day one she's had issues with me. My biggest problem is that she never accepted me as Sujal. She would constantly boss me around, give me instructions on what to do, how to stand, how to deliver my lines and other things that should have been told to me by my director. I think I am answerable to Ekta Kapoor and no one else. She created Sujal, so whatever the character is today goes to her credit. Why should anyone else throw weight around and instruct me about how to act. Who is Aamna to teach me acting?

Is it true that she has stopped talking to you on the sets?
Let me clear this once and for all. I have stopped interacting with her and it isn't the other way around. It was very confusing for me to figure out who the director on the set was. That's why, in front of the entire crew, I told Aamna to talk to the production house if she had issues with me. I would rather concentrate on acting than let someone boss me around. She says I am trying to get publicity by using her name, but I think Balaji and my character are enough to get me all the attention I need. I never said she has ruined me, I meant she had created problems for me outside the production house. She is too small a person to affect me.

But don't you think these problems will affect your show and the ratings?
I know the show has a huge fan following and is watched worldwide. But how does one carry on acting when your co-star refuses to co-operate with you? I have worked with many senior actors on the show and they never ill-treat me. There is only one person who creates troubles for me and that is Aamna Shariff. Her comments not only hurt me but also lower my morale on the sets.

Why are you reacting so late?
I am a media-shy person. I don't like to talk about small things. But I won't take personal attacks lying down. I wish Aamna would move on in life and never look back. I'm often asked why I don't make any personal appearances outside the show. But Sujal and Kashish have to go together. How can I do anything if my co-star is misbehaving with me?

Also I want to add that intially when the show began I was like a student joining a new school. I was ragged to the core in the beginning. There was someone from the unit who didn't want me on the show. He went and told Ekta how bad an actor I am. I still survived, because I wanted to prove my critics wrong.

Is the show going off air?
Neither Aamna nor me have the right to comment on this. She should stop deciding the future of KTH. It is Ekta who makes the decisions, not her.
