Jaipur, Ajmer, and Alwar have churned out a lot of television actors and the list seems to be increasing by the day. Juhi Parmar, who plays Kumkum in Kumkum â Ek Pyaara Sa Bandhan, was one of the few girls to come to Mumbai to start her acting career. Mention Rajasthan to these actors and they start chatting about their best memories and favourite delicacies. Actress Juhi Parmar says, "I like everything about Rajasthan, especially my hometown Jaipur. It's very colourful and you get the best of clothes and jewellery there." The star who came to the city of dreams, Mumbai, for work has ultimately begun staying here right now. Actor Rajiv Paul who also to came to Mumbai to make his career said, "My home is Ajmer in Rajasthan. I love my city, because my family stays there. Also my friends freak out with me whenever I visit my hometown." Though most of the actors who came from Rajasthan, came here with the intention of trying their luck in this industry, actresses like Smita Bansal who belong to Jaipur came to Mumbai for a holiday and her holidays are still going on! She said, "I lived in Jaipur. I came to Mumbai ten years ago on a holiday, but it's like an unending holiday for me." The star who hails from Rajasthan does not stop talking about its culture and heritage. Rajiv enjoys eating Dal Baati Churma (yellow dal with a roll of baked atta with lots of ghee on it) and pakoras which are also a favourite of actress Smita Bansal. Actress Sakshi Tanwar who came five years ago to Mumbai reminisces about her life in her hometown. She said, "When it comes to my hometown, I just cherish all those lovely moments when I was staying at Alwar. People from Rajasthan are honest and open-hearted. What I like about the state is that it is rich in tradition and culture. I appreciate Rajasthanis for their honest nature, they are open hearted. As far as traditional food is concerned, I love Kalakand (milk cake), which is quite famous in Jaipur." Rajiv is proud of the fact that, "Rajasthan has one of the most famous Brahma temples in the world and also the Mayo College that was built by the Britishers." All of them get royal treatment now whenever they go to their hometowns in Rajasthan because they have become known faces. Sakshi reveals, "These days, I visit my city secretly because whenever I am there, lots of people come to see me and that too at 6.30 am which is when their day begins. I remember my parents one day put a board saying milneka samay khatam hua. (Time for meeting is over)." But the experience is not the same with other celebrities, Juhi Parmar says, "The people in Jaipur still treat me in the same way, but of course they are proud of me." |
