I won't do it Ek akeyla Rajeev Sudhanshu Khandelwal Pandey Sudhanshu Pandey (ex-Band of Boys) has signed B P Singh and Pradeep Uppur's ambitious project, which will hit the small screen on Sony in July. Rajeev Khandelwal had turned down the role in the show, tentatively titled Akeyla. Now, producer Fireworks is toying with other names, and shooting begins in the first week of April. The show will be a one-hour weekly. Says Yash Patnaik, supervising producer, Fireworks, "It is going to be one of the biggest shows on television. It's a thriller, with supernatural elements." No dates Patnaik says Pandey was offered this role last year. "He had done a one-off episode for CID then. We liked his performance immensely. But he didn't have dates. We didn't go ahead with the project immediately. We were working at it to make it better. Then recently, Sudhanshu did a cameo in CID Special Bureau. We spoke to him again, and this time, he showed great enthusiasm." "I wasn't keen on committing to television then," says Sudhanshu. "Secondly, I was shooting for films. I needed to make up my mind." Rajeev's dilemma Why did Khandelwal refuse? Says Patnaik, "When Rajeev did CID for us, we thought he fitted the role perfectly. We met him a few times and had story sessions. Initially, he was very excited. But after Time Bomb, Rajeev was sceptical about doing something other than an emotional love story like Kahiin To Hoga. We realised that he was uncomfortable and we parted amicably. Though he took time, I appreciate his stance." | |
