TFS...Gr8 article! 😃 😉

Remember Tara, Hasratein, Hum Paanch, Shanti n Rajni quite well...was a kid then! 😳 The entire family was a regular viewer n i also remember Zee's 'Parampara', n The Zee Horror Show (more of a Zee Comedy Show.. 😆 ),as well!.. 😊

...n for Sakshi playing Parvati n of course Janki Devi.. 😃...I'm so glad Ekta made sure Sakshi said "YES" to playing Parvati n Thank God Sakshi accepted the role as well.. 😳 ...There could'nt have been a better actor to potray the role as beautifully, brilliantly n powerfully as Sakshi does! 👏 ...Hat's off to Sakshi! 👏 ..She's simply the Best! 😳 ...i've loved the entire journey that Parvati has taken from Sita to Durga n for me Parvati / Janki will always be the most intelligent, practical, independent, superb n powerful character that Ekta has ever created! 👏 👏 👏 ...Kudos to you Ekta! 👏 😃 👏 ...n of course, the fact that Sakshi's playing the chracter, makes it even more special n lovable for me.. 😳 😳 😳 Love Sakshi to bits! 😳 😃 ...Unforgettable! 😃 ...

Cheers

This is going to be a post deviating a bit from the topic. Those were the days when channels used to churn out serials or soaps that were DIFFERENT from each other. True some of them were much ahead of their times. I was very young then but Tara and Banegi Apni Baat and a couple of others come to mind. But the woman was really FORWARD then. I am not endorsing what anyone did or portrayed but it was different.

Unlike the K soaps we have today and the soaps aping the K soaps. Every one of them are exactly alike. Either there is a beti who has to get married or an already married beti with problems in sasural or bahus managing households and the vamps too. In those days the heroines themselves had negative shades which made for interesting characters.

I think Ekta hit a Bullseye with KSBKBT, KGGK and KZK and no wonder Tulsi, Parvati and Prerna found themselves in the memorable women list. However I do wish televisions was going forward and not backwards. Television is this century seems to now be in the medival ages and it was in the 90s when there were womean like Tara or Savi or Renuka Shahane and Sachin something leaving their resp spouses (whatever that serial was). I remember Rajni which was way back in the 80s punishing all the goverment officials taking out morchas whatever being very realistic but today's housewife runs around with a gun in her purse. Half of the women arent educated though good at heart are then suddenly shown running companies.

I guess Jassi was the only recent different serial. True it had the beti angle but the the main focus was that of a girl who is intelligent but awkward. True it went flat after she blossomed into a swan, it should have ended then and there. Tulsi, Prerna and Parvati were novelties when they first appeared on screen.

If there is even one single different show that poor show would flop majorly. If there has to be a change every show would have to change. I wish Ekta would give us a Tara someday. She is actually a good tv serial maker knows how to really grab the attention of the audience with the skyrocketing TRPs But I guess it is all about giving the audiences what they want. And as the entire audience is composed of saas, bahus and betis well I think I have made my point.

i dont remember other shows but i remember watching tara n hum panch.tara was a very good show n Renuka Sahane also did a great job in Kora Kagaz.I like her acting.i agree with u Nandini that those old serials r different than saas bahu shows n i also liked Jassi n it did aklso well but that doesnt mean Saas Bahu shows are bad.Ya most of them look alike but still the
actors like Saakshi Smriti n Shweta made the show different.

My fav serial used to be Hasratein that had a lovely story line to it...the characters were well set they had strong emotions the whole star cast was amazing.

Another serial should have been there too... Koshish Ek Asha cos Sandhya Mridul was fabulous in that... 😛

I remember watching 'HUM PAANCH'.Accoeding to me,it was one of the best comedy serials indian tv has ever seen.No doubt their were others like sarabhai vs sarabhai, office office, but for some reason i never loved them as hum paanch. And yeah koshish ek asha was another brilliant serial.I really wish ekta makes some serials like these.Maybe women in today's serial may be the same, but or some reason they have managed to strike a chord with the audience. Its seems rather funny that in serials more than than the protagonist, the negative lead comes across as much stronger woman.I loved tara too,but i can't deny that the popularity which characters like prerna ,tulsi and paravati managed to get is simply unmatachable.Thier respective shows like kzk, ksbkbt and kggk along with kbc gave a new lease of life to india televion which was slowly fading into oblivion due to immense popularity of cinmea. But see, today they are probably even more popular than most of the bolly bandwagon 😆 😆 .

Aw, nostalgia 😳 Hum Paanch, Dekh Bhai Dekh, Koshish Ek Aasha, Tara, Hasratein, Amanat, Parampara, Malgudi Days, Mahabharata - these were the shows of my youth 😳 Today's television is sadly lacking in quality; the actors are great, but they are being forced to do the same naatak in each show....where's the creative satisfaction?

I know! somehow the quality has taken a backseat.I really don't blame kyunki, kahaani or any other family dramas or this. The problem lies with the makers who just copied and riuned this beautiful concept of family drama.earlier family dramas(basically ksbskt, kggk started this trend),dealt with family relationships not unlike today were the family dramas have been reduce dto nothing more than a extra marital affair, mursers, bomb blasts and what not.Just see the difference in kzk seven years back and seven years now.On the contrary,we have to accept that things keep changing.Earlier people use to love these shows and whn people got bored of them,saas-bahu serials came and ruled the roost, bcoz at that time they were different from the other programmes. Now see people sre getting fed up of these shows ans want to see something. No wonder shows like bmtd, saath phere, bidaayi are gaining popularity bcoz their story line is bit different, reality shows are becoming an obssesion.I remember hum paanch and buniyaad were revived, but they failed miserably. The preerences have changed. What my mom likes to watch, may be despised by me and vice-versa.Today their are hunderds of channels and variety of generes for audience to choose.I do miss these programmes, but can;t help myself from admitting that saas-bahu serials did what IT sector did to indian economy,it helped indian tv to get that international popularity and fame it deserves,to the extent even placing it ahead of bolly in popularity.I still beleive that hum paanch and koshish ek asha are ekta's best work till date, but even today,if given a choice audience prefers watching unrealistic and masala stuff and if our seril makers can provide them that through serials and reality shows, then who cares!Actors are making crores of rupees, getting their share of fame. what else they need?
