I totally agree with you could you imagine if ekta mai had a homosexuality track in kggk or kyunki "Shiv Sena" and "Bajrang Dals" 😡🤪would have a field day with the issue and probably go and destroy balaji sets and offices 😆 but there is no harm in experimenting with an aids track as it would be educational😉 for masses

Well, its different in the UK...you have gay storylines in Hollyoaks or other soaps. And they are more widely accepted, though of course you will always get the section of people who oppose it.

But the majority of people who watch these Indian soaps in India aren't the type of people who take to such issues with ease; even the Kyunki euthanasia issue created hungama when it aired. People are afraid of change, and they are afraid of everything that isn't "normal". It's sad, but even though people complain about how 'regressive' these shows are (in general, everyone I meet who watches these shows has this opinion), but they don't actually have the temperament to accept something progressive.

ppl do care about their repuatation and what others think of them in india cuz of self-respect, urge/pressure to fit-in the social specrtrum , and sometimes fear of being casted as an outsider or mis-fit. 😭 thankfully slowly but surely as indian society becomes more educated and less ignorant and more aware it will be come more sophisticated and classy

Well, I'd say people care about their reputation regardless of where they live 😕 It's not about reputation - it's about tolerance.

I think the best way to bring out HIV, would be to build up a character we all love, and then they reveal they have the disease, and show they're still the same person they were before.

They also need to learn how HIV can be transmitted, people think by touching someone you get it, it's not it's unprotected sex. So people don't wanna talk about HIV, but they don't mind doing the "shameful deed" that passes the disease *sigh*

See, they did that in Sanjivani with the character of Dr. Omi Joshi, but while Sanjivani was as popular as any Balaji show on the best of days...I don't know whether it made much difference or had that much impact with the audience. Change takes time, and with a country as large as India is....it takes a hell of a lot of time.
