Chapter 36

"hello" adi muttered as he rolled lazily in bed.

A: what!!! He anxiously got up.

A: I'm coming right now!

Adi hurriedly got up and wore his shirt. He quickly exited the room leaving a thakyou note to who ever it was who took him to this room and let his rest the night here. He rushed into his car and drove home.

M: I can't believe this guy!! Maithili muttered under her breath as she sat down to have her mehendi put on…

M: stupid!! He's supposed ot be here for the mehendi ceremony, not in some hotel room suffering from a hangover!!

As soon as maithili said that, Adi came rushing into Bajaj mansion. He was dressed in a sherwani, which made maithili laugh.

Adi slowly walked to maithili.

A: what are you laughing at?

M: you…you're wearing a sherwani!

A: and???

M: how did mayuri mamma convince you to wear one!??

A: don't ask!

Adi was about to leave when he saw something and grinned.

He sat back down next to maithili and put his arm round her.

M: uh adi…are you still drunk??

A: what do you mean?

M: last night, you were drunk, and…uh…you started kissing me..

A: what!!! Adi said getting up

M: yeah..i know…at the party…umm…just..just don't do that again..

A: but I can't remember..

Adi muttered as he slowly sat down..

A: i..i didn't Say anything to you, did I?

M: uh no…you just grabbed me and kissed me…

A: uh where?

M; on my…my neck…maithili said, not a deep shade of red….and my cheek…

A: oh…well atleast I did it! I mean you wouldn't want some jerk to be th efirst person to kiss you!

Maithili frowned: fyi! You're not ht efirst person to have kissed me!!

A: haha! Yes I am!

M; no!! I've been on dates before!!

A; oh..yeah sure! Aid said clearly showing sarcasim

M: shut up!!! She yelled

Adi grinned and snuggled close to her again.

M: what are you doing!!! She hissed

A: nothing!

Maihtili saw adi whisper something into the lady's ear and she smiled.

The lady continued putting mehendi on maithili's hands.

Adi got up and went away. Maithili looked at h ebeautiful design on her hands an dsmiled, but she couldn't make out what it exactly was. She stared hard trying ot figure out what it was, Until she called Mallishka to see.

Mall: oh that's sooo beautiful!! I wish I'd done it when I was getting married!

M: yes but what..

Mall: A-D-I…adi!! You've got adi's name on your hands in such lovely designs.

Maithili gasped and looked at adi in shock

Adi grinned at her and winked.

Maihtili was not going to have this!

She got up and ran upstairs, with adi following behind her.

She went into her room to the bathroom and was about ht eturn on th etap when adi pulled her by her waist.

A: And what do you think you are doing?

M: rubbing your name of my hands!!

A: oh but I won't let you do that honey!

M; shut-it!! I want your name off my hands!!

A: but that's impossible! My name's already written In your destiny! You can't rub It off your hands!

M: watch me!

A: oh I will..

Maithili struggled ot get out of adi's arms, but the more she struggled, the tighter her held on to her.

New tactics!! Come on maithili..think!!

Maihtili slowly turned round..

She placed her arms round adi's neck, careful not to let any mehendi soil his clothes.

She brought her face close to him, so close that their lips almost brushed..

Adi was taken aback, he didn't expect this response from her, so he did the only thing he thought logical and tightened his grip round her.

Her nose caressed his cheek and her lips brushed his ear.

Adi grew weak in the knees loosened his grip ever so slightly and in that moment, maithili pushed him away with her elbows and reached for th esink. Hse stopped suddenly when she realised her dupatta slipping and her zip being undone.

She turned round looking shocked at adi..

A: lady! I'm the expert at this! He said slowly removing her dupatta and wrapping it round his arm.

A: you wash the mehendi off, and you'll have to go back down without your chunari, with your blouse half undone!

He smirked and maithili glared at him.

M: I hate you!!!

A: I know!!!

He said winking at her.

Uggh! He annoyed her to such an extent, she felt like pullin gher hair off. And that grin on his face, she felt like slapping him left right left and wiping git off his face.

He slowly came towards her and went behind her. Placing the chuni on her and zipping her blouse up, he turned her round.

He pulled her very close to him. Maithili grew a little apprehensive. She wanted to run away, but she couldn't.

M: wh..what are you doing?

Adi stared at her compelling her ot look straight into his eyes..

His stubbled cheek brushed against her soft flesh as he grabbed her into his arms.

The next thing she felt angered her.

"umma umma umma!!!!" aid pretended placing kisses on her shoulder while abruptly shaking the living day lights out of her.

Maihtili began thumping his chest with her elbows.

M; let go you freak!!! She yelled as he retreated…

A: that hurt!! He whined

M: you!!!! you stupid donkey!! Monkey!! Chimpanzee!! You!!! I HATE YOU!!!
adi laughed even more at the insults he received from his wife-to be…

M: aaargh!! Maithili stomped out of the bathroom and went down.

Maihtili came into the hall and sat down to let her parents and other old ladies admire her mehedi as she cursed under her breath.

She wondered where adi was until she heard a distinctly femiliar voice boom through the speakers. She turned round to see Adi singing and dancing. "oh no…" she muttered… "he's really drunk…"

Both danced closely to each other, sometimes stepping on each others toes and tugging at each other – sometimes pushing each other and sometimes pulling. The way they danced amused the audience and they thought of the couple as 'cute'.

Maithili finally went up to her room and got changed into her red bridal lehenga. She adorned herself in jewellery and sighed at herself in the mirror.

It was funny how she always dreamed of being in this dress, looking like the most beautiful girl in the whole world at that moment, but now she wished otherwise.

She couldn't believe her fate. She had hated adi for all her life and would probably continue doing so, but now she was expected to fall into his arms and love him.

She felt a hand touch her shoulder and she turned to look at her two mothers.

M: beta…I know what we have asked of you is very big, but now you are going to get married to Adi, and beta I want you to give him another chance

S: beta, marriage is a huge step in a women's life as it means that she forever becomes her husbands and her husband becomes hers. Please beta, forget everything and start afresh…start a new life from this day on..

Maithili had a little tear in her eye which she wiped away before shruti or mayuri could see it. Hse got u and hugged bother of them

Ma: I promise mamma, I'll give Adi and myself another chance…I'll give our relation and other chance…

Both hermothers smiled and took her downstairs.

Maihtili sat in the mandap and continued with the ceremonies. Adi sat beside her, muttering the chants.

Both had to hold heac others hands and put the ghee in the sacred fire. Both of them got up for ht eseven pheras and then sat back down. Adi bent over and put sindoor in her maang and mangal sutra in her neck.

They got up and signed the actual documents of marriage….

Maithili closed her eyes. From this moment on, she was no longer Maihtili Bajaj…she was Maithili Vikram-Aditya Mehra.
