Chapter 24

Adi woke up early in the morning and glanced over to watch, just watching Maithili, as she lay asleep. She truly looked like an angel, even in her sleep. He sat on the bed beside her and smiled. He slightly placed her hair back and gently kissed her forehead.

A slight knock was heard on the door…

A: saala!! Aagaya Prithvi!!!

Adi rolled his eyes and opened the door..

A: what do you want???

Adi asked rather rudely…

And Prithvi did indeed stand before him

P: i..its 10…

A; so???

P: I've come to talk to maithili…

A: well…she's sleeping…

P: oh! Let me just see..

A: no no!! adi said pushing Prithvi out…

But Prithvi slipped through to see no one on the bed…

P: ha!!! I knew it!! I knew you and maithili were never engaged!!!

Adi looked confused himself..

Just then, the bathroom door opened and maithili came out…

She hugged adi from behind rested her head on his back..

M: Oh! Prithvi!! She said distancing herself from adi..i didn't know you were here…

Prithvi looked annoyed and adi smirked…

He slipped his hand round maithili's waist..

A: darling..prithvi doesn't believe we are engaged…he keeps coming into or room to check on us..

Prithvi's anger grew and he stormed out the door

Maithili and adi burst out laughing after the door shut..

A: darling…

Adi said putting his arm foreword..

M; yes my fianc!!

Maithili said linking her arm in his..

Both continued laughing until they realised what they were doing..

A: oh..i…

M; I know…we…

A: get dressed…we have to see the location, then were going back in the afternoon..

Adi was about to leave when he heard maithili laugh..

A: what happened?

M: you..you can't go out like that!

A: what do you mean?

M: you're in you're pyjamas!!

A: so??? Besides..it makes Prithvi all the more jealous!

Adi winked and was off

That afternoon, a sort of truce struck between the two. They sat back in the jeep and hardly argued..

A: what should we tell mom and chachi?

M: I don't know…lets just let this matter be…besides everybody will be so busy in preparing for pranay-mallishka's marriage that they'll forget about us!

A: lets hope so…because I'm having trouble in finding reasons for why you are not fit to be my wife!

M: huh!! I'm not fit??? You're not fit!!! Shakal dekhi hai aaine me??? Bandar ho tum!!!

A: main??? Cockroach toh tum ho!!!

They both start bickering again as they reach home..

M: ENOUGH!!!! That's it!!! It's impossible to be friends with you!!!!

A: mee too!!!! GOOD BYE!!!!

Both go in opposite directions to their own houses.
