I am having one of those moments where I really wish Ekta read these comments😕. Because I would ask her this:

Why are characters always encouraged to fight to keep their cheating husbands?! And the lead positive character (parvati, tulsi, others) is usually encouraging the girls to do so.

OK, I'm exaggerating a little. The lead female doesn't Always encourage women to take back their cheating husband. But it happens often enough to annoy me. 😊

I don't think you are exaggerating ! It is indeed true ! Most of the time, women in serials are encouraged to take back their cheating/abusive husbands. The message here is no matter what the man does, he will always come back and he should be then accepted.

Hi Sonjay and firstly welcome to the Kahaani forum. 😊 Well, u have quite a valid point there... 😃 esp considering that recently in Kyunki, they have shown Tulsi encouraging Archita and Joydeep to take Abhir and Bhumi back 🤢 and actually fight for them... 🤢 but luckily touchwood, they have never shown such a scenario in Kahaani till date. 😃 If ur referring to Maithali and Pranay, well they have not shown Parvati ever encouraging Maithali to take Pranay back... 😉 in fact, when Maithali had given up hope and wanted to leave Agarwal house after giving up her 'mangalsutra', it was Parvati who had blasted her off for having such little self respect and pride and encouraged Maithali to fight Mallishka...👏 👏 👏 not for Pranay but for her own self respect and identity. 👏 👏 👏 Also, the other day when Maithali told Parvati that she intended to teach Pranay a lesson and the day this was done, walk out of his life, 😃 Parvati tells her that she is proud of her... 😃 that was an awesome scene. 👏 👏 👏 Also, throughout Kahaani... 😃 right from the time of Ajay betraying Avantika to Krishna betting away Gunn to Sasha... Parvati has always supported the women of the family... 👏 👏 👏 but ur absolutely right, in many other serials, they have shown husbands being taken back and forgiven... prime example, Mihir being taken back by Tulsi... but Pranay just can't be forgiven... 🤢 truly hope they don't show Maithali going back to him ever...😃 one thing's for sure, Parvati is never gonna support Pranay or even think of ever forgiving him for what he's done with Maithali...😃 she's always been portrayed as a strong, self-respecting and proud woman...👏👏👏 and that's the way it should be...😃 though agree with u that the scenario u described happens in a lot of serials... also agree, that on T.V. which is a very powerful medium today, they should potray women in a powerful light...👏 and I'm glad that at least in Kahaani touchwood, 😃Parvati is shown to be a strong woman who stands up for herself and another's woman's self respect too...😃good post... 👏 👏 👏

I think this is a major flaw in Ekta's serials, her thinking and her portrayal of women. No woman in the REAL world would EVER consider taking back a cheating scumbag like Pranay - who, apart from the cheating, insulted and undermined Mets just because she was a "consequence" of his argument with Shruti and Parvati. No woman with any modicum of self respect would decide - or encourage their daughter/d-i-l - to do what Archita has been encouraged by Tulsi to do. Real women are women like Ganga, who walked out on Sahil because he cheated on her, he undermined her place in his life. Even Parvati, when she thought that Om had cheated on her with Trishna, decided to break all ties with him. It was only when she discovered that he was innocent that she changed her mind. When Krishna lost Gunn to Sasha in that game of cards, Parvati nearly threw him out of the house - she supported Gunn. In fact, I am so glad that Mets is finally coming to her sense - she MUST fight, like Paro said, but not FOR Pranay, but to teach him that he can't mess up her life and get away with it. I'm glad that she told Adi that this is what she is doing and will walk away from Pranay when its done, and I'm even more glad that Paro has no objections to that.

But why would she? When Paro supported Gunn against Krishna, she also supported Shruti against Aryan. Knowing what he was, she didn't tell Shruti to go back and "change" him - she said to her: You are a human being before you are a wife or a daughter - so do what your self-respect demands of you.

I just can't identify with those women that Ekta portrays as being so mahaan and self-sacrificial - they aren't being sanskaari, they are just being doormats.
