Gautam Chaturvedi, who's still remembered as Gaurav bhaiyya of Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii is back, but this time as a producer. The actor along with three other friends has launched a production house, which has already shot a pilot. So, what made him quit Kahaani...? "I think it got slightly monotonous after a while. I was doing the same character for so many years. I think I couldn't do anything else with the character,' he says. One has to admit that Om and Kamal were the characters that scored over his character. Speaking about this, Gautam says, "I changed four wives in five years," he laughs. Explaining further he says, "See, TV today, is women-oriented and men are only as powerful as the other half. So, if the female character is popular, the actor opposite her benefits from it. That's what happened with Om and Kamal, who played Parvati and Pallavi's husbands, as opposed to Gaurav's character. None of the actresses who took up the role lasted long and hence both the characters were pushed into the background," he says.
So, does that mean, he may be seen in Kahaani once again if his track is revived? "I don't think I am coming back to Kahaani...," he states matter-of-factly. So, will he stay away from saas-bahu sagas? "I don't want to make any tall claims. But yes, I'd like to make serials that would appeal to all sections of the audience. I feel teenagers have nothing to see on television. Also, reality shows is an interesting concept. I am a fan of adventure shows like The Amazing Race, so that's also on my mind," he says.
The actor has come together with his Kahaani... co-star Poorva Gokhale in this new venture. Does that mean he'll be seen in the soaps that he's set to produce? "Not really. The pilot we've shot for doesn't have either me or Poorva, but once things settle down we may act in our serials," he says.
