Recap: Turning his gaze away ignorantly from the scene, he found it retrace it's course⦠Narrowing his eyes, he penetrated through the soft lilac fabric flying in the air⦠the owner's face lost behind liberated strands of silky hairs⦠Suddenly, chaos struck the crowd as people pushed against one another⦠Police officers desperately tried to calm the situation⦠but to no avail. As they brought out the sticks, the gatherers turned more violent⦠The lilac-clad figure held up two bangle-laiden arms, as an aimless strike of a stick came towering afore⦠Unknown to what had overcome him, he felt an urgent rush⦠as could be noticed from the clicking of his shoes against the tiled flooring⦠running⦠like there were no tomorrowā¦
Part 5
It was as though an inexplicable adrenaline rush had overpowered his senses... The calls of the familiar voice of Dheenu Kaka breezed passed... unnoticed... like the fiery current of air brushing his skin while continuing on...
Her eyes instinctively widened in horror as the stick towered over her... Her muscles for some reason failed to respond... and she stood there... closing her eyes... as a minute passed... and another... When the fatal blow never came, she squinted her eyes open... Chaos was everywhere... A nauseous feeling overwhelmed her senses as she extended a hand through her hair⦠struggling to maintain herself on her feet⦠Determined, she desperately gathered the last drops of her strength and pushed⦠each step taxing her energy. The angry cries of frustration encircling her appeared to have suddenly increased; yet to her they had seemed to fade⦠As she continued, the struggle amidst the crowd became more violent. A silent cry escaped her parted lips as pained seared up her leg⦠Curses⦠Falling to the ground, everything before her eyes began to haze⦠A minute passed as the distant cries faded even more⦠when at some point, a voice dared to penetrate the invincible barrier that had slowly grown between her and her surroundings⦠Feeling a pair of firm hands lift her head, she squinted her eyes open with deep effort⦠The face was a blur⦠like that which is captured in mid-movement in a camera⦠distant, yet engraved somewhere in the memory⦠Shifting her eyes, she focused on the lips⦠moving to some rhythm she could not at the moment fathom⦠and then looked back to the eyes⦠the only feature which appeared to be clear⦠familiar⦠As everything turned to darkness, she felt a pair of secure arms take hold of her⦠"Ahhdiā¦" she breathed⦠Darknessā¦.

As the darkness gave way to the light⦠she stirred gently⦠squinting her closed eyes in irritation⦠Unknowingly, her hands took hold of the white fabric⦠scrunching it into a ball⦠Slowly, she opened her eyes to the strangely familiar sight⦠The deep crimson and soft creams of the room welcomed her with soothing warmth⦠while the warm rays of the afternoon sun let the comfort soak through⦠Lifting a hand to her loosely pulled back tresses, she momentary closed her eyes⦠and re-opened them to the same⦠As her hands fumbled aimlessly around her, the realization slowly came forth⦠"Ab kaisa lag raha hai?" (How are you feeling now?)⦠For a moment, she dared not lift her eyes⦠the rough yet somehow endearing voice registered⦠Looking up⦠a strange dread creased her face⦠yet there was an odd glitter⦠of something she could not recall ever before experiencing⦠Something like the feeling of coming upon a reservoir of heavenly water in the midst of scorching desert sands⦠It was as though she had almost been savouring the same voice⦠Squinting her eyes, she re-opened them and looked up⦠trying to push away the foreign thoughts. "Ahhdiā¦?" Immediately, she regretted opening her mouth⦠It was something she couldn't explain⦠but it seemed that every time she spoke it, it lingered somewhere in her⦠The soft hazel eyes grazed her presence accompanied with a small smile. The gentle current blissfully blew through the cracks⦠a few locks of hair dancing to its rhymthic tune⦠caressing her cheek⦠Swallowing, she looked around and opened her mouth to speak, determined to keep her composure. "Main yahanā¦?" (How did Iā¦?) From the corner of her eyes, she could see his relaxed posture leaning against the doorframe shift⦠the previously crossed arms now hung loose to the sides, while his hands hid into the pockets of the faded denim. A tanned jacket accompanied the white polo stretching against the hidden bulk. Her gaze shifted to the black shoes neatly polished⦠now making their way towards her⦠She suddenly felt uncomfortable and went to stand up, when the pull on her arm made her stop. "Maithali, its ok⦠tum aram karoā¦" (Maithali, its ok⦠you should take restā¦)⦠As he sat casually next to her, she felt as though undergoing an interrogation⦠arrested in the other's eyes. Shifting nervously, she pushed back into the pillow, stiffly keeping her knees close to her chest. "Wohe⦠tum⦠" (Um⦠youā¦) he began with a note of uncertainty⦠as though having magically lost speech⦠Shaking his head ever so slightly, he continued⦠"Tum bheed mein gir gayi teeh, aur ittefaq se maine tumhe dekh liyaā¦" (You had fallen in the crowd, and by coincidence I happened to be there...) Much to her surprise, she noticed the tone of his voice lower with each word⦠She looked at him, piercing into the nothingness ahead, and then turn to face her. A faint smile garnished his lips, as he got up, filling his pant pockets with his hands once more⦠as one does when perhaps they are trying to hide their tremble. Turning towards the door, he moved to exit⦠Stopping a mere step away⦠he turned his head to the side⦠and then turned again to face her⦠His footsteps echoed in her mind as she consciously lowered her gaze. She could feel him, standing next to her⦠now bending his body enough so that his lips were mere inches from her quivering lips. Suddenly, she looked up⦠as the carelessly held locks came cascading down⦠to the joy of the ever-present breeze⦠She didn't know what it was, but something fluttered within her⦠as the tall figure disappeared into the shadows beyond the door of the room⦠closing with a soft "clickā¦"ā¦

He was fully aware of her reading right through the file in hand while Janki Devi towered before him⦠her lips moving to things he failed to comprehend⦠Upon his antics, he had stumbled upon the fact that the lady afore was his mother's mother⦠Not blood-related, but their bonding was perhaps greater than that of those who claimed to be born into such relations. Coincidence or not, she had also been at the scene of the revelation⦠He had come to respect her and been awed by Parvati Agarwal's persona⦠her drive⦠her family⦠her love⦠Despite years, Om breathed in her soul⦠She stood like a rock, but had the capacity to melt othersā¦
He continued to stare at the elegant lady with blankness written over his face⦠his eyes occasionally alluding to the other woman in the room. Curses⦠It had been weeks now, and he couldn't understand why she was constantly in his thoughts⦠why every time a door creaked, he expected her⦠why his ears strained for that soft melodious voice⦠The familiar anger threatened to serge through him once more⦠It hadn't helped that in some way or another, fate had always brought her in front of him⦠His thoughts were interrupted as the authorative, yet calm voice penetrated through⦠He looked up startled, "Ji Maa⦠mera matlab Ma'am" Her firmness seemed to have dissipated as the words reverbrated against eh walls⦠The kohled eyes haunting him, now looked up in surprise as well⦠Parvati Agarwal now seemed to be contemplating a smile, which eventually lit up on her face⦠Stepping around the glass table, she came afore him. He looked curiously at the hand now resting affectionately on his right cheek⦠"Tumhara matlab toh shayad tum khud hi nahin jaanteā¦" (Perhaps even you do not realize what you meanā¦). His gaze shifted towards his grandmother's face⦠a mischievous glint furthering his curiosity emitted from her eyesā¦
***
She stared at the clock⦠the big hand resting half-way between the five and six, while the small one sat somewhere near the two⦠Her gaze then shifted towards the window⦠the night grew deeper with each "tickā¦" Lingering on the extraordinarily bright moon, she was brought out of her thoughts once more by the tap against the door⦠There was an urgency in it's done⦠almost a desperation⦠She got out of her bed, setting aside the book in hand. She had of late, a great difficulty in sleeping and had attempted various resources to aid her⦠the latest of which was reading. Curses⦠who could it be at this hour⦠The thought was overwhelmed by curiosity and more prominently, a fear⦠as her eyes fell upon the bold frame leaning against the doorframeā¦
