The toughest roles on TV
Ali Asgar Let me think. Quite some time back, in 1998-1999, there was a serial called Itihaas by Balaji Telefilms. I was playing the role of a don in that. Now just imagine me as an underworld don, and you will know how difficult it was for me to portray that character! At that point in time, I was doing a number of comedy roles and wanted to specialize in them. Thanks to Ekta (Kapoor, head of Balaji Telefilms) that I could do something different and was appreciated a lot for my portrayal of a don's character. Unfortunately, Mr Anand, the director of the show, expired a couple of months back. He was my favourite director.
