Very well analyzed , Reshmi. I think everyone was justified to an extent in acting the way they did in the heat of the moment. Rohit’s frustration and blaming Sona was understandable, him keeping at it was irritating but Sona seemed to get it that Rohit was just venting unreasonably and in anger. He does gain some measure of control over himself and shuts up at the Rastogi house.
I totally agree that Pari was not after Rohan for his money, doesn’t make what she did less despicable but I don’t think she is a gold digger, she is hot headed, has a vengeful streak in her, is selfish to the core but money was not what she was after.
Also true that Suman’s character has been considerably softened from the initial portrayal of her. She chastises Pari more, is more caring of Sona, and has overall been made palatable for the audience.
Btw, Pari is the one who alludes to Rohan’s string of affairs prior to her. Tanya was going to expose Rohan and Pari publicly and that would not have been less of a tamasha. It just got averted by Tanya’s heartbreak at seeing that video so it would have been a Sippy that humiliated the Sippys by washing their dirty linen in public.
Suman, in her defense, was not specific with her taunts but the moment the great Naren Sippy called the guards to throw her out is when her vitriol came gushing out.
Rohit stopped questioning Rohan not because Rohan asked him to stop but because Sona stopped Rohit by cautioning him to talk later.
in Sona’s defense, she did try to tell Rohit about the blackmailer, he was too lost in his nervousness about the surgery and instead of adding to his worries, Sona decided to handle it herself. Things have been unraveling too fast, she hasn’t had time to digest about Ajit’s gambling habit to tell Rohit about it. She forgave Rohit in the blink of an eye, no questions asked when she found out the truth about Rani. She stood staunchly by his side at the hospital when Rani tried to instigate her. Sona is a nice person, too much in love and a tad bit too idealistic, therein don’t lie her flaws. Her flaw is her compulsion to please Veena and be a perfect bahu which leads her to interfere in situations she should stay far away from. Rohit is not wrong in his POV either just a bit too impulsive with his words.
The only person I felt was not justified in her actioins was Veena. Don’t get me wrong, Veena is sweet and kind and is the glue that binds the Sippy family. But her rushing to berate Pari, slapping her twice and accusing Pari of being unable to contain her raging hormones and being a cheap gold digger was not warranted as Veena had not yet accosted her own creep of a son and had not chastised him for his grave sin. Her son had strayed in spite of being married after knowing he was to soon become a dad. The guy is shameless, tells Pari he doesn’t care, he still loves her and won’t let her go, he tells Rohit not to question him. Rohan is cheap, he plots and snares young vulnerable girls - his friend had warned him, Tanya had questioned him, he himself had seen the tracker but he shamelessly carries on. With such a son, Veena was wrong in assuming butter will not melt in Rohan’s mouth ‘cos of her faultless parvarish.
I still hold by what I had written yesterday, glad the Sippy’s’ truth was brought to light. I saw no one standing up for Sona when that friend of Naren’s was talking crap about Sona’s character. She had to defend herself, Veena did not open her mouth.
Deepa gives me the creeps sometimes, she was seen to be envious of the love and attention Sona was getting from Veena. She has slapped Pari too. Deepa could have disclosed the truth to the family and nipped the affair in the bud, she didn’t, instead she plots alongside of Tanya to do a public expose of Pari. The Sippys are so protective of Puja and even pay a woman to come act as her mother but they care two hoots about Pari’s reputation, airing the video in front of their friends at the party would have further ruined Pari’s (maybe nonexistent?) reputation.
I would say the Sippys got what was coming to them. Truth will out somehow and it did.
