...are completely wrong in my opinion. But sadly, many Indian women think the same way because they have been conditioned to do so from a young age. They don't even see anything wrong with the demand to give up their job because words like adjust and compromise are constantly thrown at them. I don't think any Indian men grow up with these words in their vocabulary.
But giving up your job is no minor adjustment, it is a major change in one's life and Sona is stupid to even consider it especially just to please a narrow minded idiot. I wonder if any man has ever been asked to give up his job or change his profession by his in-laws because they didn't find it suitable and they are worried about what people will say. Who decides what is suitable and what isn't? So being a doctor is a noble and respectable profession but an actress job is not worthy of respect?
Sona talked about how she felt bad that her family was getting affected by her job. Again, conditioning ..women are conditioned to put others ahead of themselves esp after marriage. When will they ever learn to give priority to their own needs and desires?
I expected better from her...she has such a strong and fierce example of womanhood in her mother, who has done so much on her own as a single mother and doesn't take crap from anybody. But no, she wants to let go of her position that she has worked so hard for, in her desire to be loved and accepted by every single person in the Sippy household. As a much married woman, I can tell you, this love and acceptance from every single family member never happens. It's just not possible. There will be some people that you have issues with or they have issues with you. You ignore it and move on. You don't go around making major sacrifices to make things easier. Because it will start with one thing, and continue to other things and it never ends.
If they don't show Sona getting back to work, that will be a terrible message sent by this show.
