My first thought was the same. But then I realized Rohit made a smart move.

Rohit knew he wasn't going to have the right answer. What he was looking out for instead, was what kind of reaction he was going to get. Imo, given the situation, I think Rohit's abrupt and in-your-face question was to get the man off-guard. Rohit was studying him to see what kind or expression/reaction he has as a result. Which is exactly what will give Rohit a clue and make him suspicious in the next episode perhaps.

But actually I thought what he did was right. When you least expect something you tend to do something foolish when the same thing is thrown at you. So I guess that guy is going to lead our dearest intelligent hero to Mhatre😎
