Part 5

The moon and stars emitted their light and Kali looked at the beauty of the night. Yug entered the room. The whole day, Kali had been quiet. He had decided to give her some time, so hadn't spoken to her much. But her silence was making him restless. He wanted to know what she was thinking. He wanted to know more about her. He wanted to be with her.

She looked at him and smiled.

"Hume neend aa rahi hai, hum so jaate hain..." She said.

He nodded. They looked at the bed since both were awkward to share the bed. Yug arranged to pillow dividing the bed into two halves. Kali looked at him in gratitude and lied on the bed. Yug started completing his office work and after some time, switched off the lights went to sleep.

He heard someone wail, so opened his eyes. In the dim light of his mobile, he saw that Kali was crying. Not understanding what was happening, he thought of waking her up.

"Manjimaa, Manjimaa..." Kali started murmuring in her sleep, sobbing. Yug understood that she was remembering Manjimaa. In sleep, she held his hand. Yug realized that she was trembling. He removed the pillows and lied a little closer to her, because if he had removed his hand out of her grip, she would have woken up. He patted her head gently till she calmed down. Then he too slept.

Kali woke up next morning, to feel her head on something hard. "How can a pillow be so hard?" was the first question that come up to her mind. Then she opened her eyes and was speechless.

Her head was resting on Yug's chest and his lips almost touched her forehead. She couldn't move too, since Yug was hugging her. She kept staring at Yug. He looked like a small sleeping baby. She smiled softly seeing him so calm. She moved a little, hoping that this doesn't disturb Yug, but Yug woke up. He opened his eyes only to look into Kali's shocked ones. He felt a weird attraction and he kept staring at her.

She looked a bit relaxed after a good sleep, with her hair untied and no jewelry, she looked more beautiful. Her eyes, like those of a baby, looked in his, trying to think of a way to get out.

Kali felt the world stop and butterflies in her tummy. With his hair ruffled and confusion of his face, he looked at her... and this gave her an unknown calmness...made her feel better... She wanted the moment to just stop, the time to just hold...

But that didn't happen. They heard his mobile ring so Yug broke the hug. Kali immediately got down from the bed and rushed to cupboard. Hiding her face behind the cupboard's door, she blushed. Yug switched off the alarm and went to sleep, or at least, he pretended to do so.

He kept thinking about Kali and her past, about her present and wondering how he could help her secure her future...But he couldn't think for long, as he heard the doorbell ring. Since Kali was freshening up, he opened the door for Gauri and Yash.

"Good Morning Bhai," Yash said chirpily as he entered. Gauri followed him in the room.

"Bhai, hum aaj todhi shopping karne challenge, so we are taking Kaali along, is that fine with you?"

"Agar Kali tum logo ke saath jaana chahti hai, then I am completely fine with it." Yug said nonchalantly.

"Kaali humare saath aayegi, that's not the point, the point is, will you send her?" Gauri asked.

Yug stared at her for a few seconds and then sighed. Knowing Gauri from what Kali had told him, expecting her to respect Kali's wishes was next to imagining something impossible.

Kali came out of the washroom and Yash invited her for shopping. Yug agreed to join them, much to Yash's surprise and Kali's happiness.

"Aap? aur shopping?" Yash asked him in shock. Yug shrugged.

"Lagta hai kisika jaadu chad gaya hai Yug par," Gauri said and winked. Kali tucked some hair behind her ear awkwardly, while Yug threw a sharp glance at Yash. Yash signalled Gauri to keep quiet.

After breakfast, they went to the shopping mall. Yash and Gauri were busy in their romance, while Yug and Kali just tagged along. Kali stopped infront of a shop, and Yug too stopped. He saw that Kali was looking at a pink evening gown, draped around a mannequin, in a shop in awe.

"Like it?" He asked.

Kali looked at him and nodded in a no.

"Bas Gauri ke liye dekh rahe the," She turned and started walking. Yug sighed, knowing the reason why she didn't express her desire to buy the dress.

Kali realized that Yug wasn't with her, so exited the shop, where she was shopping for Gauri only to bang into Yug.

"Kahaan the aap?" She asked, in a hyper tone.

"Relax, bas ek friend mila tha, usse baat kar raha tha,"

She nodded. They continued shopping for some time. Gauri started cribbing about the weather, so Yug decided to go back to the hotel.

They were greeted by the manager, who invited them to a party at the hotel in the evening.

"Mam and Sir, you all are cordially invited to a party held here, to celebrate the owner, Mr. Sighania's daughter marriage anniversary. We would be glad to have you at the party."

He handed Yug the invite, who nodded in a yes.

"Party!" Gauri said in excitement.

"Kaali, chalo humare saath, hume tayyar hona hai and as you know, Gauri Jha loves to be perfect..."

"It's Gauri Chaudhary now," Kali reminded her.

Gauri ignored her and went to the lift. Habitual to her behaviour, Kali followed her, but Yug felt angry.

"Yash, this is so not done, maana ki Gauri-Kali sisters nahi hai. But your wife should at least respect her as a human yaar."

Yash looked at him shock.

"I know everything," Yug replied.

"I'll speak to Gauri," Yash said and entered the lift.
