As I said before, I spent the last 2 days re-watching Kaajjal from the beginning (no, I have nothing better to do - classes start on Monday, so I'm just allowing myself some extra relaxation time before hand...). And, I've realized something...
Before, I've said that I can't really say that Kaajjal truly loves Dev and that I think its just a serious crush/infatuation...
Lekin, over the past 2 days, I've watched Kaju's love blossom...and I'd like to take back what I said before...I can now honestly say, that her love is true.
Lets take a trip back in time...
The first episode: Kaajjal uske "rajkumar" ke saath takrati hai....he saves her from falling off of the cliff...he's her night in shining armour and that night, he's all she can think about...
The next day, she finds out that the snobby, stubborn man trying to buy her school is none other than her very own "rajkumar" - the look on her face is priceless here....she can't believe her eyes, and silently, her dreams of the man from from the night before being her true "rajkumar" die that very instat, and she hates him....
From here, during the massouri days, their hatred for one another grows...until, Dev saves Kaju's father....and Kaju realizes that she was wrong, and that maybe Dev really is her night in shining armour. Also, when she realises she was wrong, she sees another side of Dev...and she feels indebted to him - he saved her father's life - even though the two of them were at each others throats...usne hamesha Dev ko galat samjha, and now, she realized that she was always wrong about him. Here, she begins to like him as a person, because he's kind.
Then, she goes and asks him to forgive her - the queen of Massouri admits she was wrong. She asks for Dev's forgiveness...not friendship - just that he forgive her - so that she can live with herself...and Dev says no...that he will never forgive her...
Jis insaan ne Kaajjal ke dil mein thodi si jaga bana li thi apne liye, vahi insaan abhi bhi usko sirf nafrat karta tha. And therefore, in Mumbai, at the Police Station, she was so afraid to ask him for help....but he came none-the-less....and saved her again...and she was confused by him....
And again at Radio City, he saved her job....
Then he helped her face the Hilton Sisters....
He helped her regain her self-confidance....
And most importantly, he never took any credit for helping her....
During all of this, Kaajjal slowly began to be more and more perplexed by this man....a man that was slowly and unknowingly, making his way into her heart....although, even at this point, she didn't love him, just knew that he was a good person. And, she began to respect him....
One day, Dev sir stoop up against his family for Kaajjal....once again, he saved her....and here, she began to respect him even more - kyounki Dev ne apne family ke khilaaf ja kar, Kaajjal aur uski bua ki izzat ki laj rakhi...
And this was the beginning of Kaajjal's sweet love....or, better said, it was the sweet, innocent, beginning of her love, that she still didn't understand. At this point, the bud of love had taken root in her heart, but she was new to the feelings and did not understand them....nor did she truly understand her Dev Sir.
Then the landslide in Lonavala...agar Dev sir usko nahi mil jaate, to pata nahi bechari kya karti. Aur yaha, ek anjaan sheher mein, Dev ne uska khayal rakha...and he even asked his mom to call her family and tell them that she's with him, and that she's okay....and, she respected him even more...
That night, Kaajjal got to know some of Dev's secrets...and, she saw the vulnerable Dev for the first time. And without her knowing it, she began to understand her Dev Sir a little better.
After this, at the beach house, seeing her Dev sir in that state - she was so worried about him - so much in pain seeing him laying there in that drunken, hurt state....we can see here that her love had begun to grow for Dev over the past few weeks...its apparent in her expressions that she had begun to love Dev - that it wasn't just an infatuation anymore...
and then, her Dev Sir tells her he loves her. And BOOM...then and there, in that touch - that one hug, Kaajjal's bud of love blooms into a beautiful rose...her feelings have been reciprocated - this was meant to be - her Dev sir loves her as much as she loves him! And then, her attitude towards him changes because she now believes in her love for him...and believes in him...
And then the accident....when she sees him there when she wakes up finally, and says "aap ko meri bahut fikar ho rahi thi....kuch kehne ki zaroorat nahin hai" - she is on cloud nine with the feeling of love that is bursting within her for her rajkumar - especially because, now she knows for sure, that he loves her too. She doesn't want to loose her love, and therefore is afraid to tell him that his brother committed the crime, but when Dev supports her, she realizes ke vo paraya nahin, balke uska apna hai...
And here, Dev decides to distance Kaajjal from himself....he begins to act rudely towards her, and Kaajjal, not understanding his sudden change, becomes so worried, that she gathers the courage to go ask him about it...she hadn't even begun her love story yet - she wasn't about to let it die without an explanation.
Soon after, her Dear Sweet Love apologizes and she's got her Dev Sir back, the real Dev, the one she knows, the one she fell in love with...and with his apology, her love story was hers again, to dream up, and create, any way she wanted.
...What a beautiful journey Kaajjal and her love have been through...what started as an innocent crush has turned into a deep love that is embedded in respect and trust. We can all only hope to be so lucky to find a love like Kaajjal has found....
And now, with the next few episodes, I Kaajjal's innocent love will grow into one that is not so naive....ab uske pyaar ki asli pariksha hogi...
So here's to Kaajjal's love....
Dev Ki Deewani,
~Payal
PS: Sorry that was SO long, I hadn't posted an analysis in a long time, so I figured maybe it was okay to make this one somewhat lengthy! :)
