There goes the WORK
After their nightmarish experience on the July 26 flooding in the city last year, tellystars have decided to play it safe this year.
With the first spell of showers lashing the city, there is a buzz that several actors are planning to request producers for a leave on the days that are expected to have heavy downpour.
An actor, from a popular soap, who wished to remain unnamed, told us, "There are dates which have been marked as heavy rain days. We are planning to get together and make a petition to producers to not have shootings on those days. We are hoping they will co-operate with us."
We spoke to stars and asked them what would do if the rain poured again. Read on…
I say: Last year, I was trapped for 14 hours in my car with not a single drop of water to drink. My solution: I'm going to approach my producers and talk to them about a finding a solution to the heavy rains problem. I am sure even half the producers will not be able to turn up themselves.
I say: It will be illogical to cancel our schedules and cause grief to our producers. My solution: The production houses can ensure a waterproof set, and adjust our call time if the weather gets bad. At the end of the day, we have to finish 25 episodes a month, no matter what. So it's better that we mentally prepare ourselves.
I say: The team of Kesar were caught up at Kamath's Club. The drainage system there is bad and the lane leading to the studio gets completely flooded. Making a headway there is tough. My solution: As a precautionary measure, we can wrap up the shoot early on heavy rain days. It should be a mutual decision.
I say: I am planning to mark the heavy rain dates in red on a big poster in my house. I want everyone to read them and be aware what the dates are. My solution: When it rains heavily, I will stay indoors. I don't want to go through the hell I went last year.
I say: The BMC is useless. I have a whole lane dug up in front of my house and it's really dangerous walking there during the rains. Just a few days back some three to four hours of rain got our city to its knees, is this the way we are prepared to handle the rains ? My solution: I have walked for some nine hours last year and suffered enough. This year, I would rather stay at home and miss work for a day if the situation gets out of hand.
I say: There's no point in cribbing and complaining about the monsoons. Just because one had a bad experience last year doesn't mean that one can choose to stay at home and shirk your responsibilities. We have to deal with it. My solution: We will appreciate if our producers can arrange for some mode of transportation to the sets if the floods get bad.
I say: Luckily, I was in London last year when 26/7 happened. But I did see the images and was horrified from what I saw. My solution: I have decided not to venture out too much if it rains very heavily. The other day when it poured and life came to a standstill, we did think of taking a day off, but thank fully it stopped raining and there was no flooding. |
