I too think it was a handicapped person of some sort. I doubt it was Amit, since Mr Tripathi mentioned that the son was in town for business for a few days. I doubt he's blind, but he may have some other disability which shocked them.

I think what might happen is that Jyoti will decline to marry him, and then the Sharmas might back her on the grounds that this disability was concealed from them, unlike they, who were upfront about Jyoti's disability.

I too think that Kabir will reveal to KK and others that he had already offered to marry Jyoti and accept her baby, and it was b'cos of her doubts about a re-marriage that she turned him down. At least, that way, KK and others can encourage Jyoti to re-consider this more favorably.

Yes agreed - even Kabir was surprised with the boy - and there is no one that Kabir knows who also knows Jyoti's parents.

I mistyped/was drawing an equivalency b/w the Sharmas & the Tripathis, but under the Americans w/ Disabilities Act, yes - in the US, a pregnant woman is covered under this act, which forbids discrimination on grounds of pregnancy. I have no idea whether such a law is valid in India. But I meant to say Jyoti's pregnancy. But don't worry - no offense taken 😛

I too was surprised that neither Padma, nor Dadi, nor KK thought even once of asking the Tripathis whether there were any shortcomings on their end? During Deepu's marriage episode, we saw how Padma was willing very picky about Deepu's dulhans, and some of the proposals from Baby Mausi were far better than either Jyoti or Sushma would be for anyone else. And here, they just assume that another family will accept Jyoti and baby, even though using this process, they could do much better?

Jyoti should just say no to this guy - if it's something like blindness, he's not likely to be better long term than Pankaj. As it is, the mom seems to be of the mindset that the bahu needs to be barefoot & pregnant. You think they'll be okay w/ her going to her maayka every now & then?

And yeah, once Jyoti gets them out, she should tell them that she already had an offer from Kabir, which she had declined for the reasons she had stated earlier, but if they wanted her out, she'll say okay to him and leave. One thing - Jyoti, please don't marry this mystery guy for masochistic reasons the way you did Pankaj. I also thought Pankaj was a wrong choice for you then, and that you should have waited for someone like Kabir.

I'd have thrown the glasses filled with juice at the floor and started a tantrum right there and then if my parents pulled a stunt like that. Then I'd get Poonam to clean the mess!!!! 🤣 (Or my own sister in laws, theres not much difference in them. 😆) With my boots down her throat for suggesting such a silly idea.

^^^I don't agree that single parents - moms or dads - can raise kids well - kids need both. I'd be for Jyoti adopting this out to Sarika, if Kabir were not to have told her that he wants her and her baby.

I agree about CVs not giving us what we want. I wanted Jyoti to lose that baby in the hospital - didn't happen. I wanted Uday & Sudha to walk out of that house and abandon Bhairavi & Pankaj and have a romance of their own. Didn't happen (did, but we don't get to see it). I wanted Sushma to adopt out her baby, ace her exams and find a job. Hey, if Kabir can give Brij a job, why not Sushma? But again, nope! They'd rather adapt the more incredulous track of making Brij a saint who rivals both Jyoti & Kabir

Back to the topic, If the dulha is handicapped, it will be somewhat ironic if the handicap is that he's wheelchair bound - putting Jyoti in an unenviable position of having to reject a guy on the grounds that he has the same ailment as her dad. 😆
