Padma first questions Deepu on where has he been so long, but then rationalizes it saying that he must have been @ a friends place and must have been done eating. 😡😡 Jyoti is shocked. Padma tells Deepu to go in & rest.
Jyoti looks @ Padma as though she has gone mad, and Padma defensively pleads w/ her to cover this up, 😡😡 and tells her that since his job went, he's lost his composure. Jyoti protests about the drinking, and is concerned that he could revert to the Deepu of old, but Padma assures her that she'll talk to him. She begs her not to tell her dad about this, or else he might do something drastic. 😡😡 She says that once he gets a job, everything will be fine (yeah right, it's joblessness that causes drinking) She asks Jyoti whether she can get Deepu a job, and Jyoti @ first asks where from, before seeing the look on Padma's face and telling her that she would (dear, just learn to say 'NO')
Deepu enters his room, and Poonam asks him where has he been so late? Deepu tells her that he had met some old friends, and was out w/ them. He tells her that he's very tired, and wants to sleep. Poonam tells him that she needs to talk to him. Deepu asks her to defer it to next morning, and lies down, and Poonam asks him why he's going to sleep as he was, w/o changing. She tries to change him, and then smells his breath, and confronts him on his drinking 👏👏 (Yeaaahhh, I'm glad that what Padma refused to do, Poonam did. I hope that tomorrow, she spills to KK that Deepu had been drinking) She asks him whether he drinks, and he says occasionally, and angrily demands to know whether he needs a permission slip from his parents? 🤔 He tries to tell her that he is tired and tense, and that he'd like to rest, but Poonam tells him that sleeping or drinking are not going to solve his problems, all caused by Jyoti-didi (dear, you really know how to mix enchilada & excrement and make one wonder whether to digest parts of it): it's due to Jyoti-didi that he's lost his job, and out of frustration, resorts to drinking. She says that her father was right that when one is sitting idle in the house, one does.... and stops.
She tells him that today, her father came, very concerned about him, w/ a job offer but their mom (Padma) rejected it. She didn't know what self-respect she was talking about. Deepu tells her that his mom is not mad (wanna bet?), and that she must have had a good reason. Poonam says that she does, and it's her false ego. While rejecting it, she never thought even once of Deepu's future or dreams. She demands to know why she doesn't ask Jyoti where she is very late, or why she goes out to the movies (dear, you were doing fine until this statement: you really think that going out w/ a colleague to watch movies is the moral equivalent of drinking out and coming home very late w/o telling anyone?) The reason Padma doesn't is that by financing the house, Jyoti has effectively shut them up (good for her!!!) Poonam warns him that if he continues in this vein, he'll be finished b4 he even knows it. All he will ever be is Jyoti-didi's younger brother (I agree w/ her here). Deepu explodes, and tells her to shut up, and that he won't listen to any more garbage about his family. He had explained to her that he was tired and was hoping to rest, but Poonam being Poonam...
Sushma is out w/ Jyoti, and asks her to feel her womb (maybe the baby kicking?) and Jyoti rejoices, saying that it's unbelievable. She notes that just a few months later, its sound will reverberate throughout the house. Both rejoice.
Sushma says that she's fearful of whether she'll be able to give this baby everything (if you adapt it out like you seem to be planning to, why not?) Jyoti asks why not, and assures her that she'll be able to give her anything (I know that Jyoti is just trying to be encouraging, but Sushma is the one who seems to be more grounded in reality here) Jyoti tells her that by the time the kid grows, Sushma's education will be complete, and she'll be independent. Sushma notes that Jyoti is independent, and so will she be, but money ain't everything, and this house, where everybody over-reacts to even small things, wouldn't be conducive to the kid. She wonders whether people will desist from reminding this kid that its dad is in jail (actually, not any more, but you don't know that as yet). Jyoti tries to tell her that w/ time, everything will be all right, but Sushma disagrees, pointing out how yesterday, all she did was accompany Kabir to the movies, and the entire house turned against her. She asks Jyoti whether the latter doesn't have a right to be happy? It seems to be a sin to even look for happiness. Kabir seems to be a very nice guy, and she doesn't know whether he'll even talk to her or not (Like she encouraged Sudha to elope w/ Uday, she's now helping remind Jyoti of him, even while Jyoti is trying to forget him outside work 👏👏👏).
Kabir is riding his bicycle (so far, he has 3 modes of transport - his motor-cycle, his jeep and now his bicycle, all shown in this episode). His friend hails him, and asks him why is he on a cycle, when he himself has said that there isn't a better exercise than dancing (oh, so thaaaat's why - he's avoiding dancing to try to forget Jyoti?) Kabir denies that he's quit dancing, and said that he just came out for a breath of fresh air. He remarks that his friend is asking lawyerly questions and is about to leave, when the friend stops him and asks him where he's headed. He asks him whether everything is okay, and Kabir asks why not? His friend tells him that it must be something, since he's never seen him so sad. Kabir jokingly makes a brave attempt to deny it (what, me sad? 🤣🤣🤣) but that's about as convincing as a giraffe in dark glasses at a polar bears only golf club. His friend asks him whether he won't even share w/ his friend what's bothering him? Kabir again denies anything, just saying that he couldn't sleep well last night. He's friend encourages him to fess up 😆😆 and says that there's more to it. Kabir asks him what is it about him that they know but he doesn't, and his friend tells him that that's precisely it, which is why his attention seems to be elsewhere. 😉😆 Kabir is thoughtful.
Jyoti continues to tell Sushma that maybe Kabir too wants to keep his distance. Sushma tells her that it was her words that hurt him and that she shouldn't have told him that. How was it his fault that there was a curfew? (Looks like along w/ her fetus, Sushma is growing her own brain w/ it) Nor was it a crime to see a movie w/ him. She asks Jyoti whether she did it due to Padma & Deepu? Sushma continues that other people will say anything - it was Jyoti herself who taught her that, but she herself is.... and besides, it's no crime to maintain a friendship w/ a guy 👏👏👏 and it's very difficult to get a good friend. Jyoti asks 'friend'? and Sushma tells her that regardless of what she called it, what Kabir did for her was an act of friendship. She tells Jyoti that regardless of what her mood is, he always wants to see everyone happy. He always does something to make her laugh. He cares for her. All this is nothing but friendship. She urges Jyoti to talk to Kabir. Jyoti agrees, so that he doesn't feel hurt, and Sushma threatens to break ties w/ her if she doesn't 👏👏👏
Kabir is sitting under a tree holding a rose, and wondering how his friends figured this out. He's wondering why he hasn't, and where is his mind? Later, on his bike, he heads to the academy, and stops by a girl who's crossing the road, and has flashbacks of Jyoti. All this ring in his mind as he arrives there, and he imagines Jyoti there alone practicing her dance. His friend arrives and waves his hands in front of his eyes, but Kabir doesn't notice.
Later, on his jeep, Kabir's friend asks him why he doesn't meet w/ friends, come to the club, etc, and asks him whether he has any business problems, and Kabir denies it. He now opens up about Jyoti, and tells him that his choreographer has solved half his problems. Initially, he thought that they'd not get along, and he explains to his friend the differences they had in opinion on what constitutes good art. She tried out something new and it took off. Bottom line - Jyoti is talented. His friend asks him whether Jyot has brought a new beam of light into his life (methinks this pun on Jyoti's name is really getting old) and this is what has brought the change in him. Kabir says that he was unaware of it, and doesn't know. His friend asks him when he'll introduce her? 😛😆 He wants to see what sort of a girl impresses Kabir Pratap Singh Sisodia?
Deepu apologizes to his mom for drinking, noting that he shouldn't have done that. He asks her whether she thinks he'll revert back to the Deepu of old (but that Deepu, from what I recall, had a gambling problem, not a drinking problem; the drinking problem was Brij) Padma tells him not to think like that, but at the same time, not to repeat it, and Deepu promises. He explains to her that he has been looking for jobs, but it's tough to get one if one has just passed 12th. He however will be willing to take whatever he gets, including that of a peon. Padma demands to know why, and says that he'll definitely get a good job and that studies ain't everything (she seems to be a illustrious illustration of this)
Kabir is at the academy w/ his buddy & Bhagya-da, and he asks Bhagya-da whether Jyoti told him that she'd be late, or anything? Kabir wonders whether she's okay, and his pal tells him to relax, she must be caught up in traffic, and Kabir tells him that her phone is ringing, she's late, and he's asking him to relax? (Kabir has pretty much let out his secret by now) He tells him that she comes there on her scooty, and its brakes fail 🤢😆 (c'mon, it just happened once, the day you first met her: you make her sound like a bike stunt-gal who loves experimenting on scooties w/o brakes 😆😆) His friend expresses surprise, and Kabir tells him that this is how they met, and if something happened, who'd save her this time? 😲😆 His friend tries to assure him that nothing will happen to her, and he asks him whether he's god that he knows everything 😆 Bhagya-da tries to intervene, and the friend suggests that they go to the police station, and they might even get it on TV 😉😆 Kabir demands to know whether he's making fun of him, and is about to set off for the police station, but runs into Jyoti 😊
Jyoti hears the word 'police' and asks what's happened? Kabir's friend very helpfully explains to her that since she was late, he was very tense and therefore wanted to check w/ the police that she wasn't lost 😆 Kabir introduces his friend - his name is Amit. He's about to introduce Jyoti, but Amit tells him that he already knows from everything he's told him earlier. Kabir asks Jyoti why she was late, and she tells him that had she known that he becomes that tense when she is late, she'd have taken him out w/ Sushma as well. Kabir tells her that her phone was off too, that's why. He also denies that he was tense, and Amit very helpfully again tells her that if she is even slightly late, he'll put posters of her out all over the city. 😆😆 Jyoti laughs @ the comment, and Kabir asks her whether she too is joining in mocking him? Jyoti denies it, of course, and tells him that he does care about his friends, and Kabir is happy that she accepts him as a friend 👏👏 Jyoti apologizes to him for how curt she was the other day, despite how helpful he was, but Kabir seems lost. Jyoti asks him whether he's listening, and he says he did upto the word 'friend'. Jyoti smiles, and stretches out her hand as friends, and they shake it. Kabir is happy.
That night, Amit & Kabir are lying on the hood of Kabir's jeep, and Amit asks Kabir why he was so tense just b'cos Jyoti was slightly late? Kabir said she was a friend, he was concerned b'cos he cares about her. His friend asks him - is she a mere friend? He tells him not to justify it under the pretext of friendship - hethinks this is the symptoms of that very thing. Kabir asks what, and Amit asks him to ask himself whether she's just a friend? He knows Kabir will be shocked to hear this, but dude, this is love! (Amit is the new cool guy after Kabir who's surfaced here) He is in love w/ Jyoti. Kabir is incredulous.
At home, Kabir prays to Krishna that today, he's out to spill out what's in his heart, and he's tense & nervous, and hopes he's w/ him. Next scene - he has a bouquet of flowers, which he tells Jyoti that he brought for a special person. Jyoti smiles, and Kabir tells her to take it. Jyoti asks her why should she take it if he brought it for someone else, and Kabir remarks on how beautiful she looks (that sounds like a great reason for why she should❤️😆)
Kabir tells Jyoti that today, he wants to tell her something more. (Kabir, please, she's just accepted you as a friend, now's too early to tell her that you love her)
I know that by now, nothing better should be expected of Padma, but nonetheless, I hated her lenient treatment of Deepu, who did something far worse than what Jyoti did. I was even more pissed @ Jyoti for agreeing to cover it up - she should have just said no. And really, Jyoti needs to say no when Padma comes up w/ ridiculous demands like Jyoti find a job for Deepu. Jyoti couldn't even find a good job for herself, thanks to what Bhairavi did to her reputation, and Padma wants her to find one for Deepu? And it's not like Padma will accept anything Jyoti gets, like the time Jyoti got honeymoon tickets for Deepu/Poonam that were ultimately unused and wasted. When a soberer Deepu offers her next morning to take any job, Padma asks him to be picky and pick only the good jobs. If that's what she wants, why is she so determined that Deepu not take Mahesh-ji's offer - that's the only type of job that will allow Deepu to support his entire family on Poonam's lifestyle. Even if Jyoti did find Deepu a job, Padma or Poonam wouldn't be happy w/ it, and would bitch about it to no end.
My anger @ Padma dissipated when I saw Poonam being a real wife and doing the things Padma should have done, minus her gratuitious comments about Jyoti. Other than that, everything Poonam said was dead on. One may say that she lacked the tact that Padma showed in not confronting him about his drinking, and in this case, I agree w/ her, and disagree w/ Padma, and Jyoti was right about this as well. In fact, imagine Jyoti (non-pregnant) coming into the house like that. Just those movie tickets pissed off not only Padma, but Deepu as well, and yet, here is Deepu who comes home pissed drunk. I'm glad Poonam gave him the thrid degree - this is what any mature wife should, and Sushma might have been more successful had she confronted Brij in that manner, and followed up on it w/ walk-outs. Also, Poonam was right that he'd only be Jyoti's little brother: while that may have pissed off our drunken hero, the fact that Jyoti has to do what he should be doing ought to acutely embarrass him, and what Poonam is offering him gives him the opportunity to compensate for that to the point that Jyoti & Sushma could marry again and never look back to see whether everyone is okay. In fact, if Deepu had fulfilled his role properly, Jyoti would never have had to have a divided attention while @ her sasural.
Sushma seems to be the matchmaker of this serial (other than Deepu's): previously, she helped sabotage Bhairavi's plan by helping Uday call Sudha and get her married to him, and now, she's talked Jyoti into accepting Kabir as a friend. I do think that it was somewhat wrong of her to get Jyoti excited about Sushma's baby, when she doesn't plan to keep it: why inspire Jyoti's remark about this baby's voice reverberating around the house in that case? But beyond that, Sushma talked perfect sense about Kabir - how the curfew wasn't his fault, nor were they @ fault for watching a movie together, and how she shouldn't have hurt him the way she did. I loved how Sushma insisted that Jyoti meet Kabir & accept him as a friend.
Amit was great as well. It was funny seeing Kabir totally clueless about what was bothering him, or even the fact that he wasn't being himself. The scene w/ Bhagya-da was funny as well, and Amit is as funny as Kabir as he showed when they met Jyoti. I do wish Amit gets a gal - I don't think it ought to be Sushma. For Sushma, I'd like her to spend the next few years studying and becoming independent - at least like Sudha was before she married.
While it's well & good for Kabir to realize that he's in love, since Jyoti has only now accepted him as a friend, he should give her some more time b4 he tells her that he loves her. Although the precap doesn't seem to suggest that. I just hope Jyoti doesn't go ballistic on him again. Or maybe she could use this occasion to mention that although divorced, she's pregnant w/ Pankaj's baby, and she didn't want it to be a burden on him. That would be the most graceful way for her to tell him no. Let him then make an informed decision on whether he still wants her.
Episode rating: 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Pluses: Sushma & Amit were the heros of today's episode. Kabir's bicycle, bike & jeep, Kabir & Amit's conversation, Sushma & Jyoti's conversation, Poonam's confrontation w/ Deepu
Minuses: Padma's conversations w/ Deepu - both of them; Poonam's insult of Jyoti, Sushma & Jyoti enjoying her fetus (positive normally, but not in this context)
